    I was a teen when this came out. I can't EVER remember having a conversation about whether the video was appropriate or not. Never even entered into our consciousness or realm of thought, not even remotely. It was just FUN. And yeah, there was a teacher at our high school who we all thought was hot. PS I hate PC.

    • @philpennington826

      The fact that they're self-professed "rappers" makes their reaction even more ridiculous. Rap music has more misogynistic lyrics and more negative images of women than any other genre of music. And they were offended by THIS?

    • @cup_cuppy_cuppers5817
      @cup_cuppy_cuppers5817 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      @@philpennington826 - These "rappers" missed the context of the song..., that being pubescent boys and a semi-decent looking teacher lead to being "Hot for Teacher" and fantasizing about the Teacher.
      These "rappers" are on the woke path.

    • @GoldTopSlinger
      @GoldTopSlinger 2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Their reaction is an honest one, and really should be seen as inevitable. They weren't around back then so they don't have the context to know this wasn't shocking at the time. If it came out now, there'd be a problem with that, but it was all tongue in cheek at the time. Basically it just came down to the fact that David Lee Roth was a goofball.

      I'm probably about your age -- you'll appreciate this. There was a guy in one of my classes in h.s. that hated me, I hated him. We had beef, as they say. And everyone knew it. One day, he walked into class just a LITTLE late. This song and video were peaking everywhere. So with everyone's eyes on this douche who just strolled into the room, I got a huge laugh when I said, "Siddown, WALDO!"

    The 80s were the best time to be a teen. We had a lot of fun! The world has become crazy with all this cancel culture crap! I am from the Gen-X group (if you were born between the mid-1960s and the early-1980s) I loved that we could watch our comedy and music freely without everyone being so offended at every little thing. I also loved the fact that we had no cell phones then. We interacted with each other and when you went to a concert you held up a lighter and not a cell phone. It (to me) was the best of times. I tell my kids(ranging in age from 13 being the youngest to 36 being my oldest) all about it and esp. the great concerts I've seen including seeing this tour of Van Halen.It was awesome to see Eddie doing Eruption live. This was a great philosophical discussion about morals and art... do morals belong as a shield around art? Hell no! I'm 61 and was 23 when this came out. I *loved* it! I saw VH twice in my late teens and they were always SO much fun. Their videos amplified the fun they were and now watching Reactions of this specific video is bringing me the same joy I first felt watching it in 1984. It's been said dozens of times, but times were different then. I am *sure* the women and kids clamored to be in a VH video. They probably had 1000x more applicants than spaces in that classroom. Parents were surely thrilled their kids were on MTV, even if they were 4th graders. It was SUCH a fun time back then. Thank goodness I was there to live it.

COME ONE NOW!!!! with rap music today and the kids listening to rap at the age of the kids in the video and the crap they rap about you got kids singin WAP and junk!!!!!! and HE SUDDENLY WANTS TO TAKE THE MORAL HIGH GROUND!!!!! lol hahaha that alone tells you why kids in the 80's don't easily get offended, sensitive, and definitely know how to have fun!!!!! lmao don't get me wrong I love these guys and I've subscribed to them, but I think they missed the point of the video! lmao!!!!!

    First, great reaction! But I think the key component you are missing is Van Halen got big around same time as MTV coming out. And all of a sudden music became very much about the video. The better, the funnier, the racier or the more artistic the video, the more play time they got on MTV. Van Halen videos developed as this happened..went from stage performances to highly stylized with a bit of comedy in them (when David Lee Roth was singing)... He was a showman and kind of created this video persona of himself. And as for the stripper in school....it was the 80s... different mindset...girls would watch this video and want to grow up to look like the women in the video. Just a different time. Okay, I am out-- old x--gener

Müller has the most interesting background of the three having been runner-up Miss Norway and Playboy magazine's 1976 Playmate of the Year. She went on to some success in movies and TV using the alias Yuliis Ruval.

    Van Halen definitely went thru a glam rock phase in the 80’s. But honestly Eddie is widely considered one of the greatest guitarists of all time!
    Also, Eddie’s brother Alex Van Halen is the drummer and also incredibly good, often overlooked.

I mean Eddie only reinvented every aspect of being a guitar player, changed the way guitars are built and sold, every metal band uses his amps, guitar players only had to create an entire language just to convey what they ThOUGHT he was doing, only has what 12 hit albums. Jeez what else does he need to do for people to stop saying stupid crap like .. he’s like at slash level. Lmao

    Van Halen was the ultimate garage/party band. They played all of So. California when they were coming up, and they created specific songs for each different neighborhood they played. The Latin fans got pluckier songs like Beautiful Girls, the beach college kids got breezier songs like Top Jimmy, and the working man/bar patron fan got rhythm and blues songs like And the Cradle Will Rock. Hot for Teacher was released in 1984, and was probably the apex of their party days before Dave was kicked out, Sammy came in, and the band become more socially conscious than party fueled =)
    Fun fact about the video - there were multiple agents and children's rights members on set to make sure the kids weren't being exploited. But no one was there for the women portraying the teachers who had to dance in front of them, lol

    im 51 and was a teen in the 80's, Van Halen was a party band! the 80's was all about fun and having a good time. we all got along for the most part ( we knew and recognized racism but we didn't use the word to play victim, or abuse the word where it doesn't have that much meaning like today) BUT!!!!! we all insulted and offended each other in a humorous way where we all laughed and just had a good time we all got sun; played outside and not be locked up having our iPads and social media raise our kids!!! . this generation will never know what fun is because they have such a huge stick up their butts and overly sensitive! and if you guys are rappers you should be ok with this video considering what rappers put out these days lmao!!!! and plus this video is about being a pre teen and hormones and testosterone and changes and what you see here is what every pre teen and teen boy thought about lmao!!!!

    Eddie and his brother Alex were a Power team. That guitar and drums! There was a track they had their dad play clarinet called Big Bad Bill. It was a old 30's style. They have a few tracks that were old timey throwbacks. And when the singer David Lee Roth went solo, he covered old timey songs including Just A Gigolo. I dig it.

    Eddie actually did a lot of custom work on his main guitars, he called it the Frankenstrat because it was so many different pieces put together. But also, if you give say Eddie's entire set up to Dimebag, Dimebag's gonna play like Dimebag and it's not gonna sound like Eddie, and vice versa, it might sound close or similar but you just can't fully replicate someone elses sound, you don't have the same hands, the same grip.
