This collaboration with Jason derulo, nct 127, and lay was definitely interesting when it came out! Would have never thought they would all collaborate.

They filmed this either in different areas of the same place or several different countries.

"Let's Shut Up and Dance" is a collaboration of 3 artists or groups from all different parts of the world and features dancers from all over the world, so this song was meant to celebrate what makes singing and dancing such a universal art.
If you know Jason Derulo's background, it's not surprising that he is a great dancer. He was a dancer even before he was a singer. If you have ever watched the American competition show called "So You Think You Can Dance?" He was a guest judge on the show for one or two seasons and he talked about his background in dance. He actually has a background in tap dance, hip-hop, ballet, contemporary, etc.
This whole song and choreography is supposed to be a tribute to Michael Jackson. Jason is dressed with the white jacket and hat like Michael in "Smooth Criminal" Lay's red outfit is supposed to remind you of MJ's"Thriller" outfit, and of course, the sequin jacket, and I think the black outfits NCT wear is supposed to remind us of "Bad," etc. etc. Most of their outfits and dance moves were supposed to be emulating MJ.
This MV was filmed in different locations all over the world. Lay is the Chinese member of EXO, so his part wasn't even filmed at the same time or location as Jason and NCT-127. Lay couldn't technically work with NCT-127 because they are a Korean group under a Korean company, even though they are both from SM Entertainment. It's all about appearances. Because of the conflict between the Chinese and Korean government Lay was restricted from working in Korea or associating with anything to do with a Korean company. The Chinese government will look the other way at some things because it's a song by an American artist and it's all in English, but to be seen actually working alongside a Korean group would probably have pushed it too far.
As an SM group and SM artists, as you know, NCT-127 are another group of amazing vocalists, rappers and dancers. Just like all of SM groups. :D However, just an FYI, this was only less than half the group of NCT. This was a performance with the members of NCT-127 which, if you remember, has 10 members. However, NCT has 21 members in total and 4 sub-units. LOL NCT is different than any other Kpop group in the industry. You really need to react to a lot more EXO content, as well as Lay's solo work because there are a lot of songs from them I think you are really going to like.
Lay is one of the most famous celebrities in China right now, so everyone wants to work with him. He owns his own record label/studio in China and he produces his own music, as well as music for other artists. He is one of the most sought after celebrities in China who is quickly become recognized for also being one of the most talented. So even American artists such as Jason Derulo, Far East Movement, @t and Steve Aoki are clamoring to work with him.He even has two solo self-produced English albums.
