Great video. How do you like the hammer a3-31? Why do you not use the jointer guard?

    • @BlakePizzey
      @BlakePizzey  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Thank you! I'm loving the machine. I was having issues while jointing at first. I kept getting a bow as the infeed was running slightly uphill to the outfeed. I spent a night getting them coplanar and no issues since.
As for the guard... I really should and will when face jointing. It's just hard to get used to it. BUT when edge jointing I really don't see the point with the euro guards. I slide the fence over to only expose a little on the edge and find it's safer to have it out of the way than sticking out past the unit. In the end the same amount is exposed as what would be exposed with the locked euro guard. Maybe I'm missing something when it comes to the euro guards and edge jointing...?

@@BlakePizzey not really sure, as I am in Canada, and bought the A3-41, for space saving. But from everything I had read and watched seems the people in Europe etc, always use the guard jointing or planing. I know Bent’s woodworking has one as well and has done a couple videos on it. Worth the time to watch his reviews.

Actully you do not need to be a big account to buy from a hardwood distributor in your area.
Most of them are happy to sell you 200 bf or even 50 bf of material at a time.
I've got a retail use and sales tax id.
I deal with 2 places I can buy rough cut wood from. You can turn your hobby into a profitable side job or even a full time business.
You just have to find out what items people in your area are in the market for.
Ikea finiture is OK for a few years but once it put togather its not ment to be moved. Real wood items stand up to the test of time.
You have a nice shop with professional equipment people who do woodworking all the time as a job dont have that nice of equipment. Your day job must pay good.
You are miles ahead of a lot of guys.
Now make that money work for you.
You see the old guy busting his ass to sell stuff using older broken down equipment but he has the skills to use it
    And makes some decent stuff.
And guys like you with 15 to 20k worth of tools who don't use them all the time.
Im kinda guilty of it myself.
Id say knock out a set of kitchen cabnits
But thats not where the money is making fine finiture that will outlast you might be with the right clients.
You can make money, you just need to figure out on what items.
