    Wow that ten years finally paid off! And thats the enjoyment of bonsai. I say from the front tilt the tree slightly to the left and removes that staright trunk coming out of the pot . Great little tree

    This made me feel comfortable with all the trimming my dad is gonna do to his tree. Nerve wrecking but i trust him.

    Lucky Godfrey, he has pines & you! I take inspiration from you & have started local material, even lantana, which is a bush really. My gardener who has knowledge of legends about trees reprimanded me when he saw me starting tamarind / peepal ( ficus religiousa) trees, & happy with others which bring prosperity 😊 fingers crossed both will cancel each other & I’ll be left with my own luck 😂

    So seems like you can cut just about anywhere on the tips of the branches. I thought you could only prune the candles

    Sorry Peter I kind of fell asleep in mid watch, it's been quite a long day. As soon as I woke up I was like gotta re-watch this. I'm glad I did, the transformation on this mugo was amazing, and you got to work on a piece that once was in your nursery so it's kind of like watching your own grow up and needs a bit of touch up to be more presentable in life.

    I just came across this video and it's very helpful. I didnt have a clue you can transform it this way. I have a dwarf mugo pine that I bought last year. Is this the same mugo pine? Is spring a good time to do this?

    Mr Chen. what timenof year shoukd idealy pine work be carried out. im hearing late fall or even winter... sround here that means temps in the freezing zone.

      Spring - Summer and Autumn - Spring is best. In countries which are not too cold in Winter, you can also prune in winter. But protect the tree after pruning.
