phantom became my favorite MV and title track at that time and then they came out with OMY and it immediately tied with this one because both were shot so beautifully even tho the styles are different~ WayV continue to grow and improve and im so proud of them. ALSO fun fact, for phantom comeback they gained alot of new 2nd gen fans because many said it also reminded them of older groups such as shinee etc lol
This mv and song blew my mind too!! Also it's my absolute favorite performance from their concert NCT Nation they just did in Japan!! Like they even did The Bat and Kick It and Broken Melodies BUT.....FOR SOME REASON THIS.....PHANTOM live on THAT huge scale and them singing live and Tens dancing and sexiness and ALL OF THEM omg that performance was EPIC!!! I still listen to this regularly and their whole album!
These are the type of reactions I love from you the most! It's totally okay to just have those fangirling fanboying moments to just feel everything without going deep into it. I love how you mentioned that it reminded you of Shinee and DBSK because even Wzns and non wzns said that WayV really gives off 2nd gen vibes and as a 2nd gen fan I am with them in this.

I'm so happy you reacted to this PD!! I was thinking that the boat scene with all the candles (and the whole chandelier thing) was a reference to phantom of the opera, its a really cool set in my opinion.
I love WayV, from their debut I knew they were special. Ten as an all around top tier performer and Xiaojun as a top tier powerhouse vocalist both blow me away. All of the members blow me away too! Thank you for this reaction!

I do hope you will check out their On My Youth album as well. It's a departure from their previous styles, but imo despite what it may look like at first, WayV manages to carry through that sense of drama and grandeur that we so love in their music. They again remind me of Shinee and TVXQ in that sense... some of their favourite tracks were songs you wouldn't think were "Shinee" or "TVXQ" on paper, until they perform it and then I can't imagine it belonging to anyone else.
Istg, WayV is giving princely vibes, they are so regal, so elegant, everything. Whatever music video they have, they scream ✨expensive✨

Being a fan of Ten's artistry (like a BIG fan), I'm glad that you are very honest about your respect for him. In this industry, people really really need to be able to learn to recognized which idols are just good because they were trained well, and which are great because they have more depth and layers and they bring more nuanced performance and interpretation of the characters they play in their songs, dance and video. Like let's talk about real artistry and performance.
Ten really is a god-tier idol and people need to recognize and acknowledge it even if he is mostly singing in Mandarin. I mean honestly we all know that just because China, unlike Korea, has so little soft power, that a great deal of people immediately won't bother checking some artists out just cuz a group isn't a "real kpop" group. That, and of course SM has to do a better job.
The 2nd part being main reason many don't wish to listen to wayv and its sad.
Plus SM mistreatment over the top for them.
Wishing his solo album get more people to check ace ten and SM gives more promotion to wayv.
@@minaawa whether it's intentional or not, SM's management of Ten's career certainly is horrible. I understand there are a lot of members in NCT and the opportunity is hard to distribute but that's the thing people don't understand - that screen time, lines group stuff should be fair and reasonable in group stuff but solo activities of those who can do solo stuff should not be treated the same way. Solo stuff should be given to those who are ready. Period. It's not like a pie you divide equally between children. It's something that's given to the fittest members. And Ten even during his first solo performances in SuperM concerts honestly have the most solo artist energy and stage presence among all the NCT members. He really commanded those stages given to him and people were in awe.
So solo stans who are complaining how Ten has more solo lab or station songs should understand how unreasonable it is to complain about it cuz Ten is not taking away an opportunity that belongs to another member. It is an opportunity he created for himself for being very good at his job.
And let's be honest although a lot of the members are talented, being solo on stage is another story. All weaknesses you have as a performer will be easily pointed out. And SM actually tested the waters with other members' lab songs and the results were not as impressive compared to members like Ten, Mark and Taeyong. And it's not because they are the most popular (I mean, Haechan, Jeno and Jaemin have been really popular lately) but it's because they're strong, well-rounded, and feels complete even if they are alone onstage. They are less dependent on having a group and that is something you can't automatically get even if you are the most popular member.
@@arien_000 i think haechan does need a chance apart from t7, maybe solo station if he is ready or cover.
About ten , sm has been worse. Whenever he did make noise, they try to hide him under the blanket simple reason he is the foreigner out of all popular or aces, and they know he makes impact well.

Its 5 years and all i wish wayv gets more exposure or just release eng album for more tune in, till when will they fight their stand balancing cpop from kpop company, its not working as labelv can't mange them well.

S010 i am really scared how SM will handle it, truely wish they pay for what they have done all these years hiding the ace, give him worth promotion, interviews ,solo work and stage, showcase hopefully tour too. he deserves it being 8th year as idol. His fan are always ready to work with tears for him, and we know he will do great. Its just promotions and effort in marketing for him like his other fellow rookie member got all these years from stage, cincert, opportunities .
Superm solo stages litrally brought many into 10vely fandom, thats his power and charisma and hold on audience.
He should have debuted as solo artist, anyway wish his popularity rises, he is gem of artist needs a breaks though, hidded in mask of SM
@@minaawa Haechan does have lab/station/cover songs. NYCT, Good Person, Age of Light. Many members had their try doing lab/ station/cover. Even Lucas before with Coffee Break. I think for these things, it needs some initiative (or some degree of it) from the members themselves to try and put out a song out there. Like how Kun made Rain Day happen. And Ten did Paint Me Naked and Birthday the same way - he worked for them. He literally approached many people he even joked about how some of them avoided him. It wasn't just SM giving it to him on a silver platter. I don't think it's as easy as telling SM , "Hey, I want to do solo/lab stuff." Although I do think SM tries to hype some members more just like how they did with Lucas' Coffee Break mv. I don't think it was more of Lucas' initiative cuz some members were actually more ready for a Lab song that time, but it was given to him cuz they are investing in him cuz he has that look that appeals to international stans.
Other members could do the same. But I guess people don't have the same level of initiative, commitment, willingness and confidence to take a risk. And doing unit stuff has much less stress cuz it's initiated by the label.
And this is exactly why WayV will remain my fav subunit!!! They have never missed a single time since their debut and are always innovative. Like NCT as a whole is really creative but WayV always takes it to the next level. Like I will remember being mindblown by Moonwalk (which still remains one of my top 3 songs of all time) and thinking that they can't outdo this. But they've never let me down. I thought On My Youth was the first time I'd feel disappointed but I ended up crying. Man nobody does it like them.

Ten is the best idol everrrr, he's truly underrated that'd angered me so muchh
And what's worse is that some people deny how a godly dancer he is and say how he's beneath Jimin, Jhope, Taemin, Kai, Shotaro, etc.. like man, you can deny a lot of things like his looks, his charisma etc., but his artistry and dance is undeniable. I usually don't care about stanning the most popular idol but the recognition he gets from the industry is way below his worth. Like even during SuperM concerts where he is with the most "elite" idols of SM, people come out of the concert in awe of his Dream in a dream and New Heroes performances. I feel like this lack of recognition for Ten is one of those things that really needs to be rectified.

I actually became a ten fan way before stanning nct, because of his proformance in hit the stage and then he released dream in a dream and everything about him was mind blowing
I knew you would love this song/mv. It almost dethroned Moonwalk as my favorite WayV song. My favorite part is on bridge, where they line up next Kun perfectly. It's so damn good.

Seriously the configuration of WayV is insanely good. One of the best dancers (if not THE BEST dancer) in kpop, amazing vocalists and rappers, stunning visuals (they look so good in person), best sound (in my opinion), top-tier production......they deserve way more recognition!
They look SOOO good in person ,and they look unique and recognizable because they look so different from each other which I love!

Idk if anyone would understand but WayV always brings out chinese novel taste very well. This one is the grandeur deep emotion kinda thing. Seeing them perform Phantom live in NCT concert in Japan while it was storming is catalystic
Yes, for me WayV is the BEST sound I've ever found in kpop. Listen, Johnny is my bias in the whole NCT, but WayV is the best unit. I've been into Asian music for more than 15 years, but there is no sound like WayV.

I am complete agreement with your opinion on the magnitude that is Phantom as a visual masterpiece. Though I'd just like to throw this out there.... On My Youth brought tears to my eyes and completely blew me away. You know something is special about WayV when your heart just sinks and you are overwhelmed with emotions.
I feel the same way. On My Youth was really the right title track and only WayV could do that concept as well as it was executed in that track and in that video.

As a 2nd gen/SHINee fan, Phantom got me hooked on WayV! The 2nd gen-ness really came out full force and now I'm totally obsessed with them, they've got those old school vibes to the max

Thank you so much for this reaction! This comeback was very emotional for us wayv fans bc they had been in a hiatus for almost 2 years and no one knew what was gonna happen to them. So when this cb was announced we collectively lost it. The title track, concept, and whole mini album were absolutely perfect. Wayv are very mismanaged & mistreated by sm (cough sinophobia & xenophobia) and also very underappreciated by other nct fans but they are soooo talented and soooo good. I really hope you'll react to their latest cb "on my youth" too! You'll love it!!❤ (+ their track videos)

FINALLY SOMEONE'S WITH ME ABOUT VIXX AND THEIR DEEP/UNCONVENTIONAL "DARK" CONCEPTS! WayV fits that role for the new generation SO well and they always seem EXCITED to try new things. I wish SM paid more attention to them, but I guess it really makes them a diamond in the rough!

I love the stunned silence 😇 but yes, this MV reminded me so much of early K-pop music videos, like Sherlock by SHINee, Hyde by Vixx and MAMA by EXO! It has satisfied the old K-pop fan in all of us 💚
Finally! This is my subunit. WayV really are their own genre. As far as my musical taste they never fail.
I love how deep, dark and whispery Phantom is. And isn't the second part of that Phantom chorus gorgeous? Ahh. Visually it is amazing. I did not even realize how crazy the camerawork is, but the results are definitely exciting to watch.

It really did come out at such a weird time - But the hype for this comeback was off the charts for me!! What you said about WayV's mvs always being something "more" is a thought that's been creeping in my brain ever since I discovered them.
My favorite moment in Phantom mv is those last shots where they're putting on their masks... the pacing and timing of the editing to the music gives me chills every time!

Well, WayV will debut in Japan next year, so their contract will be extended for 3 years on top of their original contract. Ten is a great artist both solo or in a group, but he still needs a great production team to back him up. SM does have some of the best producers in the industry, we have to admit that. I don't think Ten will have better prospect in other companies like Cube or Hybe or whatever.
@@elegantfashion160 For me, I believe that his talent should not be limited to Korea, China, or Asia. I truly believe in his potential to go global. personally I don't think Ten should be with an agency in Korea But look much further than that. He has been with this company for almost half his life and sadly sm Never pushed foreign artists to the best of their ability.. Therefore, it is best to go out and grow elsewhere.

It's the end of July 2024, and this song is still my favorite. They are amazing and Ten was as always beyond excellent. Where Ten goes I follow but this group of guys can't be beat for me. AHHHHHHHHHHH!! PD loves the Phantom MV! Based off this reaction, PD should try checking out the Phantom remix stage WayV had during SMTown/NCT concert. Kun did the remix and the staging is fabulous. The combination of the staging and remix really emphasizes all of WayV's talents.
