I lucked out last Aug when I went to the Red Wing store in Red Wing, MN. Tucked away in the corner on a shelf of their downstairs seconds section was a pair of Beckman 9016 in Cigar featherstone leather. I was so surprised to see they were my size in EE. Tried them on, paid for them and haven't looked back. One of my most worn boots. And the break in, rather easy. I had no problems. So I went back this year and picked up the 8111 to go with my 8085. At about $100 off retail I can't and won't complain. Keep up the good work.
Honestly, I’d be lying if I said that I’d buy the Beckman but I do think that Red Wing doesn’t treat their American customer base with the same respect as their international customer base.
They sell it in England like regular stock but not available in the USA because … ? Perhaps is they figured it out that maybe is not the boots style but something else like the same boring colors and manufactured an edition of different unusual colors or even different colors in their soles they will sell better, that’s too much to think ? Bring them back to the American market !
Only issue with Redwing is, once you find something you love they discontinue it. I sort of miss the cork soles on the iron ranger and blacksmith, vibram mini lug is good but I prefer the cork soles. Still offered the cork sole on the 1178 pecos but guess what, discontinued.
People complained about the break in period? What do you expect from a beefy leather slab, midsole heritage boot? Buy yourself a pair of doc martens instead 😂😂
I have the 9011s. I had to purchase them from across the pond. Beautiful boot! I have 5 pairs of RW boots...and the Beckmans are by far the longest break-in. But, that black cherry tho.
Worse break in but I actually blame the short laces they send them in. Pop in leather, bam, problem solved. Most comfortable Red Wing I own by far! I personally think this as silly as it might sound caused the majority of the break in issues.
I miss the quality of the Utility boots Chippewa made back int the 70's and the pair of Lotus Veltschoen boots I had in the 80's. To me long break in period = quality durable leather.
If you go to the SE Asia Redwing site they have tons of different boots and a crazy range of leathers to choose from. Redwing still makes all these "discontinued" heritage boots like the old loggers, heritage Pecos, Beckman etc etc, they just won't sell them to their customers in the USA. Why does Redwing hate America? (this is only half sarcasm. Seriously wtf Redwing?)
I've seen Beckman on my local Red Wing shop , I saw many bad reviews on the sole wearing off very quickly and the lose look like melted rubber when it worn down. No speed hooks, and not so sleek look with that sole. I just go for black Blacksmith and blacken the white stiches and shine it up. That boot made it thru formal photoshoot and events.
My favorite RW boot... I customized my 9016s by sending them to Wyatt & Dads for a 360° stormwelt, Dogger heel, and converted them to an unstructured toebox.
9411 and 9416 are coming back to the U.S. this fall. I saw the catalog for them when I was recently at a Red Wing store. These are black cherry and cigar with an unstructured toe box.
Nothing else in RW's Heritage roster appeals anymore. Rangers? Got 'em, they fit bad and have clacky soles. Moc Toes? Uppers are nice, but hate the way the soles get rounded and blobby. BRING BACK THE BECKMAN. Jeezus.
I just bought an old pair of 9014 and had no idea of the history. ~ Cool. Black, In really great shape. Size 12D. should I resell them? $150 Purchase was just coincidence.
I was just in my local Red Wing store two days ago and the manager said the Beckman’s will be coming back in December. She didn’t have any info on leather type, but they’re making a comeback!
By far my favorite pair of boots I’ve ever owned!!! Bought them new the year they were discontinued, and will never get rid of them. So sad they’re gone.
I got lucky. I ordered a pair of blacksmiths on Amazon 2 months ago, and they were on sale for $220, when I got them I noticed that they sent me a pair of beckmans. I decided to keep them and I love them. Of course I ordered a pair of blacksmiths later.
Have a couple pairs I do not wear much due to the large boot collection and rotation. Also, have a collaboration pair with a store that has the regular sole but an Iron Ranger upper.
I want the 2950 Rover to return. Copper R&T Blacksmith upper on a "coffee cushion" sole. And the 8876, if I could have two choices. And I like my Merchants. Maybe some Spitfire leather options. Okay, so I want a lot.
Red Wing knows that Japanese market has a larger demographic for American heritage and Ivy League styles than the American demographic and can charge more for it. The majority of Americans only purchase quality boots for OSHA requirements. The rest of the time we wear cheaply made formal footwear and sneakers. The small % of Americans that can afford or are enthusiast can with a little effort, purchase from the asian market while Red Wing keeps their US offerings very lean and discontinue a line after a few yrs. It’s not about hating Americans it’s about being a successful business and taking a rather common product 118 yrs ago and catering to the largest market that keeps them relevant. What used to be footwear for blacksmiths, loggers, carpenters, farmers etc… has been replaced w/ more comfort, steel toed, lightweight alternatives. The heritage line is basically a fashion line only. High demand, low volume, Jack up the price… ECON 101.
I've owned a pair of Beckman for around 10 years now, they have been my beater boot for a while now. Back then when I got them I wasn't aware about sizing/fit so they are like two sizes too big for me. Now I can't wear them anymore because a big bump formed on the heel inside the boot and I don't want to spend to rebuild a boot that's too big for me. I wish they were still around so I could but them again in my size!
Had a short chat in the Redwing-Store in Berlin/Germany: the Beckman will come back 👍🏼
Aged like wine
It is available, now.

It's because non Americans pay MORE for Red Wings
It's finally back!
It’s officially back!
i missed out on beckmans new for $360 aud 😓
I love mine. I have them in Bourbon Yuma and after break in, they're comfortable.
Actually have a pair coming in tomorrow that I got on eBay.
Just found out they are bringing it back.
Well, per a store employee. Which now that I'm further in the video may not be reliable. He said this fall.
Yup
Beckman's are my favorite Red Wings. they should bring them back.......and the Rover's too
Store employees usually don't know squat about the heritage line. It's not Red Wing's bread and butter.
The beckmans are back!
They sell it in England like regular stock but not available in the USA because … ? Beckman Turner Overdrive
RW sucks. They killed off their good styles, collaborations, etc.
アメリカには他にも素敵なブーツがあるよね。
if you are in a $700+ range you may as well buy something new from Whites or Nicks.
Good! Keep it discontinued… I have 8 pairs of beckmans and they grow more valuable each year … lol jk… I own 7 pairs
Lol that’s awesome

No worries. Its coming back tomorrow.
I have insider information that redwing is going to reintroduce this model in 2024. 🎉
People complained about the break in period? What do you expect from a beefy leather slab, midsole heritage boot? Buy yourself a pair of doc martens instead 😂😂
The answer is yes btw.
I have the 9011s. I had to purchase them from across the pond. Beautiful boot! I have 5 pairs of RW boots...and the Beckmans are by far the longest break-in. But, that black cherry tho.
Amazing boot. Got them in black before they pulled it. Leather is like butter after break in.
Got burgundy..very comfortable indeed..mine need resole soon as the sole starts to crack now.
I still have a pair of new 9014 black Beckman in stock.
Worse break in but I actually blame the short laces they send them in. Pop in leather, bam, problem solved. Most comfortable Red Wing I own by far! I personally think this as silly as it might sound caused the majority of the break in issues.
Agree big time. First thing I did was replace the laces with longer ones! Break in still took forever but now they are extremely comfortable.
Chief Red Wing was not the founder; Bob Dylan with his song Walls of Red Wing was not the founder: Charles Beckman was the founder! I love mine...
Red Wing sucks. Them killing this boot is why I stopped buying their boots.
It has more synthetic and plastics in it than the other red wings

Theyre for sale on the Red Wing website right now.
It's back! 2024!
IF YOU’RE HERE IN FALL 2024, BECKMAN IS BACK BBBAAABBBBYYYYY.
We are so mf back right now
Good luck finding them in Japan. I’ve visited multiple stores and the few that have Beckmans will carry one size (really big or really small).
I went to Singapore and they had a full size run of the flat boxes
@@aijofqiouasfjhioasfjak Yeah they seem to have made a return in Japan also. Red Wing decided to start manufacturing them again I guess.
Any plans for reviewing the new Beckman’s that were just released in the US?

I think the Beckmans are overrated. I like my Blacksmiths way more than my Beckmans. In fact, I’m thinking of selling my barely worn Beckmans.
Europe doesn't get them in moste cases. When we do they are limited edition and go for more money
Haha just want to say that you were wrong man!!! The Beckman is coming back in 2 days!!!
They should bring that back and the merchant
Blacksmith is restocked 🔥🔥🔥
This is a great video
They are coming.

Mind sharing what that cost you, all in? My 9016s are about due for a resole and I wouldn't mind increasing the water resistance.
@@kenstrohm2011 Sure... about $300, about a year ago. You might wanna double check, prices may have possibly changed. Good luck!
Love my Beckmans. Have them in every color
chestnut is a great option
Black cherry ?

I have the Beckmans in Cigar tan. I love them but don’t wear them often because Red Wing discontinued them before I could buy another pair. 😢
I found a pair of Beckman for $75 on eBay. Almost new he missed labeled the sizes.
Good news for me:) I have some 9411 8d\10d 9414 8d/10d 9416 8/9/10d deadstock for sell.
I recently got a beautiful pair of 9060s on auction and I’m breaking them in, painful but so worth it, they look amazing.
Bro what? I got brand new factory seconds cigar blacksmiths for 225 a year ago
They need to start selling the plain toe again (with thr traction tred sole).
Have a couple pairs I do not wear much due to the large boot collection and rotation. Also, have a collaboration pair with a store that has the regular sole but an Iron Ranger upper.
That’s the part of any boot enthusiast, the break is half the fun
Its the perfect business casual boot
Please bring the Beckman back!

lol, you're not alone in basically wanting everything haha
Love your videos always informational
Good video.

The Japanese pay more for red wings than Americans will
