planted seed potatoes on 17th march, now harvesting massive main crop potatoes, been a great year for potatoes and weeds, not so good for the pumpkins this year

Leaf miners leave them looking worse than that Dave, I think it may just be all the rain. Those pulling out so easy is most likely because the roots have not had to search out for water because the rain has not stopped and made it easy for them roots and made them lazy in their search for water. That could be the most likely problem.

Like you I'm not really interested in football, my grand-kids keep me informed and they tell me England have played rubbish and don't deserve to win.
