How to pick like Yngwie J. Malmsteen (Guitar Lesson )

Except Yngwie doesn't use strict alternate whilst ascending or descending

Correct. This is just one specific example and doesn’t encompass every possible scenario in which changing picking direction would be necessary.

Malmsteen also uses good legato and economy picking, he's so quick it's difficult to see.
