Love your videos brother! Always looking forwards to see your new uploads. You have a great personality and these videos from Amsterdam is awesome! Well, tight lines brother from Norway. All the best, Eivind B.
Those are some real chunks! Never caught a walleye.. perhaps I shall give it a try this week. Your channel is very helpful for going back and rewatching for finding tips and tricks :)
I really love job too much . Asherdam area is good place in world, i hope that i could see that place one time !! whenb i was young i had done with my father fisherman. !! it is really nice guy
My tip to catch more zander is to fish closer to the bottom, you’re still fishing a bit higher up in the water colum and you’ll certainly catch some zander but if you fish closer to the bottom you’ll just get those extra fishes
that is wild you probably got alot of funny looks from the locals who probably arent used to see people fishing. that water looked a little narly tho to say the least hope you washed your hands before you ate lol cool vid just subbed
www.vispas.nl/ the VISpas is what you can get make sure you click the British flag in the upper right hand corner so you can read in english unless you speak Dutch.
You can still get it usually I put it in the bottom of most of my surf casting video's because a lot of the tackle is for surf casting. But I put it in the description just use code FISHAHOLIC.
Hye man. Just wanna ask, do i need a fishing license or permit to fishing in amsterdam? If so, where can i get it one & how much does it cost? Hope u can help me. Thanks man
I already left sadly but next time i'm over that way I'll have to hit you up. My family friend lives in Alkmaar and after our visit i'm definitely going to go back.
Great video man! May I suggest the next time you visit Amsterdam you use finesse/light gear, You'll add up the numbers and still catch the decent size fish.. I know because it's all I do and it's basically the only city I ever fish in! Find me on facebook for proof! Haha
Hey Rich...love the reaction and the excitement in your voice when you hooked the giant red fin and the zander. Oh BTW did you make it on time to have your burger? Or did you completely forget about it?
Great vid really enjoyed, ps you should really use a landing net, better for the fish and less chance of losing it .we have to use them for bigger freshwater fish in UK by law.
Not sure if pussies, but the UK guys who mainly fish Carp, tend to expect you to treat all fish as they do large ones. They can be very annoying and had to put a few in their place in the past (as in, in the water with the fish they love).
Zander is not exactly European Walleye, but what is called here Smudj Kamenjar or Volga Zander (Sander Volgensis), by size, small teeth and I think (not sure) they share the trait or scaleless cheeks!
I love that Idea thanks! I was actually thinking of doing something like that. You'll probably see a video soon. I was thinking of getting a cheap reel each month till the end of the season and using it until it breaks or at least see if it lasts the month of non-stop abuse in the surf and in the kayak.
Haha thanks! u know sometimes I feel luck is just on my side some days. Went back here on my last day in netherlands and i just caught a couple small perch:(
I'm sorry but you fished totally wrong! That first spot is like 5/6 meters deep. Since zander usually sits on the bottom you have to let the bait sink to the bottom and then close the bail. If you are here again I'll hook you up with a few more zander 😉
Yet twitching the rod like you would do with a weightless worm doesn't work. They are mostly bottom feeders, at 5 m deep use a 5-7 g jig, one short twitch, let it fall on tense line. The bite always comes while the jig is falling.
Hi! great fishing! the spots you fished aren't that productive though.. If you ever come back to Amsterdam, contact me and I'll give you some insights ;)
that was not an average size zander.... it looked pretty small and probably barely legal. We cant even keep them here in Germany unless they are over 45cm/17.7in. Average here is maybe around 65cm/25.5 in. A Zander over 90cm/35 in is big, not trophy but big.
People do but the majority of the people think of it as abnormal or weird. People were looking at me like I had six heads or they have never seen a guy fish lol
You fish very wrongly, you forgot that they aren’t sea fish. You should retreat your lure very slowly just at the bottom, along the side. Don’t reel so fast and let it sink more. (For zander)
This whole area in Amsterdam is loaded with tons of bicycles on the bottom. I guess you didn't watch the whole video because I showed me breaking off many times. But there were a lot of other break offs as well. Every time I fished slowly along the bottom I got snagged. I learned that quick and altered my technique to still catch fish and not lose as many lures. I've fished fresh and saltwater for nearly 30 years, competed in bass tournaments, worked on a charter boat for ten years, I run my own boat now. Zander are very similar to Walleye that I've fished for nearly 20 years here in the states. I applied all that knowledge for my first time in a new country without any assistance to catch fish. So I think I did well enough during that time. Next time I'll do better. Tight Lines!
@@FishAholicTV yeah but the fish here do act a little different, I’m a Dutch fisher and I know how the best tactics here in Holland. I didn’t mean to offend you. :(
There’s more than a couple “teachable moments” here (what is with that crazy “cast & swap hands” thing you are doing?), but the most important is Fish Handling. NEVER, EVER handle a European Perch by it’s bottom lip. Actually that goes for all European species, the lower jaw of a fish is the same as your lower jaw, it’s used for eating not for suspension. If you don’t believe me, try attaching yourself to a fruit picker by your lower jaw, then have a buddy raise you up off the ground. I’d pay good money to watch that experiment. Fortunately, you didn’t meet any local anglers while you were filming this… they would not have been amused by the fish abuse.
Shocking fish care. You don't hold perch by the mouth like you are doing. And use a net. It's shocking how many so called fishermen go fishing with no net at all.
I didn't know what else was on the menu haha. Before I went to The Netherlands I had an idea of what I was going to catch or what I could I knew what was on the menu.
Please be a little more respectful for the fish dont smash them against the wall and lay em on the street its really bad for em. In the netherlands we also take better care for the fish than in america, also use a steel leader pike is everywhere and will bite straight through your braid/mono/fluoro
Beautiful video! Cheers from Italy!
Supp!!! Seems you found out the good spots in Amsterdam. Really liked watching it. Kind regards from the Netherlands😄
That is a very cool looking fish the Zander.
Love your videos brother! Always looking forwards to see your new uploads. You have a great personality and these videos from Amsterdam is awesome! Well, tight lines brother from Norway. All the best, Eivind B.
Thanks Eivind! Really glad to hear I can make a video you enjoy from all the way over in Norway!
Those are some real chunks! Never caught a walleye.. perhaps I shall give it a try this week. Your channel is very helpful for going back and rewatching for finding tips and tricks :)
I recommend going to the James V Turner Resivour back in new england for bass catfish or carp
Great video man, crazy scene there. Those fish hammered away and way to keep searching til you got on them good. Thanks for sharing.
awesome urban fishing..those perch look pretty cool...enjoy!
Zander get quite a lot bigger then walleye i think they get like 47 inches that was a small zander probs just legal

I would like to try street fishing in amsterdam after covid. Nice street fishing! Awsome strikes!
Subbed 🎣
Awesome vid, I caught a lot of huge Zander in Amsterdam.
I enjoyed the video. I'll give those places a try.
Really nice catches! Thank you
that spot reminds me of fishing the east river in NYC
Started using the keitechs this spring for schoolies. It became my favorite soft plastic quickly. Crush bass on those things.
Awesome brother!
If you are able to get your hands on the riptide swimming mullets by culprit baits in 4inch. Especially in glow. Give them a try. Striper candy.
awesome fish! Lookin forward to seeing the next vids from this trip!
Iv seen videos with 7ib redfin in the lakes around Holland
Very cool I am going to there in May
that is wild
you probably got alot of funny looks from the locals who probably arent used to see people fishing.
that water looked a little narly tho to say the least hope you washed your hands before you ate lol
cool vid just subbed
In the Netherlands, you can see people fishing whereever you go. Especially in Amsterdam which is a known teritory for huge perches and zander.
Great fishing!!
You Could do with a landing net. Respect the fish. Nice catch though.
I miss the good old days
Awesome! Those fish find you!
Great video! I take my fishing pole everywhere I travel as well. Hong Kong has some incredible urban fishing
wow great video do they bother you for a licens or per mite there
They will, but locals say its easy to slip away if anyone asks, you just say your from another country.
Ese pez con aleta en La espalda se puede comer?
nice zander...good luck fisherman.
Why are you throwing them back into the river?
Cool video bud hope you're having a good time
I got back to the state's a little while ago sadly but I still got another video for you
where did you get your permite for fishing ? going there this year and might give this a shot
I want to go fishing somewhere where I can get stripers what place do you suggest that I should go to
Amsterdam....thought you were in Newark NJ for a sec lol! Awesome video 👍🏻
Are you still in the Netherlands? More than happy to give you some sweet spots!
No sorry not anymore I left a little while ago. Really want to go back though!
im visiting Amsterdam in May. Can you please tell me how to get license for fishing ?
www.vispas.nl/ the VISpas is what you can get make sure you click the British flag in the upper right hand corner so you can read in english unless you speak Dutch.
thanks!
when are we getting the 20% off again from ramsey?
You can still get it usually I put it in the bottom of most of my surf casting video's because a lot of the tackle is for surf casting. But I put it in the description just use code FISHAHOLIC.
Invalid code, worked last month
Fishing pike size baits on a 15lb fluro leader is also a big no no.
NICE man that was awesome
Hye man. Just wanna ask, do i need a fishing license or permit to fishing in amsterdam? If so, where can i get it one & how much does it cost? Hope u can help me. Thanks man
for how long are staying in the Netherlands? We are going out with the boat on Saturday/ Sunday. If you want you can join us. Br Martin
I already left sadly but next time i'm over that way I'll have to hit you up. My family friend lives in Alkmaar and after our visit i'm definitely going to go back.

This was a dope vid. Need moreeee lol
Great video man! May I suggest the next time you visit Amsterdam you use finesse/light gear, You'll add up the numbers and still catch the decent size fish.. I know because it's all I do and it's basically the only city I ever fish in! Find me on facebook for proof! Haha
very nice
Great video, it’s inspired me to have a go next time I’m in town, what action rod are you using ?
I always catch fish when a train goes by
great video as usual
Can you do more fly fishing please
going out today haha will do. On a quest this summer to catch a striped bass over 20lbs on the fly.
FishAholic Fishing awesome. Good luck!
good video! Well done!
Try dropshotting live worms and do a multi species challenge
Cool video 👍🏻
fishing license required? if so how much, i hate having to buy permits for each state here in the USA....but can't complain too much ;-)
unionse7en its about 30 euro in the netherlands
Hey Rich...love the reaction and the excitement in your voice when you hooked the giant red fin and the zander. Oh BTW did you make it on time to have your burger? Or did you completely forget about it?
Haha I got the burger it was cold and half eaten by my family but after losing another 3-4 jigs in the bottom I had enough lol.
Great vid really enjoyed, ps you should really use a landing net, better for the fish and less chance of losing it .we have to use them for bigger freshwater fish in UK by law.
Only coz English anglers are pussies.

Good video.
You're gonna break its jaw holding it like that.
Zander is not exactly European Walleye, but what is called here Smudj Kamenjar or Volga Zander (Sander Volgensis), by size, small teeth and I think (not sure) they share the trait or scaleless cheeks!
Y love the Netherlands daer is my home
I have a challenge for you get a cheap surf rod and reel and try to get a strip bass and tell us if it was worth it love videos
I love that Idea thanks! I was actually thinking of doing something like that. You'll probably see a video soon. I was thinking of getting a cheap reel each month till the end of the season and using it until it breaks or at least see if it lasts the month of non-stop abuse in the surf and in the kayak.
if you go to montauk, I always see a white surf rod that costs $50 at Paulies bait and Tackle.
Airborne Fishi

CRC PESCA you need the vispas
Yes its like 18 bucks
Called the vispas

Alek Van Mensvoort sounds good 👌🏻 yeah I was letting it sink to bottom then swimming along the bottom back.

I’m going in August and any help would be very much appreciated 👍
@herkansing i‘m in amsterdam right now, do you have time for some fishing together or tips? Would appreciate it bro
please dont flip those big perch out of the water, have respect for the animal and net it.
Joost Van Der Grinten well said joost
Ben Dover1 americans have no fish care
Ben Dover1 well said ben ive had murders with some people on youtube with the things they do and way they handle fish. Carp especially.
If you want to catch Some zander... you have to let your swimbait sinks!! You gonna catch a lot of zander!!
That is a small sized zander. Swedish record is 12 kgs. Thats 26 pounds :D
yeah true but for my first one i'll take it.
FishAholic Fishing they are delicious too eat. try some when you get out of The city. :)
Yeah I really like eating walleye I would imagine they taste similar.
that was not an average size zander.... it looked pretty small and probably barely legal. We cant even keep them here in Germany unless they are over 45cm/17.7in. Average here is maybe around 65cm/25.5 in. A Zander over 90cm/35 in is big, not trophy but big.

u must be on something, u do hold a perch by the mouth, but u can help it by putting ur hand under it's belly!
