    One weekend I will never forget, had a blast hard to believe it's been 20 years I met most all the driver's even though they where busy fixing unheard of repairs they still took time to say hello!!! Thumbs up to all, R.I.P. to the one's not with us they are probably racing faster than ever keeping an eye on the rest. Can't wait untill I can attend again.

    I can remember wanting to take my car to this but not having much cash left over after putting my 572 together, I really wanted to go the next year but by then the cars had already gotten so fast I couldnt afford it. Hot Rod mag had a problem back then with strut cars being street cars, I built my 57 myself from 88-90 specifically for driving on the street, I never had a problem.
    Great video, though

    My grandpa originally owned Mike Moran's pinto. I have pictures of it back before Mike Moran owned it. It originally had a 351 Cleveland. Grandpa built the trailer it was sold with. My grandpa's name was Gerald Lindsey. He has passed away but would be very happy to know so many people liked his pinto. If you guys want I'll upload a video of pictures of the pinto back in the day.

    My dad told me about Moran's Pinto. Said he saw Mike race a crotch rocket on the street, gave it a head start, got up on the bumper and still won.

    • @reecewatson553
      @reecewatson553 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you know who owns the pinto now?

    • @JRC99
      @JRC99 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't. There's a thread on YellowBullet I found. Just google Mike Moran Pinto.

      +84Bronco351 Okay, thank you. I'll look at it. I'd love to get grandpa's pinto back.

      Whoa! Mike's your grandfather?! You wouldn't have the street racing footage, would you? I thought I heard he had it on his site, but I never could find it.

    • @reecewatson553
      @reecewatson553 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +84Bronco351 No, Mike isn't my grandpa. He bought the pinto from my grandpa. My grandpa built the pinto out of his garage and a trailer to match it. I have pictures of the pinto before Mike Moran owned it.

    the thing about it was that u also had really fast street cars too! it was nice seeing all of the wild combinations that people came with!! then take a cruz then run a mid seven with full interior, etc i love pro mod but they should have left it the way it was. if they went to or allowed full tube because the speed was getting too fast they should have stopped there.

    Randy Lambert from Crown Point, Indiana. Friend of my brother. That car makes the ground shake! You feel it before he gets to your house! AWESOME Impala. It IS a true street car. Just not exactly legal with open headers and slicks. LOL!

    the 1st fastest street car race , and with real cars . not pro/mods or pro/stocks with 10.5 tires .

  • @rayar66

    Tell me about it. Now, Instead of most of the field being made up of backhalved cars like in 92, now they are running Street liscensed, full tube chassied Pro stock or Pro modified cars. That video brought back good memories when I was daily driving an 11 second street car with dreams of one day competing in that event.

    This race is the reason he sold the car and built the "Evil Twin".... He didn't like the losing ha ha. So I think it was in 94' we kicked ass. I wonder who owns that car now. He sold it to Tony Christian eventually. Not sure where it's at now. The last I heard of the 57 in this clip Danchuk had it.

    Most of those were street cars!
    Go to an outlaw 10.5 race now and they are promods with smaller tires.
    Nothing street about them.
    I was running a race back in 1996 in my camaro and was driving to the track and back home. 30 miles one way.
    I ran 6:21 at 111 with mufflers in the eighth mile.
    I drive it everywhere.
    These so called street legal cars at the track today won't run 2 miles before they overheat or break a valve spring.
