Another year would've been good for any player but not needed and the fact that an injury could hurt him greatly for next year's draft meant leaving was a good decision.
He didn't disappear--he was out of rhythm and on the bench due to foul trouble for more than half the game... actually played very well down the stretch. But that's the nature of a quick 40 minutes single elimination game style tournament. As for the reason for that loss, it was more about Allen going 2-9 and Trent 2-10 from beyond the arc--many were wide open. Also, and I say this as a Duke fan, credit Newman for having a monster second half, Mykhailiuk hitting that clutch three--Duke probably wins if that doesn't fall.
