I did this too, and it really changed the way I shop now. Before i buy anything, I ask myself if this is something I'm going to get rid of later. It really puts perspective on not wasting money.
Wow this video came at the right time, I’ve been contemplating all the stuff I’ve bought recently (home decor, beauty, electronics, etc) and how unhappy I am with bringing more of this stuff into our space. I’ll buy multiples of something to test out and then get annoyed with returning them 😅 or end up keeping them in case I change my mind. You hit the nail on the head with every single point, I relate so much to what you are struggling with also (depression, ADHD), especially the “always searching for the next thing and fixating so much on something” that when you finally get it, it doesn’t bring you the true joy you thought it would. Hearing your struggles was very validating, that we’re not alone in finding ways to live a happier life. Thank you for the inspiration 💕 to declutter and be more thoughtful in purchases, clean things up financially, etc. you’re amazing!!
oh wow 🥹 thank you so much for taking the time to write this sweet comment! i’m so glad that you can relate and you got validation from this 😭 YOU are amazing, reems! 🥰🤍
You are so amazing and love the way you explained everything. This was so amazing and important to watch. I cant thank you enough for taking the time to explain everything in detail and for answering some amazing questions. I hope you had a wonderful Mother's day and wish you the very best day and a wonderful upcoming weekend.
I loved that you found out how much living with less is helping you on different levels😊🤗 We just recently sold our house to downsize and have less to manage hyst in general, including bills... it's been really good and beneficial for my mental health in particular... I feel like I can handle waaayyyy better what life throws at me and the way I respond to it... 💝
So inspirational! I also have been struggling with my mental health since I had my two babies, and i know that having too much stuff is one of the biggest things that is affecting me. Thank you so much for sharing your experience in such a honest way ❤
🎉 It's so great to hear how much this is all helping your mental health. I'm a therapist and I also happen to be into minimalism/simple living (and I'm a Mum and a dog owner like you too!) and it's so interesting to hear you saying your medication doesn't work well for you when your environment is overwhelming. I truly wish I could prescribe minimalism to my clients who have anxiety. There is plenty of research on the effects of a cluttered environment on Cortisol production. It's great to hear you using your platform to let others know of the benefits. You've done a fantastic job, it looks so so great. That lovely sense of peace that living with only what you need and no more is just the BEST isn't it?! You've done your kids a great service too. Mine are thriving in a highly simplified home and it's helping to teach them the value of things by thinking about the longevity and lifecycle of items we buy. This next generation are going to have the biggest challenge of changing our impact on the planet. Teaching them to live only with what they need not what they can buy and throw away feels like doing our bit too, right? ❤ Keep us posted as you start your maintenance phase. I'd love to see videos on organisation of your spaces now you have them simplified. That keeps me motivated to do the same! 😊
thank you so much for this sweet comment, lorna! it feels so good to be validated by a therapist who knows what she's talking about 🥹 i absolutely will keep up with my minimalism journey, i'm so happy you found it too! ☺️🤍
Kenzie you are awesome. I wasn’t planning on decluttering but decided to go on this journey with you. And OMG soo glad I did. I feel so much happy and lighter. It truly is amazing. So thank you very much for the inspiration.❤❤❤
Good for for you, I also have gotten rid of so much stuff! I am very intentional about purchases now as well. I feel much calmer, happier and free now that we are decluttered. Good Will loves me, lol. Great job, you are amazing! 💗
We have been on this journey for over a year now and I do go through each room monthly sometimes everyother but just to see what we use and don't use. I still do need to go thru the basement and attic but the attic will happen once the holiday's roll around cause that's the stuff in there. But I have realized shopping isn't all that fun anymore. I still love my Disney items and decor but it's not all about that stuff anymore. I am happier and I don't have to clean as often either. It's an amazing feeling. I think that each journey is different but it's an amazing feeling it's like I can feel the house breath now. I've donated so much stuff it's crazy but so uplifting. Great job on your journey.
wow, schelly! that is amazing. i am so so happy for you to be on your own journey, it truly is life changing. you’re doing such a great job, and i’m so happy you chose to share this with us 🤍🤭
I completely agree with the decluttering, I did that several years ago, I wouldn't say I'm a minimalist but I am much more intentional about the things I bring into my home. I do ask myself, does this item bring me joy or serve a purpose? I also keep my selfcare and makeup routine very simple, I don't like having all those bathroom products. I like items that can be used multiple ways like ACV, apple cider vinegar, there are so many ways to use this item, for selfcare, for cleaning, for weeds, laundry, etc....by finding one item that is a workhorse you can eliminate several items in your home. Doing these things helped me but the biggest thing that helped me was my relationship with Jesus and submitting to him!
Totally agree with you Leah. A relationship with Our Lord and Savior brings inner joy, peace a contentment - not things. I’ve traveled that road until several years ago. I still do shop; especially home decor, but I’m getting better and better with God’s help. Love the video and this topic. 😊
I have a tip. Remove the thing you don't need (but are emotionally attached to) to a storage area (garage, closet, etc). If you still don't need it/use it or think about it then you should be ok to let it go.
I just wanted to add. You can have a bag ready to go for declutters year round so there's so official end date and the house won't become cluttered again ♥️
I declutter my house twice a year. I go through every room and throw things out i havent used in the last 6 months. The only exception to that is holiday items and dishes, serve ware for parties.
Very wise words Kenzie🙏I identify with everything you said especially the obcessing over having that new thing!! It takes real effort to declutter especially with two young children I applaud you lovely 👏👏👏 Love from Yorkshire England xx
Freaking awesome job purging stuff out of your house isn´t just an awesome feeling? I minimized in 2019 and i have never looked back. Now i just detest stuff i find it tiresome to look at and it gives me anxiety and just makes me annoyed and frustrated. Keep it up kenzie you´ll feel so free and happy i promise
Kenzie I’ve been purging stuff over the past two years. Today I cleared out so much. I’m donating it because my husband doesn’t like when I sell stuff on market place. So bye bye Longaberger. Lol I don’t even use it. We have been renovating and it helps not to have so much stuff. Clothes. Omg! Closets full of clothes Totes full of stuff I don’t even wear. I’ve come to the mind set, that if I go on vacation what would I take and wear and use like bags too. Ever go on vacation and think hmm. I could just live with what I have with me. Free of so much stuff! Make life a vacation. Ahh. Free of stuff. ❤ and here’s another thing. Don’t get sucked into trends! Like a style of living. Oh farmhouse is in. Roosters everywhere. Lol! It will get old fast! I’m 61 years old. Been married forever. And I’ve done all the trends. Just stick to simple and natural and it’ll never get old. Like the new color of the year. Because guess what, next year it’s a new color. Lol ❤ thanks for your videos. You are the sweetest. ❤
this comment is SO relatable!! thank you for this 🫶🏼 i love the “make life a vacation” i’m gonna write that down, new life motto 🤭 you are so right, next year will be a new color anyways so just do what YOU like 🥰 you are the best, joni!!
thanks for your feedback! i literally did not even plug in my microphone to my phone, that was all just from the phone mic 😂 i JUST got a new camera so i’m still playing around with the right audio settings 😊
❤ 👋🏼 Kenzie Just to say … 😊 The Lord Jesus will help you with that anxiety & depression… like he did with me, I’m FREE of depression 🙌🏼& medications and living my life with my little family 🎉 just a humble piece of advice 🥹 Just get help… but from the LORD🌸❤🙏
