Refreshed and nourished by God's Word in this sermon. Better ready now to be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power, wear the full armor to make the stand against the Devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark World, and against the SPIRITUAL forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Keep on the full armor. The day of evil is now. Stand your ground, Christians.

As to the church's homophobia: As a student in an LCMS elementary school in California in the early 80's, i quite vividly remember two things: 1) kids who were non-traditional in their gender roles were safe at our school, and any bullying or harassment was strictly not tolerated because it was contrary to Christian values. Such was not the case in public schools at the time.
    2) There were two men in their 30's who attended services, as it turned out, both men were dying of AIDS. Older women in the congregation helped these guys up until the end, and this was at a time when there was still uncertainty about how the virus was transmitted and if caretakers were at risk.

These are wonderful thoughts and encouragement in remembering who is the author of our lives and our stories. Also, absolutely on point with how progressively violent and antagonistic the world is getting against christianity in general, and specifically against the Gospel. However, I would like to offer a question just as food for thought-- who was it that "used to think" Christians are good people? I pray that if you seek to answer this question in an honest way, it may help continue to broaden and deepen your teaching, which is already so very gifted.😁🙏💖

Wow! You hit that one out of the park! Concise, brilliant, and novel (to me). Thanks. "The fields are ripe for harvest is law," says you. And I feel the weight of it every day, especially when I see nothing but gray/white-haired parishioners every Lord's day, and a visitor book that hasn't been signed in years... I think Pr. Bender or Pr. Kachelmeyer said not to worry about the results, just share the Gospel, because conversion is not your problem, it's God's problem. (I still feel like I'm not evangelizing enough, though, because I'm afraid of all of those "spears and guns right outside of the stained glass...") Thanks, again!

Yes, all true. Very good. O I am so frustrated, angry. The division is so great. Never have I so understood the primarily descriptive text...."because of the increase in wickedness, the love of most will grow cold." Not feeling too loving right now Rev.

"We see the 'change'"... Perhaps 100 years ago. The "Roaring 20's" weren't called "roaring" for nothing.... :) Or, perhaps, The Change took place about 5,000 + years ago. :)
