Good info. I've just downteched my reef and it's not as difficult to keep cool now. Lights, internal filter(and I keep sps😱) Wavemaker, and a heater. I suppose if you're really struggling then turn one or two pieces of equipment off. Keep up the good work mate from down in Surrey. 👍 🇬🇧
Yeah, you touch on a good point. I think it's really easy to keep adding more and more complexity to a reef but I'm not totally convinced that it necessarily brings better and better results.
I also bring my air intake from my skimmer into the room instead of out the window. The room is air conditioned. Also for a couple days shutting the lights don’t really hurt anything.
Good thinking! I never thought of the skimmer line! Mine is inside anyway but this is a good tip for people like you with it outside. I always try to avoid turning the lights off but you're right, probably won't make that much difference for a few days. During shipping, corals are in the dark for a few days anyway.
We are in record Temps east coast us. 102 plus. Chiller has been running non stop 2 months. It's insane. In twenty years this is the first year I had to turn heaters completely off. So weird. Baby 25g in kitchen trying to drop temp with ice n fan this am. I've never had to cool baby tank. This is horrible
Best wishes to you all for keeping your aquariums healthy through the heatwave!

What's the maximum temperature the fish and coral can handle?

That's insane! I hope you and the tank are hanging in there OK! Have you seen any negative effects?
