Somehow managed to stumble into two permanent upgrades in the Blue Prince demo before finishing Day 4, and it felt like I was teasing at the edges of other secrets even as I did. Immediately one of my most anticipated games.
I absolutely LOVED the demo of Blue Prince, its unique take on the genre really stuck with me and I am so looking forward to dumping hours into the release! 💜
I've played through The Tartarus Key earlier this year. I wish the puzzles could've been a tad harder, but they felt good to solve anyway. The atmosphere is really the best part, the sum of the graphics with the soundtrack and the writing, it's hauntingly cozy... Or cozily haunted? 6:09 It starts linear, then splits into two paths that must be completed before another two paths open, and then it funnels into a linear ending segment. Not counting slight variations, there's technically 3 endings. Two of them depends on your performance during both splits, while the last one requires you to hunt a bit of a secret passage in the final segment.
Oh goodness yes. Lorelei was one of my fave games of the year, and the Blue Prince *demo* is already up there for me too. I've only played the demo's four-day run twice, and on the second day of run two I managed to find a permanent unlock *and* got so far that the demo had to politely tell me to stop, so I am restraining myself from playing further for now. And you have also reminded me to get to The Tartarus Key in my steam library at some point too! This video is dense with high quality puzzle games lol.
@@nocapsbb Apparently the devs think you can reach room 46 in a single in-game day if you do it *perfectly*, so it makes sense that even the more limited demo has a cutoff point lol
Oh man, I remember playing Betrayal at House on the Hill a lot in university, Blue Prince seems like a fantastic single player twist on that mechanic. Am going to check it out right away
The Blue Prince reminds me of the board game Betrayal at the House on the Hill. You get to slowly build the layout of the house (board) through each turn. You find weird and creepy items, events, and omens. After each omen, you do a haunt roll to see if the second phase (betrayal) of the game is to start. It's not super puzzle heavy, but it does allow you to lay traps and try to figure out what the other teams' plan is. One team doesn't know what powers the betrayer gets, and the betrayer doesn't know what the other people have to do to stop them. It's a fun game. I have yet to run into someone that doesn't like it after playing
While the step counter is a tension, it is not nearly as stressful as it sounds. It's not counting the literal steps you take, it only goes down each time you enter a new room. Which means you can explore up to 50 rooms per day. (Plus you can gain more steps in bedrooms.) So you can walk around as much as you want in a room and take as much time as you want without the steps diminishing.
@@Foozo Yeee, there is actually a lot of ways to get steps back too. In my demo playthoughs, half the time I would run out of rooms before I ran out of steps lol.
I really like the idea of Blue Prince but after playing the demo a while back I felt like there just wasn't enough to do. Too many empty rooms to wander through. I hope it's fleshed out a little more on release.
That's just what the game wants you to think! As sus as it may sound it's actually one of the biggest demos content-wise that I've ever played. But the game is 100% guilty of hiding behind many seemingly empty rooms.
My one complaint with Lorelei is that after the first few segments, the game just throws too many puzzles within a short period at you. Segmenting up the place a bit more would have been nice. But otherwise, pretty solid game.

a nocaps video about a game I'm currently obsessed with (Lorelei and the Laser Eyes) must be my lucky day
Lorelei and the Laser Eyes was a blast, gonna go try Blue Prince

Loved Lorelei! Glad to add some new games to my playlist
Lorelei is a very unique game and it hurt my brain lol
blue prince looks like fun, aside from the step counter

@@RoundinAir ahh thats good to know! so it shouldnt be stressful trying to search rooms while your steps dwindle. Thanks for the info!

The Tartarus Key demo is pretty cool
In terms of games that seem to be in this vein...haven't had a chance to play it yet, but I've heard great things about The Norwood Suite.
0:05 To be frank, that sounds even more scary to me!
(I never passed my math examns, even though they were my main courses 😅)
yeahhh i may have had to look up a few puzzle answers...

It's not really a puzzle game per se, but I think you might like _Elsinore._
doesn't have much to do with this video in particular but I wanna recommend 1000xRESIST to everyone. A hidden masterpiece that deserves more attention
