      I can tell you about the tent I use now. But that one is not easy to find... I combined parts of different brands. The inside tent part is of Vaude (it is in fact only half a tent), I added extra poles a friend had in her garage, and then a tarp of Eureka brand goes over it. 😋 All in a nice stealthy kaki colour. For ground sheet I first used a rain poncho, now a plastic table cloth. It's the right side for me and my little doggie. All of the gear I carry on my bicycle fits in it.

    I own this tent since 2017 and I really love it, made a lot of tours with it. My only complaint is the colour which is too noticeable. You presented this tent very well! 6 month in this tent, respect!

    Absolutely Brilliant Review Guys, I am thinking of buying this tent to use in the mountains for solo wild camping and think you may have talked me in to buying it, most of my Hikes and camps are one night so I think it would be just right and very good for the price, Take Care and stay safe, Les.

      It is our pleasure, glad that it was helpful to you, it is a great quality tent for the price, hopefully you will like it. There is also a 1 person tent in this range which is even lighter but of course quite a bit smaller in size. Take care too and stay in touch, let us know how you like it if you end up purchasing it:)

    Excellent review. This tent was also my companion on my last two bike trips and it is funny to see that you ran into exactly the same problems that I had, e.g. the first setup. Eventhough I usually travel alone, I took the 2 person version, since I carry quite some stuff with me (I'm a laptop nomade), and it exactly fits my needs. Wouldn't sleep in there with my (not so keen on camping) partner though. OK, a self-standing tent would be nice, but I would not be surprised if I would keep it for a good couple of years more. By the way, I do use a ground sheet with it.

    • @WalkingNatureWorld
      @WalkingNatureWorld  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for leaving a comment sharing your experience. Yeah, it is funny that you can relate to the struggle we had at first:) We still think this is an excellent tent especially for the occasional trips. And probably for one person it is much more comfortable too. Hope it will serve you for a long time, it is very robust so it should be possible. Especially with the ground sheet as we found that the thing that wore down the most was the ground of it and that was obviously because we didn't take as much care of it. Where did you get your ground sheet at?

    A well made review of a tent guys! A unboxing or first impression can hardly compare to something that has been used for a while. I know I'm a bit late, but I have an answer to the "why does the pole have two different ends ?" question ! I own the Quickhiker 3, the bigger one with two poles.
    under the "entrance" of the sleeve where you put the pole, you'll find a strap with a little black ring on it. You're supposed to put the pole through it, grey end first. Pull it all the way through, and you'll find the white ball is too big to go through it. Once that's done, thread the pole into the sleeve, white ball first. Pitch your tent like normal.
    The interesting bit is when you fold it. Pull the pole out, and it'll stay stuck because of the white ball being bigger than the ring. Then, fold the pole starting on the other side. Close to the ring, there should be an elastic, that's attached to the rest of the tent. This means you can tie the pole folded, then fold the tent, and use the pole as the center when you roll everything up. It means the pole, the room and the flysheet are all attached, and you don't risk loosing anything. I find that very convenient on the QH3, that has two poles, because it means I don't have to figure out which is the longer one, which makes pitching in the dark or when I'm tired very easy.

    • @WalkingNatureWorld
      @WalkingNatureWorld  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, thank you for leaving such a detailed explanation! It can be useful for many people. This is actually a brilliant idea from the manufacturer to make the setting up and folding more simple. We haven't figured out it that well when using it:)

    • @Loweene_Ancalimon
      @Loweene_Ancalimon 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WalkingNatureWorld Hope it helps ! Inside the compression bag, the outer one with the straps, there should be a big tag with drawings about how to pitch it up and fold it. I think that's where I got the information from for my QH3.
      I actually really like that because I tend to forget stuff everywhere, and it just gives me extra peace of mind.

    Hey, I just found your channel and think this video is great. Very informative and a must-see for everyone that considers buying this tent. I have this tent at home and only used it for 2 days so far. Everything seems fine.
    One thing: The red strings for the ventilation also have the black tightening mechanism. But for me that does not work? Or does it work differently? Anyway I just use muscle force to tension it and it has been super good so far.
    Greetings from Germany,
    Mike

    • @WalkingNatureWorld

      Thank you very much for the kind feedback! Really glad that you find this video useful, we tried to include as much information as possible in it. And we plan on doing more reviews like this in the future only after testing the equipment for quite a long time. This truly is a great tent for its money, it never failed us and as we said we spent more than 6 months in it and it survived many different weather conditions including heavy rain for many hours and strong winds. Yes, ventilation strings have a tightening mechanism and we show how we tighten them at 4:40. It is a bit hard to describe in words but you need to adjust the tension on them moving appropriately and then it should tighten itself when you move it as it has a clamp and will smash into the string naturally, you don't have to do anything special. So it is just a matter of practice, let us know how it goes. Hopefully you will continue using it and enjoying it! Let us know if you'll have more questions.

  • @pdacollinsgmail

    Good review. There is not much if only one other review I've seen on TH-cam of this model. I believe the tent setup is designed for wind and wet conditions. The ideal and easiest way to set it up it peg one end, put in the centre pole and then pull the other end and peg it in. That way the hoop stands up, you have the tent taut and the insides remain dry. It's more or less a clone of the Tarptent Scar 1 and 2, but 1/4 the price. 😀

    We have an MSR Elixir 1 and 3. We use the Elixir 1 for solo trips and Elixir 3 for couple trips, mostly bike touring but we'll be going on a backpacking trip this summer. We love both tents but they are not ultralight.

    • @WalkingNatureWorld
      @WalkingNatureWorld  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Ronnel! Thanks for sharing your own favorite tent. We actually made our mind to order the MSR elixir as well but for two people. We haven't tested it yet but we already can see that it is so much more spacious than our previous one, it deels like we upgraded to a new big home:) We know that it is not ultralight but we like that it has more durable materials, how easy it is to set up and its green color. For how long have you been using your MSR, have you faced any troubles? Do you use your tent with a footprint?

    • @RonnelB.
      @RonnelB. 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@WalkingNatureWorld Hey guys, we've been using both tents for about 3 years. As I mentioned before, we mostly do bike touring. We found that even though the two person versions is spacious, we still needed more space when doing 2-3 week trips. For backpacking we're going to bring the 3 person tent. However, we'll just split the weight. We love the tents. They are strong in wind and are waterproof. The vestibules are huge! We always use a footprint (which comes with the tent). The tent's floor is a bit thin, so we don't want to risk poking a hole in it. I hope this helps. Where are you guys from by the way? I'm American but live in France.

    • @WalkingNatureWorld

      Thanks for sharing your experience of using it, as we are just starting any information would be useful. Lol on paper tent seems solid, but real life durability or long term reviews are missing. Until now i found two issues with it, one is weight, it's slightly on higher side and 2nd was pitching it. No, unfortunately you are right, it seems like it was available some time ago on amazon.com here: www.amazon.com/Decathlon-Quechua-QUICKHIKER-ULTRALIGHT-PEOPLE/dp/B01DWBIW4Y/?tag=mightyg-20
      It is only available on decathlon stores throughout Europe so if you will be travelling here or have some friends who can buy it for you, it may be an option.
      Also it is in stock on Australian Decathlon: decathlon.com.au/products/quickhiker-ultralight-hiking-tent-2-persons-3721?variant=30892590530671

    do you still have the tent? how long has it lasted?

    • @WalkingNatureWorld
      @WalkingNatureWorld  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have had it for more than two years and it was still in good condition before we upgraded to a new MSR Elixir 2. But it wasn't because of the bad condition just for comfort reasons. So we think it could have lasted for 2 years more easily with a heavy use.

      We know, they have a new upgraded model of this tent. It is not the exact same tent but very similar, with some added features, just a bit more expensive. It is available here: www.decathlon.co.uk/p/tunnel-trekking-tent-2-person-mt900-ultralight/_/R-p-323505

    Do you use a groundsheet?

    • @WalkingNatureWorld
      @WalkingNatureWorld  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, actually in this one it doesn't come in the kit and we chose not to use it separately. We found that it has a nice thick polyester floor on its own and doesn't necessarily need a groundsheet.

    You said it's 4.2 kilogram or 2.2 pounds which is wrong. On your tent bag it shows 1.96 kilogram which is about 4 pounds. Decathlon now rebranded this tent from Quechua to Forclaz. I wonder why.... Also the new Forclaz Ultralight Hiker 2 now weight 2,05 kilogram according to Decathlon website.

    • @WalkingNatureWorld
      @WalkingNatureWorld  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There may be a bit of confusion with the conversion to pounds, sorry for that. But we did say it is 1.95 kg in the video here at 0:58. You are right that they changed the brand of it but we want to believe that it is still a good quality tent. The weight difference is weird though.

  • @richardabazley

    It's like a decent tent but way too heavy for me. I really like the Tarptent Moment that it resembles but is half the weight. For light tents on a budget it has to be 3FUL and Naturehike these days...

    • @WalkingNatureWorld

      It can be a bit heavy for some people, we just find that it works for us, especially concerning the quality. We know that Naturehike offers a wide variety of tents too.

  • @Norak17

    Definately this tent quechua quick hiker is really not lightweight because I used for many years...... this tent take lots of space in the backpack and 1.96 kg really heavy compared to others tent... Nordisk lofoten 500 g and the Nordisk telemark 2 lw 950g ! Both tent Nordisk can fit 2 person inside !!!

    • @WalkingNatureWorld
      @WalkingNatureWorld  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is not very lightweight it is true, but this is one of the lightest tents Decathlon provides, and for the price range and quality it is acceptable. Thanks for the other tent recommendations.

    Hey, for your needs I would recommend the following tent in the links at the end of the comment.
    it is around the same pricepoint as the one in the video.
    (1 link is for the 2 person tent and the other is for a 3 person tent) -> I would also recommend that you always subtract one person when choosing a tent, so that you can fit gear and be more comfortable, so in this case I recommend the 3 person tent if it is for 2 people)

      Hi, Antonio, thanks for the suggestion, it seems like it is a new addition to their tents line, we haven't seen it previously. We would be happy to take it, the weight seems to be quite a lot heavier from the Quick-hiker Ultralight though that weighs 2kg and this one is 3kg for two people unfortunately:(

      Walking Nature World gracias, por sus respuestas, un canal muy serio. La única “pequeña” desventaja que le veo es lo baja en altura para poder ubicarse adentro sentado, esto se contrapone a sus buenas características para soportar vientos y lluvias y sobre todo lo compacta para cargar.
