Introduction to Psytrance: Progressive Psytrance

Together with Full On Progressive Psytrance is the most popular style of the last years. Instead of full power, speed and madness Progressive Psy relies in arrangement, atmosphere and carefully placed sounds to create a trippy track. Prog Psy is slower than most psytrance, with the bpm lying around the 125-140 range and more minimal. It combines Psytrance with Techno, Trance and House elements. It's usually ideal for morning hours, but many progressive as dark as well (check Dark Progressive video).
Progressive Psytrance first became popular around 2000 when many artists started to produce a more minimal sound than that of Goa/Psy. Over the years Progressive became more and more clubby and many tracks today are on the borderline of Progressive Trance and House.
