Holy hell Dammam to Riyadh by bicycling? Im a healthy 22 man and if I tell my parents that im gonna do it by cycling they doubt its possibility, you are incredible. Also yeah unfortunately Dammam is not well designed for cycling nor pedestrian walk.
you are officially crazy hahaha I used to drive from Dammam to Riyadh every week for my internship 8 years ago and the highways were paved with death! I can't believe you did this! Wish you a safe journey ahead
😆 thanks! Actually I didn’t mind the highways (despite the traffic cops believing me to be at great danger there) the real problem cycling in Saudi were the cities; absolute nightmare to navigate across all those highways by bicycle ⚠️
I recently moved to Khobar and planning to continue my cycling here. I will be bringing my Bianchi in October 2023 from Sri Lanka and would love to explore. Thanks for sharing these insights since it will be helpful to learn.
I recently came across your biking videos and was blown away! I also do some bike content but it is nowhere near as from what you do. Thanks for inspiring me, and please stay safe out there.
Hi! Wow thank you! I work hard and try my best with what I’ve got - namely an iPhone, free editing software, and recently a super fancy GoPro - so thank you, I’m very grateful of the compliment! 😃🚴🏻♀️🤙🏼
when i first arrived in riyadh, i thought i would try life on a bike for a month or two.. that was 8yrs ago. i am living in riyadh on a bike. i have decided i dont need a car in riyadh.
@@helsonwheels i really need to find safe crossing points for major highways. my house is only 5kms from my office.. but i ride 15kms to cross at safe locations, which makes my 1-way ride about 45mins.. but that's nothing. i genuinely enjoy biking.
Our cities built with no pedestrians or cyclists in mind. Maybe it's not great investment as the weather is too hot, but it's the same for colder cities. So i think it's straightup poor city planning hope it changes in the future
I haven’t cycled in the USA myself but people tell me it’s a similar thing in California for example. It’s a pity, but also understandable in a land of cheap fuel and sweltering summer days.. ☀️

I've been in those kind of situations before too.
Yeah Saudi cities were some of the most challenging roads I’ve ridden 😖 And yes there’s lots of youngsters here using e-bikes for no good reason, but in hilly Europe I met several older cyclists who would’ve had to have given up cycling were it not for e-bikes..
I’d like to.. but it’s an extra 500kms and riding in Saudi cities seems to be quite dangerous, and pretty unpleasant.. buuuuuuut I do wanna see baboons around Ta’aif… soooo maybe! 🤷🏻♀️

Haha! Your parents are right to question the idea 😆 Saudi is a such stunning country but cycling across the cities is not recommend 🫣
@@helsonwheels yeah I wish it was but I guess due to heat they never considered it which is fair imo 🤷♂️
@HeSo_71 absolutely! There aren’t currently enough cyclists in Saudi to warrant a road system being built with cyclists in mind..
That’s so awesome. Hope you enjoyed the desert scenery. Safe travels 😁
I did! Actually I quite miss the desert and it’s warmth now I’m up in the mountains.. ☺️

Unfortunately all cities not preparing for bike road , So you have to be carefull and the drive in saudi it's craaaaazy
Yes, you’re right! I’m trying to ride in a country not set up for cycling..
Is it allowed to ride on the Highway? I want to unicycle there but I am scared of the Police Just stopping me
Totally allowed. The police don’t stop you, they might check your paperwork, and tail you for your ‘safety’ but they absolutely won’t stop you
I confirm, in the man section there is a man leading the pray and the speakers in the women section are connected to his mic
Ah thank you. So obvious once it’s explained! 🤦🏻♀️ thanks!

Wow!! How do you manage moving between zones? I found having to join a motorway to cross each motorway very challenging!

The military checkpoint you were at was the Saudi National Guard
Ohhhh thank you! It took up a lot of Dammam but on my map just appeared as residential streets 😖
@@helsonwheels i mean we only installed these after a terrorist event happened where the terrorists captured innocent civilians, in the desert at midnight
Oh interesting. The terrorist attacked happened in the desert and these military encampments were set up in the suburbs as a result?
All that land and no bicycle trails for e-bikes?
Like specifically for e-bikes? How would that look? With charging points you mean?
