One option you didn't say about those Nevertokens... If you know you're about to go into a bad situation, you can set up a plan to try and summon a compatriot where you KNOW they will refuse. Because instead of using your summoning to bring them to you, you can instead use it as a signal for them to use THEIR summoning on YOU. Instant escape from the stickiest of situations.
Now I'm imagining two Soft Claws fighting a dangerous foe, likely an evil ancient dragon in a cave or something hard to get away from. Dragons and people living together in harmony sounds wonderful and awesome! Imagine dragons helping to transport goods on their mighty backs, running market stalls, and just generally hanging around being normal citizens. You can experience this in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, where I basically had a euphoric experience in that game by choosing to BECOME a Gold Dragon. The main fort city, sprawling with townsfolk of all kinds, was suddenly home to many good dragons the townsfolk just would marvel at and even talk to. NOW THAT is a dream come true for a CRPG campaign, and I want to try to do a campaign like that using your Monster Classes 2 book, where I plan on playing as a sassy and flirty female Copper Dragon. Story idea: Zundaerazylym needs to spread the recipe for her super ripplebark mushrooms to other dragons so they can learn to make their own, but she needs to do it in a way where they wouldn't fight each other for the information. She decides that the best way to do this is to write a cookbook under a pseudonym with the recipe in it, stick copies of it in treasure piles for evil dragons and deliver them directly to good dragons. They also contain samples of the spores of the mushrooms and instructions on how to cultivate ripplebark for the dragons to use as a "fun experiment to try at home". While more murderous Red, White and Black dragons might not be very interested if their favorite hobby is death and destruction anyways, I can imagine Claugiyliamatar boredly flipping through the pages and having her servants make the dishes until she gets to the part with the ripplebark mushrooms and realizing she had found a way that she can achieve her dream of being a high class humanoid lady and not starve. Never played DnD, but I love fantasy games and stories. I bought my niece a DnD starter kit for Christmas though. Hoping she gets to immerse herself in this game.
I seen a aj picket video about this dragon awhile back and fell in love with the character, I’m very happy to hear your take on our laughing lady. She is easily my favorite dragon and I was hoping you’d cover her in this series.
Mr rhexx your videos have helped me so much to fall in love with the game and give my players all kinds of surprises from the older editions and such, make lore in my game consistent with 5e, and allow me to take the best and worst of every campaign and decide what really actually fits
I'm currently running a D&D session set in the Moonshae Isles and have been reading into dragons in the area and was wondering if you think the Red Dragon Hoondarrh would make for an interesting video? I'd love to have all the information on him laid out in video format and personally think he's a pretty interesting dragon. I've got a Wizard in the party who's been researching dragons, so I'd like to know as much as I can to make it interesting for him.
A recommendation if you are doing the Realms, old issues of Dragon Magazine ran a great series of articles on many well known dragons with unique treasures and spells. Lot if the older 3E material has great info, and if you can access the Wayback Machine with WOTC during 3E, there are hundreds of free articles of gaming material there. 5E is just a revision of 3E, so it can be easily adapted.
There's a dragon-only spell that lets them turn their gizzard and stomach into a massive bag of holding, I think Rhexx covered it in one of their dragon vids
Yet another great video on dnd's most iconic type of monster. Nicely done as always. If we could get a video on Ashardalon I would be overjoyed though.
I havent watched this video just yet but I saw that you sited sources. I didnt expect you to have done so but I am pleased. I watch your videos here and there mostly to get someone to explain and talk about material I dont wish to read or have a harder time retaining info of. A few friends of mine claim that your videos are not proper resource material as you do this purely for entertainment, but I disagreed. The only thing I complain about is the lack of cited sources for your information and the replaced info (as in when you talked about Klauth and subbed items out when that wasnt necessary). I am always pleased to see your uploads and watch them at my leisure and rewatch on occasion for some of them.
Easily one of, if not my favorite D&D lore master! Would love to see you do something on Atropus if you ever get around to it! But am enjoying the ride either way! Here is to another great year, hope yours is great man!!
Someone introduce this dragon to goodberry. "...the berry provides enough nourishment to sustain a creature for one day." It solves the dragons problem with food and is very cheap to get as it requires a sprig of mistletoe for casting but doesn't consume the material so it can be used over and over again.
The steel dragon in this show is a master of Byzantine diplomacy. The tricking of other nations to attack others while the instigator just sits back and enjoys the show.
I have played D&D for 30 years now, and I still play, and loving it! I do not play a character much n e more, mostly DM for my close friends. But I had been creating my realm w/ my brother, worked on my realm for 7 years before I allowed others to play, I battle tested, role-played tested my realm/idea’s. What about the red comet that drives dragons mad. A high elven ritual created a comet that would drive dragons mad every so often and the purpose and effect was to stop them from having a civilization.
Okay I’m so glad I wasn’t the only one thinking this! I’ve been searching these comments for awhile and found yours. That curse was specifically placed upon the comet to make sure dragons never unified again. She’d have to find a way to undo or get past the effects of the red comet, but that’s probably something a campaign can cover. If we had all the answers in the lore, then it’d be tough to make an adventure for it I believe. But hey, I now got a campaign idea breaking on my head…
i dont play dnd but i enjoyed watching your videos, every lore and backgrounds are very fascinating specially when you cover dragons, thank you for making this playlist 🙇
"You still have to contend with the legendary hunger of a dragon... If you had a couple hundred dragons living in a city like Neverwinter, feeding each of them hundreds of cows a year would cripple the food supply for the humans." Create Food and Water 3rd level conjuration You create 45 pounds of food and 30 gallons of water on the ground or in containers within range, enough to sustain up to fifteen Humanoids or five steeds for 24 hours. The food is bland but nourishing, and spoils if uneaten after 24 hours. The water is clean and doesn't go bad. One could imagine researching a 4th level modified version that simply produced quality food instead, or produced ingredients that could then be cooked or otherwise prepared in normal ways. While you tend to favor 5th Ed rules, the 2nd Ed rules had even an adult Steel dragon able to use four level three spells per day, so the 3rd level standard variant would allow them to afford food for 60 humanoids, while a mature adult with the suggested modified version could do the same but with quality food / ingredients. This amount could be supplemented by clerics committed to the cause of integration as a 5th Ed cleric of level 5 or paladin of level 9 could cast two of the 3rd level standard version twice a day, while a 7th level cleric or 13th level paladin could cast the modified version once per day. Far from crippling the food supply, you have a great potential for expanding the economy by accommodating the dragons their hunts and making up the difference while increasing cash flow to the local temples/churches/places of worship in support of the gods who agree with the goal of this integration.
Love your content! You've always provided great insight and plot-hooks that add depth to the homebrew my group runs! That being said, a few years ago you were going through different forms of elven/high magic and mentions rituals of myriad, including teasers for insight into High Moor. Any chance it can be added to the docket after these dragon videos? Love the content! Anything you do is great, but access to powerful elvish (only race allowed to cast high magics around limitations set after the fall of Mystryl) may be the only magic that has the ability to contend with the ultimate conclusion of my campaign (Asmodeus consuming the night serpent and manipulating adventurers to kill Demogorgon in order to make a play for the shard of evil and consuming reality). I like pulling from lore and your videos are some of my favorite content. Any insights into magic on this level would be amazing!

I don’t know if you only cover forgotten realms but the dragon from dark sun is very cool. The art for him is very scary and it’s eerie how close it looks to a human that became a dragon, with the long limbs. Blech! Also, great. Would love a video on him.
This whole video gave me an idea for a campaign about a smart orc warchief and a white agressive dragon who figured out they were manipulated by her and are taking some sweet revenge, getting her out of the way and the orcs invading the town.
I like this Dragon, and what it is trying to accomplish. Any of the paladins I have played over the last forty years would be happy to aid in her quest
Ooooo, this gives me ideas for a morally grey plot about the soft claws trying to destabilize burgeoning orc nations that are becoming better at dealing with Chromatic Dragons but might not be interested in becoming allies with other peoples
The part about the long rest in game mechanic in my D&D group made it more realistic & challenging yet still fun. for example my current character got repeatedly hit at the leg and is now crippled... he now permanently moves at half his max speed, really it just added another flaw to him, but because he's a fun character to play, I do what I can to keep this roguish character of mine alive
I'm curious about the dietary requirements of certain dragon species. Longbite would be incredibly helpful to those that need to or enjoy eating meat but some dragons diets enable them to live amount humans quite easily. For example when I was researching what Moonstone Dragons eat, I was only able to find moonlight and nectar mentioned in Fiziban's book. I was looking into Moonstone dragona deits since it wasn't highlighted in the regional effects like a lot of the gem dragons introduced to 5e in the same book. A lot of the gem dragons favourite food will be drawn to the location a Gem dragon loves since they psionically influence them.
I imagined a steel dragon based on Odo from Deep Space Nine who works as the chief inspector for a major city. He's an extremely lawful person, but has the skill set of a high-level rogue. He is masterful at manipulating sources, going undercover, running stings and generally outsmarting criminals at their own game.

Btw, there's an entire book trilogy set in Halruaa written by Elaine Cunningham, The Counselors and Kings-trilogy. Magehound, Floodgate and Wizard War, in that order. They are set between the Time of Troubles and the Second Sundering but before the Spellplague. They're not heavy on lore and the books are always a little outside of official lore but the setting is interesting, and it's a fun read IIRC.

I think what she is doing is so noble and I hope there is a storyline that furthers her cause
Awesome Video like always. Dragons are awesome. I hope one day for Bahamut.
Thank you for both the time and effort you put into your research and the energy and excitement you put into your voice. Both are very much appreciated and loved.
Never played DnD, but I love fantasy games and stories. I bought my niece a DnD starter kit for Christmas though. Hoping she gets to immerse herself in this game.
Happy New Year everybody! Starting off early with new Mr. Rhexx!!
Mama Dragon must be protected at all costs
@@lorensoth4365 thanks for the suggestion
MrRhexx: Says ""Zundaerazylym"
Me: Understand "tsundere zylym"
curse my weeble mind
The plot twist is that she isn't a tsundere at all
Its so funny to see Kushala Daora in context to a DnD Lore vid.
Even he can be cool in this universe 🤣
am i the only one that wonders.... how DOES a dragon move all his/her belongings ? a huge bag? magic transfer spell? of course not by hand...
There's a dragon-only spell that lets them turn their gizzard and stomach into a massive bag of holding, I think Rhexx covered it in one of their dragon vids
@@gekolvr0734 thanks, I must have missed it. This explains why it s a chore for them to move
I have a player with a steel draconic bloodline sorcerer who is in neverwinter right now. Time for a spa day.
Excellent work! Can’t wait to see wich ones next. I hope it’s tchazzar (hope I spelt the right) or a silver dragon.
Zundaerazylym must be protected at all costs
Easily one of, if not my favorite D&D lore master! Would love to see you do something on Atropus if you ever get around to it! But am enjoying the ride either way! Here is to another great year, hope yours is great man!!
Someone introduce this dragon to goodberry. "...the berry provides enough nourishment to sustain a creature for one day." It solves the dragons problem with food and is very cheap to get as it requires a sprig of mistletoe for casting but doesn't consume the material so it can be used over and over again.
Except it doesn't work clearly, because every dragon in existence would use it if it did.
One way to help with the food problem would be criminals. The ones sentenced to death could be dragon food.
I suddenly have the desire to write up a campaign based around either helping or working against this dragon in her goals.
I like these posts/entrees 21:29 21:30
I love the idea of calling reinforcements only to have a high level naked beast of a monk show up still dripping from the bath.
"Point me at em!"
man those tokens and the organization around it would make a grate campaign idea. now i have ideas thank you
What about the red comet that drives dragons mad.
@@TheHuntsmanC130I'm pretty sure that comet was destroyed, ending the era of the dracorage.
As the world becomes more and more civilized, and technologically advanced, those that will cause "problems", will have to be dealt with.....
i dont play dnd but i enjoyed watching your videos, every lore and backgrounds are very fascinating specially when you cover dragons, thank you for making this playlist 🙇
I hope people are reading your books and listening to your videos 50+ years from now!
Another great lore as usual. Happy New Year and hope we can break a few more stretch goal on Sands of Doom before the finale :)
"You still have to contend with the legendary hunger of a dragon... If you had a couple hundred dragons living in a city like Neverwinter, feeding each of them hundreds of cows a year would cripple the food supply for the humans."
Create Food and Water
3rd level conjuration
You create 45 pounds of food and 30 gallons of water on the ground or in containers within range, enough to sustain up to fifteen Humanoids or five steeds for 24 hours.
THANK YOU! Amazing info. Love this series!!!
Regards from Tabasco, México [Land of The Olmecs]!
I don’t know if you only cover forgotten realms but the dragon from dark sun is very cool. The art for him is very scary and it’s eerie how close it looks to a human that became a dragon, with the long limbs. Blech! Also, great. Would love a video on him.
Thanks for the dragon lore! ^^
I love it when Zundaerazylym said it's human time and humaned all over the world
Won't the rage ruin her plan? Dragons used to have their own civilization. Did I miss something?
Thanks for introducing to the concept of "going human"!
Love your content. If you were to make 3.5 adaptations to your stuff ill buy multiple copies of all of it.
A couple months ago I ran a oneshot set in the Laughing Wyrm’s secret vault of heroes, set in the stars above a post-apocalyptic Faerun. Fun times.
The steel dragon video is my favorite and has made me think about some of the characters I have made in different lights.
This whole video gave me an idea for a campaign about a smart orc warchief and a white agressive dragon who figured out they were manipulated by her and are taking some sweet revenge, getting her out of the way and the orcs invading the town.
That's the coolest dragon you've shown so far! She's really awesome!!!
Time to bring 7 Canaries and summon a video for Dragon Jesus already!
I love Zundaerazylym kind of sounds like tsundere.
A Tsundere dragon would be interesting without being too cute for D & D if role played right ...
I like this Dragon, and what it is trying to accomplish. Any of the paladins I have played over the last forty years would be happy to aid in her quest
Another great entry and love the story of the Steel Dragon and how she is changing society.
My name is Zundaerazylym and i have a dream *piano starts playing*
I do enjoy the image of kushala daora from monster hunter, very fitting as they are known as the metallic or the steal dragon
this is such a great campaign arch.... so much to play with, just from this vid.
What a beautiful story. Those Nevertokens are particularly interesting
It sounds like this dragon has invented vegyburgers for dragons. Well, sort of, considering it seems to contain animal bones?
Ooooo, this gives me ideas for a morally grey plot about the soft claws trying to destabilize burgeoning orc nations that are becoming better at dealing with Chromatic Dragons but might not be interested in becoming allies with other peoples
The part about the long rest in game mechanic in my D&D group made it more realistic & challenging yet still fun. for example my current character got repeatedly hit at the leg and is now crippled... he now permanently moves at half his max speed, really it just added another flaw to him, but because he's a fun character to play, I do what I can to keep this roguish character of mine
alive
Toppest tier dnd channel around!
Faerun Economic Forum dragons be like, you will eat the fungus, you will go human, you will own a cornerstore and be happy.
I imagined a steel dragon based on Odo from Deep Space Nine who works as the chief inspector for a major city. He's an extremely lawful person, but has the skill set of a high-level rogue. He is masterful at manipulating sources, going undercover, running stings and generally outsmarting criminals at their own game.
great vid
She has a lot going on and those nevertokens are so cool. It got me wondering if you'll cover Valraxaxath in this series what with all of the different types of teleporting the tokens can cast.
Wonderful video!
So she's literally the embodiment of, "Till all are one". I'm sure she and Optimus Prime would get along fine
Trying to make a society of both secret and open dragon ruled lands and trying to discover motivations and explinations for the wars that are begining and getting an okay idea on how:
This dnd video: "HOLD AWN TO YER LUGNUTS!-ITS T-IIIIIIME FOR AN OVER-HAUL!!!"
I have a halfling bard that is a traveling chef who would be a perfect ally for this dragon.
Uhhuh, luring chromatics to the mountains full of orcs. What a great idea. I already foresee a green or a black dragon with an army of slave orcs.
Already have one planned to join my players soon in the world of Greyhawk. This must be his great grandmother.
I haven't played D&D in a very long time shit the last time I played was 3/3.5 so yeah it's been a really long time but I love all content that people like you make thank you for all the hard work
Love your "Bid deal" series, keep em coming!
Zundaerazylym will start 6e with a massive culture shift
Btw, there's an entire book trilogy set in Halruaa written by Elaine Cunningham, The Counselors and Kings-trilogy. Magehound, Floodgate and Wizard War, in that order. They are set between the Time of Troubles and the Second Sundering but before the Spellplague. They're not heavy on lore and the books are always a little outside of official lore but the setting is interesting, and it's a fun read IIRC.
