I am Team "Car Enthusiast" and enjoy ICE and EVs. In fact, I don't care if the vehicle runs on cow manure as long as it's fun to drive. This video proves that stock EVs, destroy almost any ICE vehicles in the market, and you must highly modify them to stand a chance. I love ICE vehicles; modifying them is fun, but this does not mean you should disregard or hate EVs. The future is EVs, and all your favorite performance vehicles will make the switch or become irrelevant. It may start with the hybrid approach where an EV motor is added for the instant torque up front while the ICE provides the long-term performance at higher speeds, but either way, EVs are the future. Why not have one of each and enjoy what they both offer? I am certainly in the market for a nice ICE project car I can mod and have fun with while I drive a Tesla Model 3 Performance and truly enjoy it. I was in Ennis, TX, at the speedway last weekend when a highly moded Z34 wanted to roll race me from 30 MPH. I left him in a different zip code, but afterward, we both enjoyed it and respected each other's vehicles for what they were. One last point, many of us enjoy going around a race track and not having a car that is only good in a straight line. Most of the vehicles in this video are good at only one thing, while the same EVs can also be driven around race tracks with fantastic performance. Peace out and keep ICE alive, but let's welcome EVs.
I still would rather have a Tesla any day, if I could only choose one. ICE vehicles (especially modified ones) fail at a much more frequent rate than EVs when pushed to the limits. Sure, some ICE vehicles sound better, but transmissions suck. The instant torque and no need to downshift in an EV just make them undeniably better. Also, they are way more consistent and you literally can't misshift or blow a transmission in a Tesla. If I could have more than 1 vehicle, I'd want an upcoming Tesla roadster as the sports car, a fully electric Honda Accord as the daily driver, and some kind of ICE car with a twin-turbo V8 (don't know exactly what car yet) because I do also like ICE vehicles.
I'm just a car lover, and this video has done me! I drive a Tesla as daily car. But if i would have money i would have a Tesla too, because i just love the silent acceleration that makes me a furious ninja... But i love V8 sounds too...

@@Drac_xiii …. The mods won’t mean crap to the EV’s unless the improve the battery life and performance. That will always be the limiting factor. I know because I asked the Tesla Plaid Channel what have they changed or any maintenance on their Plaid and he said only brake pads in 1550 runs at the dtragstrip.
You can literally turn down the boost back to stock and drive it to the grocery store or make it a daily driver (power of boost control)

Tesla won, cry about it
Team combustion because of sound and feeling but you gotta give it to the tesles they aint bad
2:42 the Hell cat hooked it. No beating that when it sticks.
The fact that many of the cars vs the Tesla had MANUAL transmissions and still won.
that actually makes it more likely they would win. You control your shifting and there's less unsprung weight in the drivetrain. Most drag cars are standard-shift.
I had a 2001 Hyundai Elantra GLS before my current car. They sold the company and totally redesigned it before the next Elantra in 2003. That last GLS was their competition for the Subaru WRX... it was all wheel drive with a 5 speed manual, and it was fast! I could barely keep from peeling out every time I left from stop. As an added bonus it had an automatic sunroof, great stereo system, and got 35 miles to the gallon. It was a 4 door too, but the gas mileage was unbelievable for the speed and size of it. I used it to pull a 14 foot enclosed u-haul trailer full of my stuff across 2 states and over the mountains to the coast.
Gas all day long, nothing compares to enjoying what you built with your own hands and then hearing it scream!

I have both, a Fully Built Turbo LS VTEC CRX and a Tesla daily driver and I love them both for different reasons. Tesla for that insta torque and top end that doesn't quit, but there's nothing like building a mechanical motor from the ground up, tuning it and gaining the skill it takes to consistently bang gears. Plus the noise the vibration the smell of race gas. All of that are things electric will never replace. But I respect them both and love to go fast. If ai have to chose 1 Team Gas
For your amusement.. ALL, but 1, Nürburgring Tesla lap record is beaten by various years of bone stock Honda Civic Type R. The 1 it doesn't beat is obviously the Tesla Plaid that gets beaten by a bone stock Audi RS3 weighing in at 3461.3 lbs with 400 hp being roughly 8.65325 lbs per hp. Even if your CRX engine was stock internals bottom end the turbo is good for 400 hp and with the weight savings could easily smoke a Tesla Plaid on the benchmark Nürburgring.
@@Cerberus984hrmmm, well your wrong about the crx stock engine are d16. They give out stock somewhere around 200hp. If you had said a crx with a K swap, then Im with you on that, people habe done over 650 on stock K series.

As much as I enjoy technology, including EVs, I still enjoy that mechanical connection when driving an ICE-powered car, especially one equipped with a manual transmission. I don't ever get tired of driving my Ford Focus ST. There is also the benefit of modifications, tunning, from different suppliers, etc.
I had a zx3 5-speed. Fun to drive but my Kia Soul is faster. That was the only car I ever bought mods for.
Can we just appreciate what Elon has accomplished with the Tesla. $80k car busting half a millie super cars. 🤷♂️
I'm with ya. I'm surely a motor head. More specifically a rotor head, but man. All of those cars had to be highly modified to do what the tesla does out the gate. I wouldn't ever buy one, and I hate Tesla for introducing the Cars as a Service ideology to the market, but they definitely put together a quick car.

Man those EVs are really quick off the starting line. Once you hit second or third gear on most of these cars though….
Yes, immediate torque. However, don't forget they are also AWD. Many ICE cars would have MUCH faster acceleration if they were AWD (naturally, this doesn't really apply to rolling starts as much)
DYno runs of HP and torque across speed shows HP and Torque drop off on Tesla after 60-70 MPH.
The electric motor can no longer spin faster.

The tesla plaid nurburging time was very telling; the tesla plaid with over 1000hp was only 3% faster than a civic type r with 315hp. A built out 90s civic is significantly faster than a new civic in both the corners and straights. Non professional drivers consistently get 7:18s (over 12 seconds faster than the plaid) in their 90s supras with a hair over 700hp. Civics in my town think they drop the muffler and suddenly they are fast. Now I see where they got that idea😂
Is your town a time capsule stuck in 1980 or something? Lol
So the future is 1999 in your eyes
Agree.

@@Drac_xiii …. The mods won’t mean crap to the EV’s unless the improve the battery life and performance. That will always be the limiting factor.
