Having an old beater chainsaw along for frozen recoveries is handy. Cuts around the wheels and any frozen suspension parts eases the process. Great stuff so far.

I have a 1980 k30 wrecker -recovery truck with twin line winchs and extendable boom and rotator with out riggers all working order. 350 4wd straight drive runs great. For sale in south Carolina. Pretty much rust free. Perfect for what your doing.
This is why we finished up with the large ground anchor plough. My 2 ton 4x4, in a bog, sat on the axels :o) Because trees are rarely join the right place :P
He addressed that in a video a long time ago. He like those tires because they give good traction with out digging up the trail during recoveries. If he ran a more aggressive tire like Boggers they could dig huge trenches making recovery potentially more difficult.
@@Captain_Yodelstein thats understandable. He's the recovery expert and im sure he knows what works best. I know he usually takes the bypasses and pulls vehicles from the mud not drive through them. I would think a few situations having better traction would be nice. Like here blazing throuh a swamp.

The he talked about it in a video. Guess enough people asked about it...lol. The wrecker is a well thought out machine and it always gets the job done. Eric has a huge amount of knowledge also. It's why I like to watch his videos. Always picking up little tricks and tips to get myself out of situations on the trails.
when winter droning throw the battery on your defrost heater and get it nice and hot before the flight. when the battery hits about 40f it starts halving the capacity
This is gonna be great series for this 3year .rescue where nobody else can get it unstuck ..so good luck and godbless andi know ya all can do it just hook up a strong cable and a bunch of snatch blocks...but I'm sure ya all know that lol

Does it still even run or have the mice gotten to all the wireing the truck is only worth about 1500 at best at this point cut the thing apart and get it out that way
Oh goody .. drifted in far bank ... and no telling how much of an ice ledge is over there waiting to take out something critical in the front of the wrecker.... I would be trying it backwards to smash my way onto shore .. then turn around if needed for final running attempt.
Am I the only one that sees no reason that truck was stuck for 3 years? Looking at the picture at 12:17 it looks like they are in the woods with plenty of trees to anchor to. Guess I'll have to wait for part 3 to see.
@@clivehorridge, had to Google tirfur...those are pretty cool. Would come in handy for sure. I used to use a Hi-Lift jack with winch kit before I finally got an electric winch. Hi-Lift winching can be tough but it does work. Waiting on part 3 though. May be more to it than what that little picture shows.
We just found your channel and its funny we watched the jy video and the next one was this one and we have an s10 too what a coincidence haha excited to see the big pull :) we love pulling people out with our winch there's always someone to save feels good helping out

Id like to see the wrecker on some 38.5x11x16.5 boggers. I know the humvee tires are cheap, but traction would be awesome.

That truck needs a valve body upgrade in the worst way.
If course it may need a rebuild too after that run....
In the oil field we changed out the hydraulic fluid for automatic transmission fluid, better fluid for heat and cold.
Ps check your hydraulic filters, they can collapse in the cold.
