Thanks for being positive about Elite Dangerous. I totally understand that we should hold the devs accountable when they make mistakes, but certain big TH-camrs like Yamiks are too negative at times. The game is brilliant and blows all the other space sim games out of the water.
Nice to hear your thoughts on this one, thanks for sharing. I love the cobra mk 3, but the mk 5 just wasn't my cup of tea. I can appreciate the love for it though
I agree. I love my Mandalay; and the Type 8. But, this is a great bubble ship. A great Odyssey ship for hard to reach exobiology and landing on planets/ star ports. It is so quick.
I love the Mk5. I got it as a starter package last month. I'm new to the game and though the devs really need to work on improving the learning curve with a few interactive quest lines, the ship itself has been able to do ANYTHING. Maybe it's not the BEST at specific tasks, but it does everything well for its size. I've had over 200 cargo space on it for trading. I've fit it with mining gear. With the appropriate gear it can contend with most any similar sized foe in combat and can survive long enough to jump you out of danger if you're outgunned. It can get up to 30ly jump range if you drop your weapons and slot D type gear without engineering! The only thing it can't do (if I recall) is hold another fighter, but I could be wrong about that. It's an excellent starter ship allowing us newbs to sample different roles find our niche in ED life.
This by far my new favorite ship in the game. It's my new go-to do anything ship, mission running, personal travel, xenobiology, whatever i need i can be in and out of a station, planet or system in a flash.
The Mandalay is great but twitchy. The Cobra MkV is just a solid mini Python. I even took it Titan bombing (it was terrible at it, but fun to see if I could engineer it to be able). It is a fantastic extra large fighter for bounty hunting. Two cytoscrambler pulse lasers and some multi-cannons, and you're good to go. I won't use it all the time, but it is fun to take it out for missions sometimes.
I had my Cobra MKIV for daily jobs in the bubble. But now with the MKV... I love the Jumprange, the Speed, everything. Ok a bit more Space for Cargo would be nice but it is okay for a small ship. For me it is the best small Ship in the Game. Mandalay is great but the Cobra is ... the Cobra. The Elite Dangerous ship! Worth every ARX i spend for it.
This is a ship that excels with engineering. They also land well inside settlements, and are a fantastic torpedo bomber (AX combat). Unshielded, she can have 4000 hull HP and move at high speeds while being almost impossible to hit and bringing up to three railguns, plasmas, or gauss to bear. She also makes a fantastic Odyssey dropship, especially when you need to be sneaky, and with two PDCs on the top, you can farm Guardian resources easily without worrying about missiles.
The MK V is my new daily driver, replacing my Conda for that role. It's small, sleek, cheap, and can easily do all the roles a daily driver needs, from small hauling to light combat to even light exploration and Exobio. Great little ship!
The Cobra Mk V is almost overpowered for its size. For a small ship it has an astonishing amount of module slots, it can achieve a very decent jump range for a ship of its class, it has the best SCO handling of all ships (including having the highest SCO speed of all ships), and its maneuverability is just incredible. Heck, when it comes to maneuverability, it makes even the Mandalay feel like a Type-9 in comparison. It's also very hardy and with decent hardpoints for a small ship, making it quite capable in combat. It really is a true top-of-the-line small-sized multipurpose ship, thanks to all those features. This ship is excellent eg. for PP2 activities. (Its only downside is that, probably due to a design oversight by the developers, it's a bit too large for small landing pads on surface settlements, causing you to be considered "in a trespass zone" when landed normally, causing the guards to quickly aggro on you. An issue report has been made about this, but Fdev is notorious for not fixing these types of problems, so it might never be resolved...)
The Mandalay is probably the best ship for exploration until you get a carrier because of it's incredible jump range making the journey to the area you want to explore much faster. The thing I dislike about the Mandalay is the larger landing footprint making landing in Mountainous terrain more time consuming. Fungodia Setisis seems to only spawn in the most hilly of Mountains which require you to land extremely far away and then try and remember the direction you saw it when you land. I really wish Frontier would give us Navigational markers / beacons to make the process less difficult. When I was using my Asp Explorer I spent over an hour just trying to find a place to land and then it took over 3 hours in my SRV to find 3 samples and get back to my ship. That is when I switched initially to my Diamondback Explorer and then switched to the Cobra MK3. I learned to love how much faster the Cobra was just flying around searching for the next sample as well as getting down to the surface as well as leaving back into space. When I finally get my Cobra MkV fully engineered I will be using it as my primary exobiology ship when ever I need the credits.
Carrier exploration is overrated, I can run out to 5k light-years with the Mandalay, collect nearly a billion exploration and exobiology credits and get back to the bubble faster than I can jump the carrier out that far.
You had me until you mentioned the carrier. The Mandalay is fine tbf. It's a medium ship, so naturally it has a bigger footprint compared when to small class ships. I can also tell you're an exobiologist ;). Fc and small ships are all you need.
A way to put your ship in hover and jet pack in and out would be good, ability to lower a cargo bay ramp would take the game to the next level, launch an srv off a cliff onto the ramp, could have some fun with that.
I don't much care for stats or what's better or best, I just like to fly certain ships. I basically only fly small ships, mainly a Cobra 3, Viper 3 & 4, because that's my character, I'm not a successful big time pilot. That may seem odd, but it feels right to me, it's the role I want to play. I occasionally fly an adder, something about the shape of it is interesting to me, but I just like small DeLacy ships, and I look forward to getting a Mk V one day, but I might just look at it in the garage a lot and fly my old bucket.
I need to get back into Elite. When I can, get the chance. I have been down in my back lately. So I haven't had much seat time. At the computer, lately. But I did buy, the Cobra MK.V. Along with the Mandalay, and the Python MK. II. But so far. The only one I have even spent any seat time in. Was the Mandalay. And that was just on it's maiden test flight. It's the only one I even messed with. Actually dressing her up. With some kits, and a custom paint job. But I will be looking forward to getting back in the seat soon I hope.
Being fairly inexperienced and I also bought this.. yeah I know people say not to.. honestly I don't care, I do not PvP and I just got so sick of the sidewinder or fear of losing better ship I bought. I regret nothing, I just learn better with more powerful hardware than building from ground up as most people prefer. Game has its jank and sometimes I don't really understand things right, it's more stress-free to just pull this ship again if I mess up.
I sadly havent gotten it yet i am still considering waiting for the release to get it for free since i cant find use for that my other ships cant do but damn am i tempted, considering turning into either a piracy ship or speedy bounty hunter once i get it
I just feel like, I have a Diamondback Explorer, which for me is the only small ship I need... well, that and my Vulture. Now if they'd just add the Panther Clipper!
Old ones are still very useful, the SCO stability and fuel consumption of the new ships is a huge improvement over the old ones, but they are still used a lot.
And you never replied to my comment in your previous video. I Told ya! 😂 No worries. Keep the vids coming. O7. My Cobra mk5 th-cam.com/video/M_wlUQSxY_8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=uBKz6RWu6LtSvNGv
This is my favorite ship. The big lower windows make it great for exobiology. And enough modules to to rival a medium ship.
Thanks for being positive about Elite Dangerous. I totally understand that we should hold the devs accountable when they make mistakes, but certain big TH-camrs like Yamiks are too negative at times. The game is brilliant and blows all the other space sim games out of the water.
Totally agree o7
Yamiks is trash, I stopped following him a couple years ago.
This ship is a tiny monster.
I love it.
Always nice to hear your thoughts.
This ship is my go to for everything. Its a great explorer, daily driver, combat ship, and even a great core mining shop
Nice to hear your thoughts on this one, thanks for sharing. I love the cobra mk 3, but the mk 5 just wasn't my cup of tea. I can appreciate the love for it though

Love the cobra V, replaced several small builds of mine. Best small class ship overall imo.
read a few comments and agree. Its a small fast ship with the power of a medium.
With full engineering it really shines.
And the looks? Chef's kiss. 👌
This is one of my favorite ships now and I don't even own it... everything I've seen, from the appearance to performance, is incredible

5k hull no shield build with srb rails impossible to hit mini menace
yep.
I'm a bit surprised because it seemed pretty clear to me the ship would be OP even before she was released...
Sometimes would still get my cobra IV out but now that I have this ship I think it’s gonna be in my garage for good lol
The MK V is my new daily driver, replacing my Conda for that role. It's small, sleek, cheap, and can easily do all the roles a daily driver needs, from small hauling to light combat to even light exploration and Exobio. Great little ship!
You used the Anaconda as a daily drive? Wow respect o7

Yeah I noticed the oversized design as well. It just stands out in stations
It is my fav ship in the game.
That's awesome. For me it's the Mandalay
@ depends what you are doing I guess. Mandalay is a great “go far” ship. Cobra Mk V is a great “shoot things” ship. I like to shoot things lol.
Mando, all day.
Keeping my Mandalay for my main who is out exploring. Using the Mk V for my bubble alt as the daily driver for everything.
Yeah same
its SO COOL!!!!

I need a Vulture MK2 and Krait MK3

Old ships are still pretty awesome. Not long to wait before the Cobra MKV release though
I still haven't flown one...but I will!
Only one and half month left and it'll be out of early access
Wait, hold on. This small ship has THREE seats?!?
Yep
Best. Ship. In. The. Game.
I need to get back into Elite. When I can, get the chance. I have been down in my back lately. So I haven't had much seat time. At the computer, lately.

Of course. Only one and half month to go
I just feel like, I have a Diamondback Explorer, which for me is the only small ship I need... well, that and my Vulture. Now if they'd just add the Panther Clipper!
That's what I thought when I first bought this ship. But it feels way more agile and SCO really do make a big difference
This turns the Cobra Mk III into a small Asp Scout right? Balanced.
More like an upgraded DBX
And what about the old ships? Are they still useful, or have new ships replaced them?
Old ones are still very useful, the SCO stability and fuel consumption of the new ships is a huge improvement over the old ones, but they are still used a lot.
Screw it, i don't want new ships, i want new game loops !
New game loops are coming...
I agree, a year of adding new gameplay would be great, then a year of new ships, rinse repeat.
Agreed. The devs now have a way to fund the development now it's time to invest in back into the game
This is the strongest pvp ship in the game atm
Really? Never would have guessed it
And you never replied to my comment in your previous video. I Told ya! 😂 No worries. Keep the vids coming. O7.
