Those sunset scenes in Africa...it's hard to beat :) Glad that I could have provided you with a bit of nostalgia & hopefully you'll be able to visit sometime soon. x
I've been watching your videos for several years now and enjoy getting a little break from the daily grind every time. Thank you Nicole for always giving us a glimpse into the fantastic nature of South Africa! Many greetings from rainy Germany
Thanks Kayleigh :) The things that I would do to have a trip to Alberta planned...hopefully it won't be too long until we can get there once again! Take care x
@@NicoleEddy1 If you ever need a local tour guide for some lesser-known hikes around Banff/Canmore, or need a place to crash in Calgary, drop me a line! Summer in the Rockies are idyllic. Much love and take care! x
@@kaleighbruijns9180 I'm going to be traveling all over the UK soon. Going to take full advantage whilst we are restricted travelwise. There is plenty to see here still😁 I'll be vlogging.. not quite as well as nicole😅 but itll be laugh if you want to see more before you get a chance to come and visit! Take care🇬🇧🇨🇦
Thanks for another quality vlog! After watching I can't wait for Sat. Going to the Pilanesburg for 4 days! Great hippo impression with the burger 😆 Also loved the nightjar (?) accompaniment.
Ah, that's very exciting, fingers crossed that you see a lot :) And yes, spot on with the nightjar - one of the best sounds in the evening in the bush! Safe travels
Oef, that Fig Forest walk is dreaaamy. We were at Mkhuze in September last year and there was no guide available for the walk. I think he was on long-term leave. So chuffed the walk is back open. Lucky!
Oh no, that's a great pity - it must just be the one guide doing the walks then! Hopefully you can go again and experience the walk when Patrick isn't on leave 🙈 x
What an amazing place! Awesome vlog as always (seeing that leopard would of been my highlight)...Tell Blair I’m coming over for a burger 🍔, definitely trying that!!!
Thanks so much :) I know, we got so lucky with the leopard sighting - he was walking on the road to try and avoid walking in the wet grass, don’t blame him 😂
Well now I know what I’m making for supper tonight, chicken pineapple burgers it is! Thanks for that 😂. Also, do you know what the redish brown bird behind the blue waxbills is? I loved seeing more shots of birds in this vlog, all so beautiful!
Excellently edited vlog. I particularly enjoyed the music sound track and the ambient sounds. Have you had any scary moments on game park armed guided tours? 😉😂😎🍷
Thanks Greg :) Only one hairy moment a few years back where we stumbled upon a lone buffalo (which is probably the last thing you want to come across on foot as they are unreasonably aggressive), but thankfully he bolted in the other direction - certainly got the heart racing!
It was blimmin’ tasty as well 🤤 With regards to the scent, it can definitely attract the scavengers such as hyena and jackals, especially if visitors have fed them from the fire place before.
Such beautiful country & I love learning about the birds x Is there a recommended book or website to learn more about them please? Are you and Blair going to write your own book about what you have seen? xox
Hi Cathy :) We use the Roberts Bird Guide & Phone App (the phone app is particularly good with learning the bird calls) and the bird book is really comprehensive. We keep both a life list & a year list that tracks all of our birds seen in obviously our lives and then for each year, but I don't think that we'll write a book - unless you manage to convince Blair 😉
Hi Nicole! Im well aware that most animals don't attack unless threatened but when you visit these lodges and eatout in the open, are you ever concerned? love your content, keep it up!
Hi Jay :) Thanks for the message. Not really - especially during the day. The only thing that I would be very wary of is buffalo, and maybe elephant, but things like your lion and leopard will do their best to stay far away from you. Monkeys are honestly the biggest pest at these picnic sites during the day. At night however, one has to be slightly more wary as your big cats are a lot more brazen than during the day, as well as hyena, but if you keep checking around with a spot and don't veer too far away from camp in the dark, you should be A OK :)
Africa is so pretty. That Bold eagle in the tree reminds me of the 3 year old girl that vanished 3 weeks ago up on the Blackfoot Reservation. People may not know it but those big birds will take your children when your not looking.
Oh wow, that's quite hectic! Thankfully the African Fish Eagle pretty much only subsists on fish, so as far as I'm aware there has been no such instances. I hope the little girl was found eventually!!
@@NicoleEddy1 No they never found her. They called in the National Guard and did a large search of 20 miles in all directions of where she was last seen but found nothing. I'm sure she ended up by a nest of baby birds to be ripped apart and fed to the mother birds baby's. The sad part is that animals don't kill their pray but rip them apart while their still alive. There was another 3 year old just over the State line in Leadore, Idaho years ago who vanished from a Camp Ground. They did a big land search for him as well. Nothing was found. I camped in a spot 50's from there before this and I counted over 90 Buzzards perched in the trees one night. They were all there because of a Mouse Infestation. There was also a story I was made to read about a woman who sword up and down that she saw her baby grow wings and fly into the Clouds. She only saw the wings sticking out from both sides of her baby but not the body of the bird. It was an old wives tail kind of a story but it could of been a Bible Story too. I don't remember. When you start having Kids Nicole, don't leave them unattended outside ever.
Hey Tara :) It's the GoPro Hero7 Black - I love the GoPro, I don't travel anywhere without it as it's super small, shoots slo-mo and the image is great quality!
Another beautiful vlog! I am just curious, do most of the camp accommodations have two separate small beds? Instead of one bigger bed? I am loving your travels.!
Thank you :) Yes, for some reason most of these places (including Kruger National Park) have two single beds as opposed to a double, but our chalet prior to the tent had a double bed.
So much work went into making this great video - really liked the labels for the birds, the tortoise and the burger recipe at the end.
Thank you so much, really appreciate the kind comment :)
Lovely to watch your vlogs! Such a breath of fresh air for those who are shielding :)
Thank you so much :)
I was thinking the exact same thing! It's so nice to see some exploring and outside world still going on hey?
Gosh Blair can make a burger. Looks delicious. Love the tent home u stayed in. So comfy to sit out there with a good book in the quiet xxx
Thanks Mary :) It was a great spot to read in the shade! And yip, I'm so glad that he loves cooking, haha!
The sound of the trumpeter hornbill also special hey. The nightjar as well. Those trees are just wonderful. Good video 👏
They were going bananas the whole trip...flying here and there, quite comical :) Thanks for watching!
aaaah the African sunsets with the fish Eagle perching. you make me miss Africa. lovely vlog xxx
I miss Namibia 🙏❤

Very nice, no Lions in Mkuze when we went there 15 years ago.
Yes, I think they were only introduced in late 2013. I don't think there's too many - but definitely a small pride.
Great episode again, so relaxing to watch this!

I wish you better luck in future with the fishing owl. Thanks for the tour of the safari tent. Nice. Always wanted to stay in one.
Thank you - I still have a lot to see so I wasn’t too fussed, but that’s one of the few species that Blair still needs to see in South Africa ☺️
Just perfect 😍 I do love your logs...#beautiful .Blair’s chicken burgers 🍔 what can one say lol 😂 x

Awesome channel Nicole.....you were very close to the number 1 birding reserve in SA, Ndumo Game Reserve. Very few people know of it :) 430 species
Hey Paul :) I know, we were very close but were on limited time unfortunately. Just another excuse to head back that way!
Thank you Nicole. We are visiting Mkuze for the first time next week. We’ll certainly do the fig forest walk.
