I have had my Anova 900 since 2016 and it has been tested hard to say the least. I have converted countless co-workers by my office desk steaks alone. I bought this new one last night on a whim. Time will tell but if it’s even better then the original, I have made a great decision and watching this video has me happy with my purchase already.
I bought mine based on your review, and on the research I did spurred on by your review. It arrived just today, and I will be testing it tonight or tomorrow. It is a VERY substantial machine, and it looks as if it is very well engineered. It fits perfectly through the port in the "C10L-AP Lid for LIPAVI C10 Sous Vide Container, with cut-out for the Anova Precision immersion circulator" from Amazon. The main thing for me is the fact that you don't need to connect the device with anything else like your WiFi access point or your smartphone via Bluetooth like the Joule, which I first bought, ruined $40 worth of meat when it failed connection (and could therefore NOT be controlled in any way) on the first use after it started cooking, and then promptly returned the next day. I'll post again once I've used the Anova a few times.
Great review and you are very knowledgeable, Sir. I got mine yesterday and you are quite correct. Mine works perfectly. The temperature is spot on and the WiFi connects easily. Users that are having problems connecting may not be following the instructions. Do not run sous vide once it is plugged in, otherwise, it will nonnect to your 2G WiFi.
Tip: I’ve used this sous vide machine before (my GF had one) but the first circulator I owned was a Kitchen Fun (yes that’s the brand) 1100 watt sous vide: virtually silent, well made, heats water up very quickly and maintains the set temperature to within .5 of a degree. It’s currently $25 ( plus $10 shipping) on eBay. All these machines do is warm up the water and then circulate it at the temperature you set. There’s nothing complicated about them and you don’t need an expensive one to do the job. The only differences between this $249 Anova and my $25 Kitchen Fun is 1) mine can’t be controlled remotely and 2) mine has a maximum cook time of 99 hours (but even beef brisket needs no longer than 48 hours). Neither of these limitations is worth paying the $225 price difference IMO.
So true. We went with the Joule and it was a terrible experience needing an app to (sometimes) connect. Frustrating. We then tried the mid level Anova and its very loud. Finally I gave up and got a generic mono price off Amazon and its been amazing and simple. Turns out we do not need the WiFi feature at all and the unit is identical to the older Anova pro model. With appliances simple is good!
My son and his wife are in Guam in the NAVY, and he mentioned to me that another friend has brought a sous vide device to cook on past occasions. Your review convinced me to order one for his Christmas 2020 present. No doubt he'll love the idea of using a cooler in the future when he's able to cook up some boar with friends!
I've given a number of Sous Vide Circulators away as gifts and they are ALWAYS well received and used! Perfect gift in my opinion and Anova circulators from the least expensive to the highest price (this one) are all outstanding. I am a semi-retired heavy helicopter pilot, former Army Aviator and was on a Navy Defense Contract for two years supplying Navy Battlegroups from a supply ship in the Pacific. Our ship was sort of based out of Guam and I know the Navy Base there VERY VERY well! These days, I'm just a trophy "wife" and arm candy for my wife who is an active duty colonel in the Air Force. Cheers!
@@ElfChef Awesome! I'm going to use your link to purchase, as I imagine you will also earn a few points from Amazon. THANK YOU for your military service and that of your wife. Hello Elf's Cooking. I have a restaurant and bought this unit a couple of days ago, (Still on its way). Im looking for a case for this unit like a crazy person. I have the older Anova 900 watt unit, and the case is a very important piece for comercial use, keeps the user organized and respectful towards the machine. My employees clean the machine and dry after every use before returning to the case...it works. So im glad you got to the case topic in this review. Im going to try the fit for the 1200 watt pro on my current 900watt case. Im going to control myself a bit, until the case for this unit is made....or maybe get a pelican case...
Thanks for the comment. The case I use that fits both the 900w and the new Pro is the XANAD Hard Case on Amazon. I own three of them for my two 900's and one for the PRO. While the 900's fit perfectly as that is what the case was designed for, the PRO fits snugly and the only difference is that the power cord can't use the slot designed for the 900. Nonetheless, the cord still fits without issue and the case closes easily. Very pleased with these cases. You can check it out at amzn.to/2YDtO9P. Bon Appetit!
Hi I need help. Got mine on july 18 2020 got it for my girlfriend’s birthday and as an engagement gift too. And yesterday I proposed to her (july 27 2020) today as were trying it out nothing else works aside from the plus button. Please help me I even got the pro latest model. And Im trying to return it to the place where I bought it from ( online shopping here in philippines) theyre saying that I cant return it because its passed 7 days already!!
6:29 I just bought a Coleman 48 qt cooler that looks just like yours (I was looking specifically for the cooler that looked like yours). Did you have any problems with the steam coming up the Anova Water Circulator and damaging the Control Head? In another youtube video that I saw, the person in it said if the hole snugly fits the Circulator, then steam can come up and damage the Anova. He recommended cutting a larger hole to let the steam out. Here's the video: th-cam.com/video/sAqxxRHB4jI/w-d-xo.html
Hi Georg, I understand your concern. What I do is wrap a damp towel around the circulator just above the lid. It keeps steam from escaping to the top of the circulator. Works perfectly. Bon Appetit!
Not attempting to be a Jerk. I Highly recommend a remote mic, lapel mic or output meter... your audio is hard to hear, and my laptop is turned all of the way up... and then the audio jumped way up. Depending on your editing software, there are probably what are called audio normalization settings, which should generally average out the sound levels. However, all of my fussin' aside (LOL)... I thank you for taking the time to purchase and review this product.
Sound levels are fine. Others have been asked to look again without the same issues. Sorry you're having problems, but think it is mostly on your side. Cheers
@@ElfChef I don't know about you, but when a company charges $400 for a device that they falsely advertised with working Bluetooth and wifi connectivity, that's called fraud and a scam.

Hey does it change temp when its operating and the top gets wet?
No, the top is sealed. Water will not affect anything unless it's submerged, but then who knows. But....not just getting wet. Cheers!
