In 1986 I was in the 7th grade & went on a school Washington DC field trip from California to the east coast. On one stop in NYC to the statue of liberty I saw a SANESMITH burner on a subway train & another one under a bridge by lady liberty & was forever hooked on all things graffiti! Since then I considered new york graffiti to be the best. Great documentary, love love love it!!!
getting up on a michael jackson music video is bananas
FINALLY
This has to be one of the best documentations of NYC graffiti this year and my top 5 so far. RIP SANE. Yo legends never die!

Honored to be here for the premiere. Great work as always
They are still a few surviving examples of his work today in NYC. @freshpaintnyc found a few
This dropped and I didn't know about it.
This documentary deserves to be at Sundance film festival… If you know you know… 💪🏼 #classic #graffiti #nyc #history
Gonna be a banger in 3 parts
just took my food out the microwave for this premiere.
What blows me away is the variety of styles they could do and they always executed a new one.
I'm just getting into Graff at 14 and I just LOVE the culture. I tag aeko and ALL I CAN DAMN THINK ABOUT IS GRAFFITI
Sane was up outside of NYC. I saw a Ket Sane in Philly on Amtrak trackside somewhere between 88-90.
Facts i saw it in Philly too
Who did that Americas Got Enough Nuclear Troubles car? 🔥
The first time I heard about SANE it was many many moons ago. I was reading an article in Rolling Stone magazine that put me up on JA XTC & SET at that time Magazines were the Internet. To this day, I still have the clippings cut out of Rolling Stone. That had to be probably about 30 years ago. GRAFFITI IN PEACE
Modesto California
No rush but when’s part 3?

Cro Mags . Nice choice !
JWF Exclusive" great job on the documentary everything goes back to the roots and history ... Sane Smith became a part of that history.
this is one of the most beautiful doc iv'e ever seen
I remember growing up in New York and seeing these guys literally everywhere and wondering who they were. This is really cool..
My first sighting of their work was on the A Line in Far Rockaway.
He’s fallen as a legend
Really terrific. A great document of the man's work and indirectly the city during that era. Thanks for making this.
So crazy seeing those sunken trains with graff on them
HOLY SHT !!!
I never knew they were from my neighborhood 🤯
Washington Heights 💯🎯
The first two names I recall seeing up when I became aware of graffiti. Excellent doc. SMITH is a really great guy and I’m glad you were able to get him for this piece.
Same
One of the best films I've ever seen!!! Absolutely beautiful, just one of those stories that needed telling for a very long time now...much love from Berlin ❤️💚💙🩵🤎🖤
this is so sick, thank you for documenting this culture
bout to watch! i already know it’s gonna be DOPE. Legends!
i always see they tags when im exploring the subway tunnels
There used to be an old forum about NYC gang life and they had a whole thread about FK crew from Washington Heights, where some old members discussed how they proudly bullied Sane and Smith as they were white boys from the neighbourhood. The FK crew I think became a more infamous drug gang in the late 80s Wild Cowboy era.
Fresh Kings
What’s the book @11:12

I met Smith bombing by himself late night on170 Grand Concourse...He was Kool, serious and to himself a real DareDevil to be roaming the streets late night getting up...This was around 1986 he was already up and known.

Is this on dvd ?
It’s also wild how they have super early photos as tags, before digital cameras it seemed like a waste of film so it wasn’t really done unless you were at the end of the roll and were in a rush to get flicks of pieces developed 😂 I’m so glad people took them.
Is part 3 nor up yet?
