Tuomas with the "holy shit" hands on his head (at 5:18) reacting to the crowd control Floor has I think is the greatest thing. He had to be so happy at that moment he had her in his band.
Also, crowd control, stage mastery… brilliance shown in every aspect!
Yes, that's my favorite part of the video, watching Tuomas look out into the crowd, almost in awe. And Floor is like, "Yeah, I got this."

Tuomas makes this gesture not very often ... and in Gelsenkirchen this year ... he did it too.
I think it's because Tuomas still thinks that he's not good enough to do what he does, despite him being known, not just by the fans, but by even other bands.
For example, Bruce Dickinson once said that if he bought any band's album, it would be a Nightwish album, because of Tuomas' songwriting. _That_ says something.
By the way, did y'all catch the "Of Wolf and Man" auditory reference in the guitar playing by Emppu, at the same time?

The name amaranth comes from the Greek, amarantos. It can be translated as "not fading", "always blooming". In Greek mythology, Amarantos is an eternally blooming flower that was well hidden by the gods. If it is found nevertheless, it gives immortality to its finder.

Floor's stage presence really shines here,some bands need painted faces or outragous costumes,or like "baby metal" ,elaborate choreochrafie ,wich is all fine but, just the natural way Floor moves around and than that cheeky smile at the end😆,its just that you can't imagen her doing something else,she is born to be on a big stage.🤘

One of Anette's best songs(IMO). Floor does great with the song too, but in this video , it's her command of the stage and audience that is most impressive to me. And I love Marko's small vocal part too.
Great reaction! This is an Annette song and one of Nightwish's more commercially oriented songs (not that it's bad thing!). Her performance on the music video is one of her best with Nightwish and the video also has a very cool storyline although I have to admit the cutaways to the band feel like very cheesy 2000's music video edits. Worth checking out to be introduced to Annette's voice.
I have always liked this song. One of my favorites, don't worry about the sound. LOOKS make up for it. More please 😊

There are fog machines which sticks around longer, and then there are "cryo blasts" which go away rather quickly simply because it's just compressed frozen air which dissipates almost immediately once it reaches ambient temperature.

At this point, Floor wasn’t even a permanent member of the band. Imagine that. As a fill-in vocalist, she is commanding the stage and that crowd. Her impact has got to be unprecedented in music.

Oh, Sweetie, every new song is your new favorite ... it's not just you, it's all of us. This is an Anette Olzon ear song, and she does an excellent version of it, as Tuomas wrote it for her voice. Floor's interaction with the crowd was very much like what Anette did, and as this was early in Floor's tenure, she had really yet made it her own. Amaranth is a plant that the Spanish conquistadors tried to stop the Incas & Mayans from growing, thinking it would impede the establishment of Catholicism in the New World. It apparently has spiritual aspects to it. Leave it to Tuomas to pen another deep song with an amazingly catchy hook. Floor, of course, takes it to the moon! Another enjoyable reaction ... always enjoy your work!

You got the name correct. This was a big single for Nightwish. Everyone knew this one without Floor announcing the title.

I think Tuomas is comparing Nightwish to the myth of the Amaranth. The never dying flower always in bloom no matter what kind of stormy weather comes.
The amaranth flower is one of the symbols of immortality and has been used as such a symbol since the time of Ancient Greece. Indeed, the word comes from the Greek (Αμάρανθος or Αμάραντος), meaning the "one that does not wither," or the never-fading (flower). to illustrate the difference in fleeting and everlasting beauty.
Aesop's Fables (sixth century B.C.E.) compares the rose to the amaranth to illustrate the difference in fleeting and everlasting beauty.
A Rose and an Amaranth blossomed side by side in a garden,
and the Amaranth said to her neighbour,
"How I envy you your beauty and your sweet scent!
No wonder you are such a universal favourite."
But the Rose replied with a shade of sadness in her voice,
"Ah, my dear friend, I bloom but for a time:
my petals soon wither and fall, and then I die.
But your flowers never fade, even if they are cut;
for they are everlasting.”
Great reaction to a great song! This was the second single released with the second vocalist, Anette, and in a way for me it was her "proper" reveal, given that the first single with her, Eva, was an acoustic ballad (which was great in its own right, but not what we normally expect from Nightwish). It also signified an era of great division among the fanbase, where people either loved her or (unfortunately) hated her when she replaced Tarja. I personally loved this era and the two albums she recorded are two of the band's best in my opinion. Keep it going!
Regarding not knowing the lyrics, yes it's happened to me a few times where I don't know the lyrics that everyone else is singing, but hasn't stopped my enjoyment! Thankfully never had a microphone put straight on my face, that would truly be terrifying 😂

2 thoughts always strike me about this Waken performance...
1.) English isn't the bands first language...
2.) All of these songs were written for different singers...yet you would never be able to tell that Floor wasn't in mind from the beginning...
Suggestion...just to take a break from Waken...
