I don't know if this has been answered in the stream chat already but Swap Force on Cemu is „fixed“ with Cemu 2.4 I tried it a few weeks ago and the portal worked and didn't soft lock a Skylander. Also the falling segements seemed to work at the first try. It still has some visual bugs, but everything can be tested in the first level.
The falling issue was with FPS changes, where the game expects you to fall at a certain amount of units *per frame* rather than *per time step* and so changing the amount of time between frames (as the games physics account for this in its physics updates) means the calculations repeatedly fail and the game assumes it should respawn the player. I wasn’t aware of any issue with the Portal but it’s good to see better compatibility
The portal for me was bugged in prior versions of Cemu, and within the time to complete the first level you just couldn't change your Skylander, it was just stuck on the portal. Also didn't matter if it was a real or emulated one. Still, that seems like it's fixed. As for the falling bug. While it might be related to FPS, I changed the FPS to 60 from 30, but now it works (better than before) so I guess that's good as well.
No that bug is still there, but I think that was also only there if there were any graphic packs active. Just tried it, I was either wrong and remebered it because I just happened to install Swap Force on my WiiU at that time, or it did actually work for me at some point.

Did they fix the visual bug on the save file select screen where the saves are invisible?
No that bug is still there, but I think that was also only there if there were any graphic packs active.

Are you continuing this playthrough or is this strictly practice for the real run
He is literally the worst character introduced in this game.If you can accomplish this, your just a god at that point.
