Unicorn Spit Bloom-Did it work? Inquiring minds want to know!!

- In this tutorial I was asked by subscribers to try the Unicorn Spit in a bloom. I had to create a alcohol ink with the spit first, so mixed the first batch with four drops of spit and 20 drops of alcohol. That ended up being to light. The second batch I doubled the first batch. That was to strong, it all dropped and prevented the white from spreading. will have to work on the formula, might try mica powder versus pigment paste next time. #resin #resinart

I’ve given up trying as mine NEVER work out, Michelle said hers have always worker, I’m the opposite mine don’t even look like a nice mistake.

Hi lovely lady, I’ve been away for a few weeks with no internet, oh hell withdrawals, so I have a few videos to catch up on, crazy but working forward to back, silly way of doing if now I need to see how you mixed those alcohol ink colours. The way that video played up was freaky but I wanted to see the outcome so muddled through, it didn’t last long anyway. Still pretty both of them but yeah there is a problem there and I’m not experienced enough to know what it is. The blooms are nice but your right the gel like settled weird. I find that with a few different kinds of paints. There was spinning in your video making me ill, sorry but I had to fast forward that part. Keep going girl you'll get it.

Thanks for doing another experiment. The outcome was definitely unexpected, it kind of resembled a puddle pour effect. Almost like the gel, or something in the Unicorn Spit attached itself to the white pigment and isolated it into small cells. Resin experiments are wild sometimes,😆 Every once in a while the results are so curious that I want to sit down with a chemist and ask them “HOW did this happen?!?”🤔 You had both a unique resin result and a unique YT glitch all in the same video!😵💫😂 Never a dull moment.. right?😆❤️

I may be entirely wrong here, but by the way the inks looked and the way they acted, especially when being manipulated or touched, they looked like they have some hydrophobic properties (water-repelling, like oil and water, or oil and vinegar). If so, that probably explains why they don’t mix well with alcohol. I wish I knew how to fix that problem (beyond shaking before use), but they didn’t teach us how to overcome that factor when I was getting my degree in pharmacy. I’m not sure my little sister would have an answer I would fully understand (she is a chemical engineer).
I have to agree with another comment I saw. What was with the spinning picture? I thought it would stop after one spin, then after two spins, and surely it won’t continue after three spins! But it did! I couldn’t see what had happened with the bloom, or with the bloom you revealed. And, I was really interested. But, I’m sorry, I had to go when my vertigo acted up, and triggered a migraine.
I'm sorry, that was a TH-cam glitch, several of us creators experienced this on our videos this night. I had no control over it. Frustrating!!

I the last person to give advise but, all the blooms i ever seen they take a toothpick,stick ,or something and actually draw petals in the top of the resin.and give the center a real good swirl several times. Dont jnow if this helps or henders.like that you are willing to give it a go. Oh yea. Yea the spinning kinda made me dizzy. In sure its just a happy accident. Thank you
Tommie, I have done blooms for 9 years every which way and never had one fail. Even my first bloom was a success. I truly think this was the spit that prevented it from blooming.

When I watch this with the spinning, I feel like I am going to have a seizure. I can't do things that are spinning or flashing.

Beverly, its a water based product, but I don't think its meant for Blooms, at least not with pigment paste anyway.
What is unicorn spit supposed to be used for?

Interesting...So how does it know which fan to pull towards? I have three going, two little floor fans and a ceiling fan.
@resinmeup I think air movement in general can affect it from what I've seen from other videos. I work with UV resin and a fan can even affect my work. I've seen a few epoxy resin videos that used something like a "cozy" to put over their piece that keeps dust off their project while it's hardening. I know that overheating is a potential issue with Epoxy. I'd start there and investigate what others do. Ventilation is important. Not sure what to advise. See what others have to say about it since Epoxy is not my medium... best to your creativity! You go girl!!!
Question: didn’t you originally say that this stuff was water based or am I mistaken about that? If so, wouldn’t it have issues with resin? I didn’t think water and resin was friends 🤷♀️
Carolyn, yes it is a water based product, but it doesn't interfere with the resin because there isn't enough in the product to make a difference.
For example, the alcohol we all use is 91%-99% it has water in it at well. Alcohol inks have water in them because of the alcohol.
We just don't think about it because we just think of "alcohol" and not its contents.

@@resinmeup yes it does. Duh to me. My brain didn’t go there until you said that. (91%) = 7% water down to (99%)= 1% water 🤦🏼♀️. Wonder how much this stuff has in it 🤔. Guess i was just trying to figure out why it clumps when you first start mixing it. Thank you for your response.

What about using Unicorn Spit to color the white? No inks, just white that is colored. 🤔

It's definitely different, not sure I would want to try it. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE no more of those twist effects, I had to skip through it so I didn't end up vomiting (bad sea sickness).
Sorry Lynn, I don't know what that was about, I didn't put that in my video, it was a glitch of some sort. I don't even know how to do that on my end. Sorry. And I cant watch my video back before its posted to TH-cam. They have complete control of it once I upload it.

I didn't know what was happening, but the picture was doing a weird fade thing like those old movies would do a flashback and the screen would spin to take you back in time. It was weird.
