Your description of where you are right now - giddy but terrified - perfectly describes me this week. I brought my campervan home on Wednesday. Had a minor panic attack on Thursday. Was super giddy while putting things in it today. After 4 years of living with chronic illness, I decided that now's the time because there's no guarantee that I'll be able to live nomadically in 5 years. Here's to a year of taking leaps of faith. living slow, and spending more time outside. Just subbed. 💚
@outdoorsybynature I checked out your channel and subscribed. What you wrote resonated with me. I have battle illnesses for a decade. I recently decided I need to live again because nothing is promised. December 2025 I will be on the road God willing. Praying for your success and health.
@@mizzz.c Thank you for checking it out and subscribing! I know there will be challenges but I know it will be worth it. As my therapist told me last year, you're more capable than you think. Even if you only get to take small steps this year, I hope you keep moving forward - and that our paths cross on the road!
Very cool. Be safe and live your dreams. Excited to follow your journey. You will NOT 🎉 need that "day job" in a year. I will be right here watching your amazing journey and you will be telling us all how this was the best decision ever!
I've recently started watching van life videos and find them so fascinating. I'm really looking forward to following your journey, especially with it being an EV.
I finally got my van after watching over a hundred van life videos of other people on their journey of van living and camping. My mom’s name is Elsie. ❤
Wow! What an amazing beginning video 🥹 You know, I’ve always dreamed of what would happen when somebody converted one of these beautiful new electric BMW vans into a camper van 💕 so I’m soooo excited and ready to see what you have in store here and how 🥰
Hahaha, no problem!! 😂 I'm not necessarily going to do a complete conversion but just a camperbox with like a little kitchen and then a bed that folds out. Just to start with. If I love the traveling I might just do a full conversion tho. Have to see what the future holds. I'm excited!
I don't live in my van, but I have a high top van that's 10 yrs old this year. It's had 4 different "test" layouts, and I've got the major components of the newest layout in place now. I spent 6 weeks this fall adventuring & visiting family, and I had a blast. Spent $0 on hotel rooms in nearly 4000 miles. The VW ID Buzz is the first vehicle that might pry me out of my current van, but not until the wheels fall off of this buggy! Enjoy your build & thank you for sharing it with us!
Adventure is my Game with the Pups.... I am certainly going to follow your Adventure. I am looking forward to all your upcoming content. My Van is similar to yours but the logo is different.
Thank you, Rachel! I only have one regret, that I wasn't able to do this sooner, or at least didn't dare to. Because now Mojo-Jojo is too old to go on camping adventures with us. So for now, it will just be Me and Mr. Mako Anderson. The hubby will stay home with the Moj. Mojo is going to turn 16 years old in March! He's still young at heart but just can't walk that much anymore so he wouldn't be able to hike with us. And I don't want to leave him in the car or anything. But it's going to be a while still. Have to build the kitchen and bed platform first! Always good to see you in the comments Rachel, thank you for your continued support 🤗🤗
Thank you Marie! Also, you inspired me to go running again (not in the rain 😂) Took a month off after my last half. Just signed up for a half in April, running starts Monday
Good on you, I will enjoy watching your progress. I am about to do the same thing, but looking at short trips out of town, just me a my little doggie. Jan from central Victoria Australia
Bravo ! “ Cherish your dreams for they are your future “ Expect to modify the build several times. No need to make it perfect on the first try. Keep it simple and enjoy it all ; )
Wow, what a cool VW van!! we don't have those in SA, yet, (we are always like 10 years behind the rest of the world 😂) so that looks super fanncy!!! You won't regret this!!! We bought a VW Caddy Maxi van about 2 years ago, and we'll never buy another car! It's practical for transporting my husband's work during the week, and then turns into a camper on the weekends to explore outside of Cape Town and beyond... Just drive, park and LIVE!! "Alfie" is going to take you so many wonderful places and we can't wait to be a a part of this journey!!! I'm SO happy for you!!! Go Lucinda 🎉🎉
I was watching enviously when they came out in Europe. It was another 3 years wait for it to come to the US. And tat was 7 years after the announcement that it would be coming. Been waiting a long time for this van! I love that you guys have a Caddy. I have the same vision for ours, utility during the week and then turning it into a camper on the weekends! Thank you for being here Shelley! Always love hearing about your experiences
This is amazing and I can't wait to watch this journey you're on. I am from Florida and live in France. I look forward to seeing my home through your videos!
Great video. I had never heard of this vehicle before and I must admit that it looks fantastic. It will be quite interesting to see how you put your van together.
I am so excited for you and what's to come! I find van life fascinating. I can't do it with 3 kids and a husband (because they'd drive me nuts) but I love watching those that can do it! Love the van❤
This is so awesome Lucinda! So happy and proud of you for taking the leap! I too have been obsessed with van life videos for a few years. Looking forward to this journey with you so at least I can live vicariously for now…cheers and safe travels!🚐
I’m super happy to see someone doing this. Please visit the forums to learn more about your car, there are plenty of helpful people there. Thank you for the suggestions. Are there any forums that you would recommend? I have been looking into the workarounds for a camping mode equivalent. And I see mostly people on TH-cam that are putting heavy things in the driver’s seat to keep the ignition on. I’m super excited to try the hacks when I go out!
It makes sense to live your life and do the things you want to do while you can instead of sitting in a rocking chair on the porch when you are too old, wishing you had. I hope this dream is everything you want it to be and more.
Wow yo did good! I’m older than you, 62 and I just bought a “new to me” van for myself to go van camping, travelling 😊. I went out a couple times late fall and hope to go lots this summer. I was young when I had my children so university, children and work took my time. I retired at 58 due to stress but didn’t think about van travel until the last couple years. So fun and so happy for you 😊. I also started a TH-cam channel of my own a little over a year ago. Life is good ❤
I just found your channel and am soooooo happy I did! 🎉❤ New subscriber living the “both” life living out of my SUV with my 2 dogs for 6 months of the year. WEPA!!! Let’s goooo🎉
Wow first vid I’ve seen of vanlife in ID Buzz. Very cool. Good luck. Can’t wait to hear and see how it turns out. Electric vehicles are such a game changer for vanlife, given you have days of heating and cooling with each charge.
The only videos so far that I've seen with camper boxes in the Buzz are european. I was a little surprised by that when I started researching. Thanks for watching!
Congratulations 🎉🎊🎈 I’m eyeing the same car for those same reasons. But buying new is still a hurdle for me. Will wait to see how you like your Elfie and retrofit her for your trips. I’m eyeing the all red Buz for my future camper. New subscriber. Looking forward to seeing your journey.
Thank you so much for subbing! I will keep you posted here on the channel how it goes. I'm working on the plas for the camper box today! Hopefully have that video up by Sunday
Thats a real nice ride.Wow you heard about this coming out 7 yrs ago. I had the same happen with the Lightning but I think it was only 4 yrs ago for me but same reaction. I wanted that truck and I got it last May when pricing came back to reality😁And I got the matching cap last week and various camping items to make it work. Like you I am interested in the journey....charging will be a big part of it .....and also climate control which is huge. Im selling my house but not living in the truck. I have a girl and a dog LOL! Still dont know where shes at with it but I am absolutely planning cross country.....multiples if Im successful and very soon! I appreciate your time and see ya on the next
I can’t wait to follow this! I love watching videos of people building their van, it’s something I’d love to do but I kind of thing I’d hate the reality so I love watching others do it instead! Plus I have a small child so that wouldn’t work with van life!
Hi Lucinda. A very inspiring video, bravo madame. And, I found myself nodding a lot in agreement of what your dreams for the future are. Myself? I dream of much the same and so, I have a caravan to tour my country (UK) and Europe end of March and well, as an older gentleman (58yrs) I feel it is time to take the plunge. Thank you for giving me a little confidence to do this and for the butterflies you gave me in my tummy in anticipation. The very best for you my dear. Love and best wishes. Tim. x
@@LucindaLives It's rather invigorating Lucinda. I can't wait and feel like a silly little child but, ahhh, feels good. May you have the most amazing adventures my dear. Stay safe and enjoy. Best Wishes. Tim. x
Thank you!! It's not the plan to go full time. Extended trips eventually, but first just weekends. Everything does require cash, you are right. Also, totally unrelated but love the cute pup in your profile picture
Lucinda, let me give you a visual…. A 40 something year-old woman sat in her kitchen 3000 miles away watching your video clutching onto her hot cup of mocha smiling her head off watching your video… i’m sat by my aga in my kitchen and there is snow everywhere outside. You are a perfect stranger to me as I am you living world apart and yet I feel so hugely connected to you. (in a very non-creepystalker way😂). I honestly feel less alone when I watch your videos, not that I feel lonely all the time, but it’s so nice to see somebody out there doing it and showing the possibilities, Somebody who is your people. One of the main things I wanted to do when I re-launched my channel was to be documenting us building out a sprinter as one step of us moving to a different place in the country. We even went round searching sprinter vans. We just didn’t do it in the end. Putting it off because life’s race directed us elsewhere. I still think it may be on the cards for us, but at the moment I am focusing on learning the same things I wanted to do even though my circumstances changed. Recovering from my burnout , starting a new creative career, learning to slow down and minimalise, learning to find beauty in the small mundane every day life, learn how to do things for myself which is slower but so much more rewarding and basically just documenting my 40s. I’m here every step of the way. My best friend is in Florida and one of the things I want to do more than anything is to come over. I spent a great deal of my childhood growing up in the states between Florida and Washington DC because my mother was American. So I feel real affinity with the USA.. I really hope that this year brings you opportunities to create exactly exactly the life you want and that you don’t have to go back to any 9 to 5 job. My gut tells me you won’t and that this is going to work out for you. In other news on my end, I just got my first professional referral for photography. 🎉 can you believe it?! i’ve been asked to go photograph a small venue who hosts several weddings a year and they would like to have me on their books as a go to photographer ❤ … I think elfie is stunning. May all your travels be safe. ❤❤
CONGRATULATIONS!!! So good to hear that you booked a photography gig. Love that! Always good to see you in the comments Cee Fee, especially when you have good news like this of course. (side not, last time you mentioned your aga and I looked it up and it's now a goal for our forever home in the future 😊) We are much on the same path on our respective sides of the ocean. I'm still amazed how sometimes those burnt out feeling just pop up out of nowhere. The healing journey is so much longer than I had expected. Keep cherishing those small moments, that's where the beauty is. If you ever find yourself in FL you'll have to let me know! Thank you for sharing your story and your lovely support, it really does mean a lot!
Congratulations on starting this new journey in your life. That kind of freedom is difficult to place a price on. Your content and editing is top notch. We look forward to following you! We are somewhat similar in that we are not full timers but have traveled extensively over the last 2 years with our travel trailer (42 states, 25,000 miles, over 30 National Parks). We only have a channel trailer posted now and are working on another one to be posted in a few days. Check it out if you want some ideas. Safe Travels!.
@@LucindaLives Thanks for visiting our channel. Looks like this video is really connecting with people. You only posted it 3 days ago and it will probably be your most watched video yet. People making the transition to van life is a popular topic and there are a lot of people who are starting this journey, or want to get into it. Although we travel in a travel trailer, we follow a lot of van lifers, and some likewise, because we all share common interests (travel, adventure, exploration) .
I don't think it will limit where I can go, it will slow down where I can go due to having to stop and recharge. Before I bought her I did the research, with being able to buy an adapter to also charge at Tesla stations I can go everywhere I want to go. All the way across the US basically
Oh my gosh I didn't know! I just had this video in a playlist of Van life videos that I admired. After reading your comment I headed over to the channel to find out more. I just looked at the description of the channel and read the following: After living an extraordinary life and a brave battle with depression, Lee passed on March 26, 2021. Mental Health knows no bounds. Lee's videos remain to celebrate all that she is: smart, kind, driven, adventurous, full of light & love. I'm excited to see how it goes! Especially with the all electric vehicle. I'm a VW gal myself (2017 Golf Wolfsburg ed.) and just retired a few weeks ago with intention to by a minivan and travel US on extended trips while maintaining my home base. I've been reluctant to go all electric because of worry how that might limit where I can go. I haven’t pulled the trigger yet on which vehicle to buy because of a health issue that cropped up 1 month before retiring 😢, so I need to see where that goes before spending all my cash on a new or low mileage minivan. But you're YOUNG! This is definitely the time for you! Don't continue to call it reckless and irresponsible! If for some reason it doesn't work out for you, you have plenty of time to recover, earn your money back, or try something else! Go for it! No regrets 💪
Congrats on the retirement! And I'm sorry to hear about the health setback Lisa Marie, I hope you get to feel better really soon! I think you're right. I can always recover financially if it doesn't work out. Also, love the Golf!! You'll have to let me know when you decide what van to get and if it will be a VW. My GTI is a 2011, two door and stick shift. I just couldn't bear to get rid of her when i bought the van. Thank you so much for the encouragement, I really appreciate it 🤗🤗
A VW ID Buzz? That's one heck of a van to drop your life savings on! I'm curious though, is the whole 'slower living' vibe as relaxing as it sounds, or does it get frustrating after a while?
For me, it's been such a relief. I've lived a life that was exactly the opposite, go go go all the time, no rest, barely time to relax. Only time to do chores basically. So far, slowing down is exactly what I needed. I'll let you know a year from now if I still feel the same, I'm thinking I will
Nice van. I was looking into it. Peacevan in Seattle makes campers out of them. I was thinking of buying one but because it is fully electric I decided not to buy one. Small driving range and everything you plug into it while driving is a minus to your range of driving because it is not charging while driving like the gasoline one does. We are still in stone age when it comes to electric vehicles.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I don't think it's to big of a problem for me. I don't think it will limit where I can go, it will slow down where I can go due to having to stop and recharge. Before I bought her I did the research, with being able to buy an adapter to also charge at Tesla stations I can go everywhere I want to go. All the way across the US basically
Just found your channel, LOVE your van, can’t wait to see your dream play out!! If you are interested in meeting some cool folks check out Lulu’s Way and French Blonde Travels (Renee) if you haven’t already. Good luck with your badass van, I have a Ram PROMASTER city and use it for adventures but not full time. 😊
I'm so glad that I'm reaching people that are embracing van living. I won't be full time either, just weekends to ease into it and go from there. Hoping on extended trips eventually but it's all still so new. I'm excited!!I checked out both channels you mentioned, New York to Florida, how fun! I'll do the other way around, in the summer tho 😂
Coming from a Tesla owner, I love the idea of an electric van life but the ID Buzz is just terrible for an E-van. Terrible range but that big of a battery. VW is not making good EV right now.
Hey Sean! Thanks for sharing your opinion. I'm not too worried about it. I don't think it will limit where I can go, it will slow down where I can go due to having to stop and recharge. Before I bought her I did the research, with being able to buy an adapter to also charge at Tesla stations I can go everywhere I want to go. All the way across the US basically
Unless you plan to live in this vehicle, this is a horrible “investment”. You could have bought an actual investment property for the amount of that brand new car with an amazing return. A brand new vehicle loses value immediately. A new car typically loses 10% or more of its value as soon as it's driven off the lot. This is because the car becomes a used car as soon as it's titled. You won’t even be able to give it away at this point. :( If you planned to live in it - this would be perfect because the biggest consideration in van life is temperature control. You can essentially leave the car on. 24/7 to accommodate any climate fluctuations.
My dear sister, let me get this straight. You're married, have a home, and yet you exhausted your savings to purchase a $70, 000 VW Van to travel part-time just because you see other people doing it? 🤔. I'm not trying to be rude by no means. But I just don't get it!
This is absolutely a privileged position to be in and I am so thankful. I'm very grateful for the opportunities that came along my path and proud of myself for taking them and working hard towards the privilege I was able to establish.
Wow, I'm not the only one feeling this way. I swear, lately that I have been feeling like I am in a Alice in wonderland loop. It's the same ol same ol, day in and day out routine. For Years, I have been watching and admiring people living their life in a van, car, bus, truck or whatever. I feel that I can and need to do it. I have been saving my coins with the intention of buying a shuttle bus and converting it to a tiny house on wheels. Thank you and the also the people in the comments for reminding and inspiring me to move forward. 🫶🏾🤗🫶🏾

Thanks for the well wishes! Looking forward to all the adventures this year will bring. Happy 2025 to you as well!
I just found your channel and am soooooo happy I did! 🎉❤ New subscriber living the “both” life living out of my SUV with my 2 dogs for 6 months of the year. WEPA!!! Let’s goooo🎉
Welcome to the channel! It's so great to find people who are also living out their dreams
@@LucindaLives you're a pioneer then! such fun
lol, pioneer. I don't know about that 😊
@@LucindaLives well ok not in the colonial sense of the term of course, but I think you know what I mean. Groundbreaker perhaps is a better word :-)
😂😂😂😂 Love it, Groundbreaker!!! Thank you for being a good sport 😂😂😂
Congratulations 🎉🎊🎈
I’m eyeing the same car for those same reasons.
Elfie is beautiful! And so are you. I'm excited to follow your journey.
Thank you so much! I'm excited to share the adventures
wrilly nice, good luck 😊
Thank you 😁
I love this new part of your journey!!!❤
Gracias Iaime! I'm excited and nerveus for all the new things in the near future.
I am looking forward to following your new adventures.
Thanks for your continued support Vicki. Always good to see you in the comments!
I pray things work out for you. Great van.
Thanks! I'm so excited to start this journey.
That's so exciting! Congrats on your Lightning and on the new adventures ahead! 🤩
Awesome adventure!👍
I'm excited! Thanks for watching Michael
I can’t wait to follow this! I love watching videos of people building their van, it’s something I’d love to do but I kind of thing I’d hate the reality so I love watching others do it instead! Plus I have a small child so that wouldn’t work with van life!
Thank you! I can't imagine van-life with a small child either. Good luck with home reno Corinne!
Do you girl!!!!🎉
😃🤩
What a gorgeous van!! ❤❤
Thank You! 🤗🤗
Brilliant 🚐👍🏿
Appreciate it! How's your Buzz doing?
Drive really good love it and thanks can’t wait to see your adventures 🏕️🚐👍🏿
That's good to hear!
I’m happy for you
Thank you!
New subscriber here. I look forward to following your page.
Thank you for subbing!
Tim. x
You got this Tim! So much fun and adventure await you on your travels. I think it's awesome you're doing what feels right
@@LucindaLives
It's rather invigorating Lucinda. I can't wait and feel like a silly little child but, ahhh, feels good. May you have the most amazing adventures my dear. Stay safe and enjoy. Best Wishes. Tim. x
Same to you Tim!
That's a beautiful van! Follow that dream! You will need cash on the road too if you go full time especially. Enjoy your journey!💯🛣️🏞️
Thank you!! It's not the plan to go full time. Extended trips eventually, but first just weekends. Everything does require cash, you are right. Also, totally unrelated but love the cute pup in your profile picture
@@LucindaLivesthank you. That's my travel buddy. Great companion!😉
Love it, pet your furry bestie for me!
What a cute van!
Thank you!
That's a cute van. I've never seen anything like it.
Thank you! It's definitely a bit unique in the US for now. Lots of them driving around in Europe
I want to be this rich and creative soon 🤘🏾
I do definitely feel fortunate and rich already 😊. Wishing the same for you!
Thank you so much for the compliments! I watched your trailer, so cool that you have adventured so much! Here's to many more adventures to come 😁🤩
@@LucindaLives Thanks for visiting our channel.
Have fun in Florida there's plenty to do!
I’m so excited to explore everything Florida has to offer! Lived here for a while already but haven't really explored
Go, go, GO!! 🚙🚙🚙! We only get one shot, one chance to live this crazy life. Enjoy this amazing adventure!! 🎉
Thank you so much Victoria Marie!
Great Video. Great Hair. This will work.
Thank you so much! 😊
It only has about a 200 mile range. Isn't that going to limit where it can go?
I don't think it will limit where I can go, it will slow down where I can go due to having to stop and recharge. Before I bought her I did the research, with being able to buy an adapter to also charge at Tesla stations I can go everywhere I want to go. All the way across the US basically
1:00 R.I.P. Lee 😢
Oh my gosh I didn't know! I just had this video in a playlist of Van life videos that I admired. After reading your comment I headed over to the channel to find out more. I just looked at the description of the channel and read the following:
After living an extraordinary life and a brave battle with depression, Lee passed on March 26, 2021.
Mental Health knows no bounds. Lee's videos remain to celebrate all that she is: smart, kind, driven, adventurous, full of light & love. Lee's family has partnered with several Mental Health charities in her honour to continue Lee's voice. We encourage others to continue to #SpeakUpForLee, with your own Mental Health and to listen to others in your community. You are never a burden & you are not alone.

Thank you for pointing my attention to this and I'm sorry for Lee's family, loved ones and friends.
@LucindaLives Yes, it will be 4 years soon since she left us...
so sorry for your loss.
The less you need the richer you are god bless stay safe chase your dreams 😅😊
Appreciate it Steve!
Thank you so much for the encouragement, I really appreciate it 🤗🤗
Hi 👋🏼 What part of Florida? I live in a suburb outside of Tampa . I’m about to do some major changes to live small .. maybe we can connect?
I live just north of West Palm Beach. Shoot me an email: Lucinda@lucindascorner.com
Will do!!
I'll let you know a year from now if I still feel the same, I'm thinking I will
Your subscriber count is going to take off!
Thank you! I hope so 😊
👏🏽 🤠
🤗🤗
She’s cute, congratulations!
Thank you so much!
I'll do the other way around, in the summer tho 😂
no RISK no REWARD...
Agreed!
If you planned to live in it - this would be perfect because the biggest consideration in van life is temperature control. You can essentially leave the car on. 24/7 to accommodate any climate fluctuations.
Good thing I'm not a financial advisor 😂. I'm hoping that the ROI is going to be great adventures and a year that I will remember for a lifetime
My dear sister, let me get this straight. You're married, have a home, and yet you exhausted your savings to purchase a $70, 000 VW Van to travel part-time just because you see other people doing it? 🤔. I'm not trying to be rude by no means. But I just don't get it!
That's ok, you don't have to get it Deb. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts
U r inspirational but you are very privileged - being able to quit and buy a van
This is absolutely a privileged position to be in and I am so thankful. I'm very grateful for the opportunities that came along my path and proud of myself for taking them and working hard towards the privilege I was able to establish.
A lot of money just to buy a small véhicule
Indeed it is. Super grateful that I could do it, I'm excited about the adventures I'll have with her
Big buck for an EV VW buzz. German middle class would not purchase this particular car. Far too expensive.
It's definitely not a cheap vehicle
Why would you go and get the ugliest van ever created
Her van 🚐 is really nice 👍 you’re just jealous 🤢
😂😂 Thanks for sharing your opinion. I love that different people have different tastes. Keeps the world interesting!
I have just found your channel good on you for starting your van 🚐 life I have my own channel too it’s fun to post your journey enjoy safe travels
Thanks Kaia, glad you checked out the channel!
You got this! Can't wait to hear when you are starting your adventures on wheels 😃🤗
