@@rohangaming642 in talking about new ones. Scania is owned by the truck subsidiary of VW, which just bought out Navistar in the US. So technically now they would have a dealer network if they paired International and Scania like Volvo did with Mack

They would not get better fuel mileage in most north American applications.

      @@felixwankel3989 why's that?

    • @felixwankel3989

@@MrJokkoma the average North American truck drives 105km/h, not Europe's pathetic 80/90. As a result, Cabovers, running on north american diesel, would see their fuel consumption double. A conventional with tall gearing can get 30 L/100km on the highway, vs a cabover that would at best be doing 40; at 100km/h.
We pull heavier loads (especially in Michigan, New York, Illinois, Canada), your small displacement engines won't handle it as well as our 15l engines (Scania and Vulvo being exceptions); automated transmissions are utterly unsuitable for heavy loads. At the same time, most trucks in North America are Vulvo or Freighliner jellybeans with asthmatic 13l engines, 12 speed trannies, and pull dryvan. Thank fuck I aint in one of them.
Trucks in North America see more idle time as most truckers sleep on the road, consequence of being long haul truckers. Trucking companies won't shell out for that APU.

Scania : the Peterbilt of Europe. Scania V8 engines very powerful. Only another awesome engine comes to mind : Caterpillar, Cat Diesel Power.

Henry Wilson here of clitheroe, Lancashire, England. I love trucks and Scanias are the best in the world. There are other types that are pretty good though. When I was a kid forran trucks were unhered of until the mid to late 70s when you got the Vabis and the one seares. The 141 and the 140 super were my favourites.

You missed on of the more interesting points. In the mid 60's Mack and Scania made a business agreement where Scania gave Mack their Direct Injection technology in exchange for Mack's bus chassis and that Mack would use their factories to build the V8 engine blocks. That agreement held until 2003 when the E9 was discontinued due to Volvo buying Mack. It's no coincidence that the E9 and Scania current Scania V8 have the same displacement. Scania just modernized the old E9 block.

always enjoy to see Scania, really love Scania. But wish there was more information easily available on the history with Scania and Mack 12 spd transmission, and the intellectual property agreements with engine block manufacturing, the Mack thermodyne cylinder head trade and lately the collaboration with Cummins to develop even more high pressure fuel injection. Pierre Häll Scania 4 axle in Gunmetal grey...uhh what a beautiful truck.

I always thought an in-line 6 was better then that of a V8 diesel for towing , an example in the pickup truck world rams have always been the dominant when it came down to towing because of the Cummins inline 6 diesel they’ve always had but When the new updated 6.7 power stroke came out with 475 HP and 1050 FPOT paired with the 10 speed trans those new superduty’s are damn near medium sized scania’s in a way

    • @seanryan4940

Not these, they're high torque at low revs, they pull like hell, for example, a V8 620hp Scania will outpull a Volvo inline 700hp and the 730hp V8 will outpull a 750hp Volvo , same right down the range
