Thanks Eugene, there are lots of disassembly videos but yours was the most helpful to me as it wasnt scripted and I could see everything you came across, what you found, how much effort to take certain parts, challenges you encountered....
It was great and I was well prepared for my own tear down!
We don't have hard water but I was very surprised at the amount of crap that came out of the various valves and even more horrified of the boiler. I didn't disassemble it, just soaked it with decalcify solution, used a brush and swirled it around trying to scratch the sides... Repeat a few times.
Anyhow thanks for posting this! Much appreciated

10/10 for perseverance. Admire people who can keep their machines going for decades rather than give up and junk the coffee maker when it reaches this state like I would. A lesson to us all

Thanks for the video. My wife and I corrected our clogged Gaggia classic by following the steps you showed. I am happy that I don’t need a new machine. 😀👍🏼🍺

I'm an idiot it was just a pinched hose, but had to open it up to see this.
Mine is the older version of this (2001-2002) black plastic outer case.
    The pump is much different/bigger.
There is no solenoid, water routing is through a manual valve.
That valve is getting a little bit leaky after 25 years of use.
Pressure is back fully and working great.
I keep it clean, it has a new group gasket from two years ago.
It cost $200US brand new in 2001 on sale and has been in continuous use since then LOL.

One should invest in a water filter and jug like a Brita .it would help against your hard water calcification .

you can buy simple add on softener filters that go onto your water inlet hose .. cheap and would save all that maintenance , they also make bag type ones that sit in your water tank just change them every couple months instead of tearing apart your machine every couple months!

Thanks for suggestion but here in UK things aren't so easy .the Brita really is the simplest solution and it works fine as long as you change filter monthly.you can get mains feed water treatment of its a retrofit then a plumber is needed .modern homes ofcourse are now fitted with them if one lives in a hard water area .unfortunately my home was built in 1522 .

if you take that bottom plate off
and just pop a screw driver in to one of the screw holes then tease it off
behind that plate it will have lime scale on it which you can scrub off

Very nice video nice to see it all opened up before I take mine apart.
Any idea why three water paths into the head?
Is there a water/circuit diagram out there for how this works?
I have the older version of this (black plastic case). but it has a nice brass boiler!
It has been in service since 2002.
My water pressure is getting less & less. ( gradually failing) guessing sure it's the pump.

It would be cool if you could hook up the pump and run water through the items to test them (check water flow) while it is still all apart.
ALso I'm wondering what the TWO devices are that are mounted on the head that you are taking apart.
I wonder what they do what they are for. (one has solenoid) and the other does not single hole.
What is the big thing without the solenoid, what does it do?
Also my model may be different.
I will have it apart soon.
Maybe break the bolts loose with vice grips first. and same the allen parts.
If the bolts have threadlock on them (anti vibration) sometimes heat it up a little and the loosen much easier while it is hot.
Just put 120VAC on the lesser heating element for a short time and the block will get hot or use a heat gun to heat it up around the bolts.

I think you can also fill the tank with descaler, start the machine, twist open the steamer and flip the right switch on and then flip the steamer button on and off many times

Thank you for this video! Since I fixed the machine it leaks water from the top of the boiler where the steam wand is positioned. Any ideas how to fix this? I’ve tried to tighten the screws as much as possible.

Nice shower now!! HAHA (confirmation mine is really bad)
I have actually been using the steam pressure back through the group to "help" brew espresso. Time to take it apart and fix.
Toward the end You didn't show if you got the metal puck to come out :) or how you got it out.
    Probably needed some force/prying/hitting LOL.

Nice. I bought a gaggia classic pro second hand yesterday, and the steam wand doesn't work. I can turn the knob all the way in or out, nothing comes out the wand. The coffee part works fine.
The seller is being a POS, claiming he sold something fully functional. How should I troubleshoot this in your view?
