- BOB DOWNE (the comic creation of Mark Trevorrow) starred in THE BOB DOWNE SHOW, his very own comedy/variety chat show for Australian cable channel TV1 in 2000/01. Here, Bob gets a surprise visit from his 'childhood sweetheart,' CORALEE HOLLOW - who looks suspiciously like GINA RILEY, co-creator and star of the Aussie megahitcom KATH & KIM - and the two duet up a storm with DO YA WANNA DANCE. The song is followed by edited Bob & Coralee sketches from the 'BITS & BLOOPERS' episode. The show was filmed at the Comedy Store in Sydney's Fox Studios Entertainment Quarter

I am not sure how to describe how much Bob Downe has helped me over the past few years. I am an American woman, not sure how I found these clips. I am a singer/actress who suffers from clinical depression. Bob Downe, the character, has so much heart and joy. I was hospitalized briefly.......and when I got out my friends tried everything they could to make me laugh, but nothing worked. Then I saw this clip and laughed OUT LOUD for the first time in six months. Thank you SO much for helping me stay strong, Mark.

I’m not saying I’m even close to what you must have been through, but I can relate to what you said.
I’ve always been a happy person who always loved laughing and loved to make others laugh but my Mum died unexpectedly a few years ago, we were very close and since then I’ve struggled with a number of things.
I’ve been getting by but haven’t felt like ‘myself’ for some time.
I got reminded of Bob in November last year by a friend, I always loved him as a kid so I started watching his videos again and I literally felt something lift off my shoulders.
I’m very intuitive and do tarot readings for people, I’ve done it for years and I can read energy very easily now and I just love his. Even if he doesn’t know it himself, he’s a special soul, a healer.
He has also inspired me to start writing and acting again, myself, as I stopped when my Mum died.
And now, whenever I’ve had a bad day, I come on here and watch at least one of his videos, even when I’m busy or tired, just to keep my spirits up. ❤️

I find myself back here watching this clip as coronavirus rages in my country and times are once again very uncertain. You are spot on with your reading of this performer, he truly inspires joy. A comic genius. I ache with laughter whenever I see him. I was lucky enough to see his show a couple of times at Croydon a few years ago, but I sorely miss him on TV.
That clip was brilliant. Would love to see Bob and Coralee get their own prime time show on TV. Australian television audiences would lap it up.

Gina and I invented Coralee in 1981, 3 YEARS BEFORE i invented Bob. Coralee Hollow is actually the real name of a girl I went to Murrumbeena State School with (she thinks it's funny) but Gina and I were inspired by ANNETTE ALLISON - the presenter of EVERYDAY, Ten Melbourne's morning magazine show - a glam, big-haired, feisty, brunette who hilariously showed her moods and opinions while her mousy co-host (Roy Hampson) fidgeted and said things like "you can't say that...!" ;-) LOL - MARK (BOB)
