I think Slater is probably one of the best fullbacks of all time. Possibly a future immortal BUT - It was so embarrassing to see hime win Origin Player of the Series. He only played 2 of the three games and was in the series losing side. This award should have gone to a NSW player, and certainly not a player who didn't play in all 3 series matches in a losing side. Disgraceful biased decision. Shame Shame Shame!

Darren Lockyer was the greatest fullback of all time and for someone to win the Player of the series that only played two origin games on the losing team is wrong and bias ..Daly cherry-evans played way better then Slater in game 3.. Laurie Daly was one of those selectors along with Lockyer and Meninga for the player of the series, Daley was sulking because he lost his job over Brad Fitler to coach the blues and that's why no blues player won the award.. Sorry Billy but you lost the series and you must be proud of that.. Bahahahah 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Even if we compare Tedesco's stats with Slaters there's a big difference. Tedesco played 3 games, Slater played 2. Tedesco made 25 tackle breaks, Slater made 6. Tedesco running stats 502 compared to Slaters 254. I know stats don't say it all but clearly there was a big difference in performance between the two full backs alone. I really think it was a case of sending Slater out with an award whether he deserved it or not.
