    if the car cranks but doesnt start its most likely the crank sensor, my car used to start but after driving it a while and then stopping and going off doing whatever it wouldnt start when i came back, what i had to do was wait almost 2 hours for the car to cool down and then it would start again, i seen a video here on youtube and a guy would take out his crank sensor and put it in ice cubes to cool it down quickly and then put it back into the car and it would start again. If you can do some diy yourself a crank sensor can be bought for around 35 euro and it usually only has one bold holding it in . its easy to replace

      If you watch the video the fault was found and sorted buddy but cheers. I've been in the motor trade since 1999 pretty much so I don't class anything I do as d.i.y. I'm very much a repairer

      @@andysautomotiveadventures9587 i know it was found i just wanted to say what happened mine, Im surprised after your 20 years of experience you were not able to connect back a sensor properly after you took it apart in the first place, also diy means do it yourself, and if you repair yours or other cars then you diy repair. But good luck keep trying, god loves a tryer

    Anyone have an answer to why my 2004 X-type 3.0 just turns over and won’t start. It happened after radiator hose broke and vehicle overheated

      Steve you could do with having your fault codes read. The petrol models don't have many faults that stop them from running

    I have an 04 x type and my starts then dies out, I'm gonna try the fuel filter, cuz fuel pump replacement is very expensive. But where was the air flow sensor you were talking about located at? The one that fixed your problem. I'd love to give that a try before I haul a fuel pump. Thanks man

    • @andysautomotiveadventures9587
      @andysautomotiveadventures9587  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it's a diesel it'll almost definitely be pump related. Have you had your codes read?
      Also is it 2.0 or 2.2 ?

    • @FaygoRain313
      @FaygoRain313 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@andysautomotiveadventures9587 no I haven't had codes red, it's not a diesel It's a 3.0 liter. I just feel if it starts at all then that would mean the fuel pump has to be working, but like you said it could be a weak fuel pump meaning it still runs just not powerful enough to consistently get gas to the engine

      What area are you in? Another key issue with these engines is the knock sent that gives similar issues

    Fellas cars not starting in the rain or damp weather & his mechanic says its the crank sensor or something. Obvs.i have no idea about cars but were wondering weather to write it iff cos a breakdown guy jacked it up in the wrong place & we stand a good chance on getting payment on it or we can get the sensor replaced wuth the damage done by the breakdown guy sorted for £90 as its starting in the sunny weather we can drive it there. The mechanic says damp weathers just a coincidence that it wont start!! Its always fine in warm dry weather even cold its damp n condensation sewms to make it worse or be the problem in some way to whatever's going on!! Any ideas anyone? Thanks in advance.

      Is it petrol or diesel ? There's a few things that gives issues on both. If your stuck send me the error codes you have and I'll be able to help more.

      @@andysautomotiveadventures9587 petrol thanks! Fellas just had the crank sensor replaced. His mechanic is certain its that despite the damp said its coincidence but 2b honest its very much intertwined with thw damp!!!! Thanks 4 asking!!!! X

      Yeah petrols are only really hampered by crank or knock sensors when it comes to starting. Sounds like you've a decent mechanic looking after you
