hey elise! happy to hear you talk about yarns like this, a lot of yarn is imported from turkey in my country so i've used yarnart a lot for amigurumi and even clothes! it's nice to see channels talking about non american yarns as they're not available here at all 😊

I’m not sure if anyone mentioned this in the previous comments but…. If you put your project containing mohair in a freezer bag and then pop it into the freezer for at least 15 mins it frogs so much easier! It helps the fibers from sticking to each other 😊

I messaged you about this yarn a few weeks ago. Well I ordered some and it is my favorite. I have never been really good with heavier yarns. I have always worked with crochet thread or even sewing thread and made doilies, table clothes etc. But I fell in love with Amigurumi and this is perfect yarn. My only con is I can’t make the really big critters with it and sometimes people think if it is small you didn’t work very hard on it. Oh well there loss 😀. Thank you for telling us about this yarn. Love your program.

I get what you mean about color choices!
I usually do my amigurumi in #3 crochet thread, Aunt Lydia’s is my favorite. But they only have about 16 colors in #3 (many more in #10!), and a lot of time, certain colors just aren’t available.
I’ve looked at other manufacturers, but they just don’t have the same feel. They are way more expensive, or they twist too much, or something else.

Thank you. I wondered how this yarn would work. I have problems with cotton yarn as well, oh to be non arthritic again , lol. I just live your amigurumi creations. I can spot your work without fail. Your bride and groom are darling . You did a fantastic job basing them on your beautiful daughter and handsome son-in-ilaw. I related so much to your down to the wire panic work on your dolls. I too have thought up grand ideas that I wanted to be perfect causing me to still be working on them right up to crunch time. Oh, the things we put ourselves through in the search for perfection. Truth be told, in my case, perfect rarely is achieved in anything I do. I've learned to cut myself some slack.....okay, that's a work in progress as well. You are so talented and creative. Keep up the great work. A talent by any other name is still amazing.

Wow, dolls look so beautiful and the idea itself is great! Yarnart Jeans is one of the most popular yarns for amigurumi in Eastern Europe and it is also one of the cheapest and the most common in its segment (approx. 1.5$ for a ball). I usually use 2.25 hook for it and it's a great yarn to try a new pattern - it has lots of colours and is easier that 100% cotton due to a little stretch it has.

Ah, the dolls are great❤ Immediately made me think of a previous video of yours (where you talk about gauge ), as I was mentally remaking the dress in Drops Muskat as it's a mercerised cotton & would be shiny. I'd make it more "tubey" & add an over layer of tuille. The hair is fab ❤❤❤
It's my 40 th wedding anniversary this October, so I might make these to celebrate 😂
Great review of the yarn which I have on my list to use. It seems very popular in Europe.

Hi Elise, what an interesting video today. Loved seeing the pics from the wedding! Your daughter was so beautiful. You two look so much alike. That was so interesting about the crochet cotton and how it can hurt your hands. I have had the same problem and thought it must just be me. I few years ago when I was crocheting baby toys for my grand niece, (She loved tropical fish, so I made several brightly colored fish and an octopus) They were just the right size to be thrown into the baby bag and could be thrown in the washer) I fell in love with some beautiful cotton worsted wt. I bought almost every color they had. But when I went to crochet with it I had a hard time enjoying the feel and pull of the yarn. I still have loads of it and am determined to use it in some new amigurumi projects, but I have been avoiding it. Hope you have a wonderful day ahead!

    • @EliseRoseCrochet
      @EliseRoseCrochet  ปีที่แล้ว

Yes. I've had a lot of problems with cotton yarn because it's less stretchy and my joints need the stretch! Your fishies sound adorable! 🐟🐠🐡

Elise, your whole family is simply beautiful! I’m also giggling and wondering about their reactions as you sat there the day of the wedding not allowing any one to speak to you, crocheting away. 😂
And thank you for covering this yarn, especially highlighting the skintones. I know I had asked your advice on those because I’ve been stalling out on making my RBG ami because the Skein tones yarn (which may be too thick for the Crochet Iconic Women patterns anyhow. I think the book used the Yarnart Jeans?) had been on clearance and I never could find ivory and the next shade up was ridiculously pink leaning. I’ve never made any sort of crochet doll style pattern but I think they’re so beautiful and have a friend who makes absolutely incredible dolls.
Funny enough I actually picked up some tulle for super cheap at Joann’s with their extra 75% off remnants. I’ve also got lace and chiffon (though those I was thinking I’d use just for decor- though I admit I’m a lifelong Stevie Nicks fan and think designing a Stevie Nicks ami would be amazing complete with a little Gold Dust Woman shawl 😂). Anyway, I was thinking maybe I’d make a ballerina because I used to be a very serious dancer until I developed health issues and the tulle would make a cute tutu. But maybe I’ll have to try your bride pattern when you release it!
Congrats again to your daughter and her new husband! And to you- though good luck getting used to the fact that one of your babies now has a husband of her own! ❤

Have you ever tried stylecraft special double knit yarn? I absolutely LOVE it for amigurumi. It's a DK wt yarn. I get it from wool warehouse. Currently it's only £2.14 which even with the conversion to USD and shipping costs, it's still great. 100% acrylic, 100g... and soft but still great for amigurumi projects.

I use a thicker version of that yarn, Jeans/Gina Plus (Yarnart) to make amigurumi dolls using Carla Mitrani's (AmourFou's) patterns. I use a 5mm hook to get nice dolls that are bigger than what you get with the recommended hook size and yarn (too tiny for me). I'm very happy with the yarn, especially when it comes to the range of colours - great skin tones like you said and nice stitch deffinition.

How sweet to have bride and groom amigurumi dolls as mementos, plus now you'll have a pattern too. They're so precious! You pulled it off, but I'm sorry you were so stressed out. I use mainly this one yarn and i like to use 2,5 mm hook. "Yarnart jeans" is a tiny bit thicker than Gazzal baby cotton, DMC happy cotton, Rainbow Hobbii, Yarnart Begonia (100% cotton). I have Begonia just one color and it is little bit slippery and have little sheen, Jeans is matt.

For amigurumi you can really use whichever size yarn you want. You'll just need to adjust your crochet hook size for that yarn. The pattern will turn out larger or smaller depending on the weight of the yarn you use! Hope that helps! 🧶🧶🧶

Thank you! The head on this doll is a little floppy because of the weight of the hair! In the past I've used a rolled up piece of felt to stabilize the neck. But of course that has to be done while you're making the doll, lol. 👰🏼‍♀️💍💒🤵🏻‍♂️❤️🧶

What a coincidence, I recently made a set of amigurumi bride and groom for a couple that celebrated their anniversary, and I managed to get the bride hair almost similar. The secret was to make really long the hair straps back on the neck, so you have enough hair to make the hair bun to hold the bride’s veil.
