I feel you... (and HC GL is the only category I do grind)
PS. at least once I was finished by a Sea Dragon flame balls bombardment clipping through the walls right after I landed inside PCF and I thought I was good already.

I had an equivalent of that. A was killed by the sea dragon leviathan right before entering the lava castle. One pixel further and I was ok.
