Good stuff. It's also worth pointing out that it can be difficult to explain things to someone who doesn't have the same values and morals. In such situations, that other person can gaslight via blaming our "emotions" on the confusion rather than simply saying, "I don't have those same values and morals."

You have to feel out every situation using as much logic as you can bring. Comes with experience. Like the classes where you train the officers not to be so triggered. Takes wisdom and experience to train that kind of logic beyond feeling. Thank you for the work you do, Jaco ✌️🤟🖖

Imo, the feeling guides our thoughts and actions.
People like to feel like they are in control. And their "thoughts" help justify how they feel.
This leads to an assumption that a thought or principle can be a truth or north star that can always guide ourselves and others in our lives.
But, maybe, the thoughts are just tools.
And we should be aware of how our subconscious is pushing and pulling our thoughts.
How many veterans commit suicide because they can't deal with their feelings?
We all know the reasoning. But, for some reason, we can't just accept it like a robot.
    Love for your family.
    Duty to your country.
    Pride in your values.
    Honor, compassion, and, even, wisdom...
Are things... We can accept and implement because we know it feels right.
What is confusion? Is it really that we don't know what to THINK? Or we don't know what to FEEL? A thought experiment to chew on.
Sometimes, we have to override our feelings to take actions or make plans. We go into a combat situation even though we are afraid.
Or, maybe, to not jump to conclusions of a partner cheating. And, even if the partner is cheating, we can choose to ignore some feelings to try to get to a better resolution.
How many listeners feel loyalty, inspiration, and a sense of communal belonging?
And doesn't that help them, ultimately, go on to think?
We... Are animals. Blessed with consciousness and cognition.
But... I think we make the assumption that we are in control more than we are.
And... It doesn't help that we can try to present truths of our own incomplete thoughts.
Because we want to feel right. To feel secure.
    It's a tricky game.
I apologize for the rant. I always like to think of this as the lying game. Because we are all lying to ourselves.
    It's a tricky game.
What is truth when it could cost us power?
What are thoughts when, usually, it will be more for convenience?
Sorry for the rant. I don't think that I did well.

I wish you guys would have touched on how feelings are appropriate for some situations. Yes, it’s great to discern when they are appropriate and when they are in control of you. Feelings are powerful and they can lead to powerful action, they can also lead to stupidity. The point I’m trying to make is that it’s more important to know those feelings are there and to channel them into exactly where they are meant to go. If you are disappointed in your team or an individual, yes, separate those feelings and give yourself clarity by channeling it elsewhere. Then you can explain the issue and the solution with clarity. Feelings can be used for your own self development and it’s good for the long run.

I know I shouldn't reach out to this particular girl, but my brain is giving me every possible emotional reason to do it. Even though logically, although I get those endorphins IF I do end up talking to her, she acts interested and everything is great, but it almost always ends with her just simply distancing herself from me and I'm left in more pain than when I started. So my emotions are definitely at play, because I crave the attention of an attractive female and also because I'm lonely and I am aware of that, but I find that REALLY hard to resist when it happens that I feel like there's something wrong with me.

Steering yourself through life using "thinking" sets you on a path where you can take responsibility for your actions and learn from them, positive or negative. Steering yourself though life using "feelings" leaves you reliant and at the mercy of the actions of others, and you don't learn to take responsibility for yourself. One makes you a burden on others. One does not.

@@Lucysmom26 It's ok if they don't agree. I've never minded being "part of the out group". On this subject though, I think most people still have this idea that they are in essence a little man sitting inside the head controlling the body. Mainly because it's an easier image than the reality and gives you the illusion of control.
Where I personally disagree with Jocko is that I don't believe in any separation between thoughts and feelings. As far as I can tell they are the same thing unless we are specifically calling "thoughts" the translation of input into symbols.

Look it isn't our emotions - it's how we deal with our emotions. Jesus Himself said Ephesians 4:6 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath... feel that anger but sin not. Look at your anger and look at it with Him. So notice your feelings - feel all your emotions.... God made you with all these emotions so through them you are drawn to Him. And with Him He can guide you through the fire. We are made in His image - emotions connect us to Him. And He loves you so I encourage you to take a moment and bring it to Him - all the notes journals - bring it all to Him and listen for that small still voice of His - grace and strength and wisdom ❤ and for sure get good godly authentic people in your fellowship

the rules of feelings, or emo - perspective
    1. they tend to come, or go, or be as useful a a beer gone soft, however they're not consistent, or what appeals to men
    2. they're usually relative, or not the law, truth, or prayer
    3. perhaps for therapy, works of culture, or art they're useful, or could serve the nation, and they also have their place, it's just that it tends to be counter productive, or less for therapy, or crying circles, perhaps for making art emotions are iffy, or also to learn from, think perhaps for therapy, art, or PTSD it's important to know emotions, or where one could take of uses
    4. that people are more than their emotions, or it's important to train the body, mind, service, or also freedom, truth, or wisdom has almost nothing to do with feelings, or when one practices all those things one realizes the importance, or ' relative ' value of emotions, or the inner world of chaos, wants, pettiness, or occasionally to suicide, or what the ' feeling ' stuff wants, or usually devolves, or cares to

I've seen it you have to combine control

Let's go way back and borrow some philosophy from Aristotle. The Greek philosopher, who made significant contributions to many areas of human knowledge, laid out four levels of happiness: Laetus, felix, beatitudo and sublime beatitudo.
Rational activity conducted in accordance with virtue.
Examinations of conscience, trying to root out our faults, focus goals toward virtue.
This will be the closest to "happiness" without Faith, Hope and Agape Love in the spiritual life where the essence is sacrificing your will to God's will in every aspect of your life.

Yes they do I started a journey into the mind which led to the spiritual.. an I've found an easy method.. adopt a Machiavellian mindset... Don't go into the Mephistophelian it's too destructive just as good at removing fear and external control.. but Machiavelli works best... If the other person is not willing die over a sandwich.. an you become the being that decides you don't care about the sandwich you want his soul.. his still beating heart regardless of the outcome few people can stand a commitment that is beyond the material. Tyson did the shift from machi to mephisto an it caused him trouble but you did not see fear or pleading or weakness at any point.. if your opponent enters the ring for a belt.. think that's fine..that's sprinkles and I don't have a sweet tooth... I came here to see the life leaves your eyes.. I'll send the belt to your widow as a token of your sacrifice to the blood god. I've used since I was a homeless child.. even grown men rarely prefer to die over nothing against an opponent they could over power.. but may lose and eye.. an if they failed.. id cut their face off while they were still alive and show them how I could wear it better.. fear is an illusion and if the man your facing has a weakness anything in this world he cares for more than a singular goal you can destroy him break him beyond repair.. money.. family... Reputation.. all of it is a weakness to exploit. Adopt that mindset an it's hard to be beaten and if you do lose then applaud them for a game well played. If you have to ability to stop feeling.. it's a powerful strength if uses with cunning

my feelings govern how i act all the time because my values are crossed i feel or not met or visa versa . makes me feel a certain way . no thinking involved . my values are my values
the thinking part comes next . i dont doubt my feelings cause thats my values . but i’ll definitely think and strategise my way around my emotions so my values are upheld so i feel good again . my values come 1st usually then the tribe unless its not important or trivial then ill go along with the tribe . and i feel good doing that . i do actually value making others feel comfortable so im not a selfish person . i just know what i want , like and dislike . And it might not be logical . but what artist is logical all the time

I made a mistake not raising and perhaps not treating and listening to a key employee to my business. Now she was pouched by another company. My initial reaction was as disdain for that employee. Now I’m thinking it’s always my fault. Since I’m the boss. Even when it’s not. Not the employees. It’s a hard pill to swallow. Relationships with a woman. Same thing.

Appears backwards if the feeling in imagination is secret then the thoughts from a limited mindset betray the feeling through doubtful self talk.
Are 80% of our thoughts are subconscious and collective of the day before and the day before then on a conscious level roughly 20% of thoughts are new.
Logic- say that is a limited self mindset?
If we base life from what we know then we act from that knowing and if it’s 80% rerun of thoughts…..

Facts are given that are not close to the truth and we continue to lose half our country. Good topic on when you leader puts themselves above the one thing they are hired to protect. In this case - Democracy.
