A great topic would also be an examination of anarcho-capitalism

    My question on retirement:
In the grand scheme of things, can we label retirement as something "good" or "bad" for an economy?
My question might be quite inaccurate considering how many things we would have to factor in:
People that are retired do spend a lot but they might not do so in the same country where they earned their money. Plus, although they leave place for fresher blood in the workforce, they take their knowledge and experience with them. They might also leach on the local economy of a country, especially when it's not just welfare they are benefiting from, but also the younger generations that are being crippled financially by the duty to help their elders who raised them...
As always, great job with your lovely, informative videos! Any reply is highly appreciated!

According to Mark Blyth, the reason why gold standard is abandoned is because it could never worked in a democracy. What do you think?

Retirement to me is a really shadowy and gloomy topic. When a person simply gives up, out of age as a number, not out of age as in health issues, several aspects (be it social, financial, or physical) aspects of his life might degrade out of boredom and counter-productivity. A person is old only when he decides to be old :D

Democracy is 2 wolves and a sheep deciding what to have for dinner.
    1. Democracy doesn't work because the majority of people have no idea about politics and economy.
    2. Democracy often leads to leaders who lie just to win votes and do the exact opposite after victory.
    3. It is stupid to base the legitimacy of the efficiency of a government based on votes and not merits. Just like you wont want a chef to operate on you, you shouldn't have a game show host as the leader of the country.
    4. Democracy leads to an unstable government and long term policies basically wont exist. That's really bad for a developing country.
    5. In a multi party system, the opposition will oppose anything the ruling party tries to do regardless if it is good or bad. They wont want the other to have an easier win.
Ancient Greece was the birthplace of democracy and its greatest philosopher Socrates hated democracy. He died because of democracy, such an irony. Churchill was a fool, I don't think his words can justify democracy.

Nikola Tesla Yet for all its flaws, try to examine the alternatives and you will find a lot more problems. I prefer a blend of technocracy and democracy but more emphasis on the technocratic part just like in Europe. Democracy is never good at deciding good leaders but it was able to remove bad leaders much more easier than other systems. Before then, a country had to resort to civil wars to remove a king.

Democracy is one of the thing that sounds good on paper but never works in real life. Democracy puts in bad leaders rather than removing them. You see things in black and white but in reality, everything is grey. Common voters can't even differentiate between black and white. Hence, democracy removes a bad leader and puts another in power. I don't see how that helps. Meritocracy is the best system to select a leader.

Nikola Tesla Who decided who deserve the merits to be the leaders then? And who could remove them if their intelligence and usefulness go beyond their expire date?

I know you big democracy buff might not like this but please refer to singapore and china. They have a great meritocratic system in place and of course, I never claim that it is perfect but this system is definitely producing better, more skillful and mature world leaders. Is it a coincidence that both of these countries (were)are the fastest developing country?

"democracy will in practice lead to the destruction of a peoples true values ....when they surrender themselves to the unlimited democratic rule of the masses, the capitalists slowly lose their former position; for the outstanding achievements of individuals are now rendered practically ineffective through the oppression of mere numbers" - Adolf Hitler speech to the industry club Jan 27, 1932
