Triple Play is a favorite tradition here at Missouri Star Quilt Company. Once a month, Jenny, Misty, and Natalie each demonstrate their own unique spin on a favorite block, technique, or template. In this episode, the talented Doan ladies show off three fabulous new quilts made with the Fence Rail quilt block.
Jenny’s Fancy Fence Rail quilt is made with precut jelly roll strips and layers of decorative borders. Her fabric is Adel in Summer by Sandy Gervais for Riley Blake.
Misty’s Wildflower Pillow and Quilt is made with the Drunkard’s Path template and 10″ layer cake squares from Anew by Tamara Kate for Windham Fabrics.
And Natalie’s Floral Fence Rail quilt is a bundle of fun with fence rails, flying geese, applique, and big stitch embroidery. Her fabric is Brave 10" Squares by Anna Maria Horner for FreeSpirit Fabrics.
UPDATE: Pattern says that you should cut the blocks 4 inches, not 4.5 inches.

Did anyone else find the sound was hard to hear too?
Yes
Yes
for some reason TH-cam stopped sending me notices of the triple play videos. When I realized I haven't seen on in awhile I was terrified you had stopped doing them, so I went to your playlist page and was so happy to find a couple I had missed and that you are still doing them. I love them
Having hard time hearing you all. Some mics not working. Have my volume up to 50. Had to put on CC;)
Loved all three quilts, you ladies are the best.
I love the three very different ways to use the fence rail block. Sew very creative.
Natalie you ARE LOOKING GREAT !!!!!!
Beautiful quilts and fresh ideas. I’ve been looking for an idea for a wall quilt and love your quilt Natalie. I could kick myself, I just gave away a few of those Daisy Kingdom cut outs. Thank you again 😊
Instead of cutting the layer cake into 1.5 inch strips and then sewing them together; I take two layer cake right sides together and stitch down one side and lay my ruler at an inch and a quarter on my stich line and cut once. Then I mix up the fabric and repeat. I press each set open and then sew two sets together. I find that my finished blocks are straighter and more uniformed.
I wish the sound was better on this video today. Must have been a fluke it's usually perfect. Great quilts. I really loved Misty's!
My Goodness! Which one do I make first? So beautiful! Misty’s flower reminds me of a butterfly! Thank you Jenny, Natalie, Misty, & MSQC! You are so sweet & wondeeful❤️🧵🪡
It's so nice to see how happy Natalie is. She found her joy!
All beautiful ladies & quilts, but Natalie...WOW! Colors and assymmetry🌸🩵🌺🎉
As a teacher I just want to thank you for showing everyone that there are many ways to do math. I love the triple play and how you three discuss the different ways you see the patterns or how each one of you would have put things together. I love how you tell everyone that there is no permanent way to do things, just the way that works for YOU. THANK YOU LADIES, YOU ROCK! You are great teachers!
I would really like to see Natalie do more quilts with appliqué and embroidery! I’ve never learned embroidery, but would love to add that skill to my repertoire! Please and Thank You! ❤
I second that!
The ladies are standing on each side of you with the same color blouse on I know not on purpose 😂 both leaning to the side looking at you . I was waiting for a dance and a snap of the finger doo wop tune so cute. Lovely you just gave me a really fun challenge for our guild. Thanks for the fun video.
I just loved all of these quilts. Natalie you look great.
Oh I love Natalie’s! All of course big especially hers is so out of the box! Love!
This video's volume is low. I have noticed this on several of the videos lately. Had to turn my volume up all the way and at some point, it was still hard to hear.
I even had head-phones on and the volume up and it is hard to hear and then Natalie comes booming in. Disappointed. An overhead mic would be the best solution or lapel mics for everyone.
Thank you for reshowing this video! (Volume still to low) but yeah, got to see to the end!
I loved them all. Nat I loved yours . The castle I am sure was unintentional. Step back and look castle in the front and the coach in the background . The fabric lends itself to creation of what I see. Great work as always ladies
All three quilts were beautiful and creative. Natalie, your quilt was my favorite!
Natalie loved you quilt/artwork. Great work. 🇦🇺❤️
Natalie. You are looking fabulous!
You 3 - out did yourselves !

Im totally in love with Natalie's cute little quilt !! Love the material and her applications. ❤❤❤❤😮
What a great triple play. Honestly one of my favorites of all time. I absolutely adore the no waste cute borders Jenny did and Natalie's was incredibly inspiring. Hers would be adorable in seasonal fabrics like Christmas. Halloween, Easter and varieties. Each one could have adorable applique.
Thank you for all your hard work!
Thank you for fixing the glitches. So nice to see Natalie’s to the end.
I really like ALL of these projects.
I love Natalie's quilt. It looks so happy.
All three are very beautiful. ❤❤❤😊😊

The last quilt I made is like Jenny's (minus the squares on point) and I hadn't come across this tutorial yet. So cute
Thank you all. I want to make all three. Natalie yours is amazing.
Oh my Natalie, I love the broderie perse and hand stitches... my nanna also did embroidery/crewel work. This is so stonkingly beautiful. I love the bright and joyful colours. They are all so beautiful, so different, so much talent.🎉🎉🎉 hugs all
Jen's quilt reminds me of a licorice alsorts. Fun and delicious 😅
Been sewing with all of you for so long “Thank You So Much”. ❤❤
Loved all of the quilts! They are all beautiful! Want to give a shout out to Natalie for always having unique, unconventional, beautiful quilts. She really thinks outside of the box.
Jenny'@ quilt might just be the happiest quilt I've ever seen. Can hardly wait to make one!

Love ❤ Natalie’s wall quilt so much. All three quilts on this episode are quilts I would make. Love them all!
I love all three quilts !! GEORGEOUS!!❤❤❤❤❤
I love that Jenny changed it up with the borders. Brings a whole new vibe to the fence rail quilt. Thank you!! Great video.
It’s very cool that you show these people how to put it together and how to cut it. Thanks.
Beautiful quilts, ladies. Love all three of them!! ❤❤😊
Natalie, you look fantastic! Love triple play day
Natalie, you look amazing! Jenny you and Missy do too!
All three are fabulous
Triple Play is my favorite Missouri Quilt tutorial and this one is fabulous❣️I’m going to share it with my quilt group. I cannot even pick a favorite from the three and I think I need that ruler set that Misty used and I love the creativity of Natalie’s piece. And, by the way Natalie, you look so healthy. Thank you all for your informative, interesting, creative tutorials.
Thank you for resolving the black screen at the end of the first video. It was great to see Natalie finish the embroidery she was doing and the closing of the show. I truly enjoyed today’s tutorial. Thanks, Jenny, Natalie and Misty!💖💖💖
Misty - your nails look beautiful!
Oh that’s so much better, thank you for doing the demonstration straight on instead of in the corner, love your quilts, you are all so talented 🩷💛💚
I really like each of these projects because the rail fence is made with 2,3,or 4 strips. Thanks for the inspiration!
I think I’ve left this comment before but just have to say it again. First of all I love all of the quilts in this triple play video. The colors really speak to me. Jenny seems to create traditional designers, Misty tends toward the modern and Natalie shows her true artist heart in her designs. I love the idea of a little embroidery on Natalie’s quilt. I will be incorporating it in my next quilt and wall hanging. A true piece of art.
Natlie, you look wonderful. Keep up the good work!
Thank you as always! ❤❤❤
I couldnt hear Misty. But, her design was beautiful. love the pillow
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT BEAUTIFUL!
Natalie I love your little hanging quilt, it would make a quick and beautiful gift.
They are all Beautiful, but Jenny, I'm head over heals in love with your quilt!!! Amazing guys 😊
Pink themed quilt So cute. Great for young girl.
Misty's glue dab tip is added to my skillset.
Your mic must be down cuz can hardly hear you.
I had to turn on my cc to see what they were saying. Definitely couldn't hear it.
Seemed Misty didn't have a microphone. The quilts were really cute and colorful. Hand embroidery makes something specia for sure.
Sound has been an issue on several of their recent videos.
I just think all quilts were very creative!! How fun!!😍😍😍
I harvested my potatoes this morning, and will keep some for next year. Easiest harvest ever using potato bags, I just tipped each one over and got every tater;)
Then inside for triple play. Sweet life.
I 😍 Natalie's combination best.
All beautiful, but Natalie, yours stands out as an art piece. Simply gorgeous! Thank you ladies!
You quilts are so lovely
I must have Nataleigh’s art quilt!!
Btw Nataleigh is looking AMAAAZING!!!
Really cute ideas but I loved Jenny's
You three look so pretty in pink. Love the quilts and how you make them look so easy.
Jenny, you’ve so patiently taught me. Love your tutorials and love the way your personality comes through.
Triple Play is my favorite Friday. I get so inspired by the variations. Thank you.
🙏🥰 that is so amazing. I cry when I open the video. Thank you.😊
I love all of these and am already having ideas for the wall hanging. Thank you ladies for such an informative and fun video. xxx
For a simple rail fence these projects were all sooooo cute!! I love the way Jenny repeated the block cuts for the border and fabric was so cute. I also love the design Missy did - it was so clever using the circle template to make the block look so unique. My favorite was Natalies cute, cute, wall hanging - I cant wait to try it with simple rail fence blocks and flying geese were so colorful, but I loved the simple applique to finish the design - very pretty, I intend to make for my sewing room - thank you!!!Bev
You, dear ladies look fabulous! 💗💗💗
I always enjoy your Triple Play videos. Please check your audio when providing instructions. I had to increase volume to maximum especially with Misty's instructions. Thank you.
I loved all the quilts but the quilt that really spoke to me was Misty’s. It looks absolutely beautiful and really complex.
Natalie is so creative and looking really glamorous
Love them all!
The colors of Jenny's quilt! How bright & cheerful!
Natalie, you look fantastic! Congratulations!!
Love the wall hanging really cute idea… and inspiring. Misty, you challenge us with this pattern… I’m thinking spring colors… so it’s on the back burner, but I might try the pillow with “left over” Christmas fabric. Jenny, you made that “complicated “ quilt easy! Again!!!
@ Nathalie, love, love, love your quilt!
You’re right. You three hit it out of the park. Since Natalie said her “list” wasn’t long, I want to be on it too! I make charity baby quilts/adult lap rugs & love how your patterns can be adapted. It’s such fun to me to watch how your different hearts/minds use the same basic pattern/s & come up w such variety. I watch y’all w my morning coffee each Friday. Thanks.
thanks for the re-issuing of the video - it was nice to see the last part!
I really appreciated your efforts to think outside the design box, so to speak! We’ll look forward to more of your creativity.
Girls, you have made some beautiful quilts! I love all three of them; the fabrics you have chosen are wonderful, colorful, fresh and summery. Thank you! Martha
