    - Lute & Oud - The Oldest String Instrument of the Humankind -
The origin of the oud belongs to the ancient times and similar instruments were used by the Babylonian and ancient Egyptian. Until today, oud is played as "king of the instruments" in Arabic culture.
The oud found his way to Europe in medieval times and it became "lute". During the Renaissance the lute was regarded as "king of the instruments".

Do you know you play Pythagorean music?
It is the music of harmony that rules the universe.
Great talent, you hide a Greek deep inside your soul.

A very important discovery made by Pythagoras is the numerical interpretation of the universe. By measuring the proper chord lengths of a monochord, he found that the consonant musical intervals could be expressed in simple numerical ratios of the first four whole numbers. To him are attributed the numerical ratios of the octave (1/2, di pasas), the pure fourth (3/4, syllables), the pure fifth (2/3, di oxian) and the major tone (8/9, eighth, which is the difference between fourth pure and fifth pure). Correspondingly, the intervals expressed by these ratios were called by the ancient Greeks: dia pason (1/2), dia four (3/4, ratio epitritos), dia five (2/3, ratio semiolios) and eighth (8/9, eighth reason). Pythagoras' interest in musical harmony is due to the theory of the "Harmony of the Spheres" formulated by his wife Theano.[10]
