    This is the first TH-cam video I have seen of the new Beckman 9422, and I'm happy people are sharing their thoughts. I also bought this model soon as it was available. I bought mine in the same size as my Iron Rangers, which is half-size-down from my Brannock measurement. Out of the box I thought mine looked a little small, but they fit perfectly -- my foot volume is lower than most, I think. For boots constructed in the USA, I wasn't too put off by the price, but I do have "nicer" $400 boots. Thanks for the video!

      @@YouShoe-1985I really wish they made a 12.5D as well, I am contemplating whether the 13D is at all possibly with an insole or if I am better off to skip it and see what Red Wing has for store come February at their anniversary? I talked to a corporate rep in store(touring and education for the Beckman and Alpine Launch) during the buy two for $112 a piece and was informed all their anniversary boots should be coming out then. Knock on wood of course.

    Great pair of boots. I started my boot journey with RWs and bought only RWs for a time. But once I tried different bootmakers I found it difficult to go back. RW is also available in locally in my country. But the appeal of trying different leathers from different tanneries and soles options is too great. But I must admit when I saw the announcement for these Beckman's I was tempted. Even more so after your video!

    12:00 👏👏👏 this! This right here, been looking for opinions on sizing other than just "same as IR, Blacksmith, No.8 but more slim" I have an old pair in cherry that are slightly looser than my same size IR. Local places hardly carry these so sizing is a big question. For around 460 you can actually order the 9060 from japan and I might consider it having wider feet and being happy with the no.8 last. Still happy they brought it back stateside though.

    Love redwings but was also hoping the return of the Beckham would be more like the older versions, but these look very nice also, more of a dressy option but still functional as an everyday boot.

    I can’t do Red Wings anymore… I love all my Iron Rangers after I had to drop an extra $200-$300 to put a proper thick leather midsole, new soles and welt. These boots are beautiful but I still think Parkhurst offers a superb product at the same price range. Great job bud!

    Really nice pair of boots and qc are usually good on Red Wings. Bit confused that they changed the last to a more dressy last and then decided to put speedhooks on it which then makes it less dressy? Also wish they had released them in wide sizes.

    I'm the same size as you (13D) and find the same problems with the lack of half sizes above US12 from a number of brands. I usually go US13D and use insoles.
    I have a large collection of insoles from many brands that I've collected over the years and includes everything from thin leather insoles with a couple of millimetres of padding, superfeet and other orthotic insoles and even a few more supportive insoles harvested from running shoes that I've owned in the past.
    I can usually find something that takes up the space and without crushing my toes.
    It also makes hard leather footbeds more forgiving.
    Often brands like Thursday boots get criticised but they do offer half sizes up to US13 in their American made Vanguard and up to size US14 in some of their other boots unlike internet favourites like Grant Stone.

    • @YouShoe-1985
      @YouShoe-1985  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Great point about Thursdays, and I probably should just size up and use an insole but I love breaking in the leather insole

    • @UnknownUser-rb9pd
      @UnknownUser-rb9pd 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@YouShoe-1985 I agree there is something satisfying about that but I find even broken-in traditionally made boots with leather footbeds generally get a little uncomfortable with my skinny feet (high arches, thin footpads) after two to three miles of walking on pavements or hard surfaces.
      I also own a lot of British and European boots and they are more frequently true to size so I have broken plenty of boots in the traditional way (and still do) but now I am older and heavier I find that using a lightly cushioned leather insole or even an EVA insole harvested from a pair of running shoes extends the time and distance I can wear boots comfortably. This also applies to wedge soled boots with leather footbeds.
      This is an interest for me and this sort of boot are not something I have ever actually needed to wear so if I decide to wear traditional boots for more than a few hours at a time I usually grab a pair that I can put a cushioned insole into or use a pair of Thursday boots or similar.

    Beautiful boots, but they should not have been named Beckman. Beckman 2.0 maybe? It's a marketing stunt to sell to those who felt they mised out on the original - which, by the way looked more distinctive

    • @Vultain
      @Vultain 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @@YouShoe-1985The original had the farm and country last 8 and upper. Most of the sizing issues on the original Beckman were people simply not accounting for boot socks. The original Beckman was intended for men's dress socks and people needed to half size up if they intended to wear modern day boot socks.
      I have an 11.5D 9411, beautiful boots and my best fit! But I have to wear them with non cushion dress socks. If I wanted to wear my boot socks I would have needed a 12D. I think people didn't realize how much the lining and the way the toebox was made different. It didn't have a bump toe per say but was overall wider than a modern day Red Wing.
      The original reason for the Roccia Outsole was to accommodate the bigger footprint of the boot. The OG Beckman was originally patterned with a real leather sole and a half leather soled heel.
      Unfortunately a lack of education on how to care for it. Featherstone being a mineral tanned hide(actual metals) and a finish made for penetrants such as pine and mineral spirits(Saphir products). Made it so people wondered why their conditioners would just sit on top!
      I think the original Beckman could have been their best boot ever with proper salesman education and better knowledge given on the website! Overall it was the sheer unadulterated number of returns that killed this boot and started its discontinuation.
      It was very much a victim of misinformation and miseducation on part of the salesman and the consumer and a true pity. It was my best fitting Red Wing(ready to wear boot) and I would truly love to find another.

    Well, what a beauty 🤩. I really love boots with that kind of leather midsole and rubber outsole. It’s kind of confusing the new lasting size fi. Fortunately for you it appears that it fit. A shame they didn’t make them with the unstructured toe like the Japanese Beckman.

    • @Vultain
      @Vultain 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      From what I have heard the 220 had it's own patterning and almost always fit TTS, the new 224 last is slimmed down as well but fits a half a size in most cases above your Iron Ranger size. They adjusted the HTB for that specifically.
      Overall the 224 uses the modern day Beckman uppers but they used the toebox more of the Williston.
      In my experience the insole is a full size half smaller from a moc toe to a full size smaller than the last 8 when checking the length I have. I have a larger high in-step low volume but long toes so your mileage will vary.
