    This is a really nice all in one cooker and I like the sneak a peek lid because you don't have to stop and pull out a basket like a regular air fryer. Just the fact that you can pressure cook the chicken then brown it all in one pot then remove it and cook your sides in it in air fryer mode is saving a ton of time and also clean up too! If this came in an 8 quart version it would be a Home Run! Hey Doug how about trying some homemade Mac N Cheese in it and finishing it off with the browning on top in air fryer mode. Great Video and I'm all in on watching your next one with this cool machine!!!

    I just received my Ninja Foodi from Walmart yesterday, and I'm impressed by the practical layout of the manual and how the recipe suggestions in the mini-cookbook are geared to North American tastes. I see that roasting ("TenderCrisp" cooking, actually) a whole chicken seems to be the first thing the folks at Ninja want new users to try (after the "never before used a pressure cooker" water test), and I plan to try cooking a whole chicken in my new Foodie this weekend. If the weather stays cool in Illinois next week, perhaps I can try the chili with cornbread baked on top next week!

    To kick it up a notch. B4 doing chicken use apple juice peppercorns and some herbs whole. Whatever you want. But whatever you use will be what the inside of chicken will taste like. And vegetables add some lemon sliced on top of veggies.

    Hey Doug, thanks for this vid. I am going to get an 8qt Foodi as soon as they become available on the Ninja site. I am wondering if it is a good idea to get rid of the water in the pot when switching from pressure cooking to broil so the food does not steam from the water/broth on the bottom in broil mode?

    • @laurenandreas5950
      @laurenandreas5950 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Shameka Moon Jr you need some kind of liquid in the pot if your pc. If add seasoning to the liquid it forces the flavor in the meal.

    What was the total cooking time, including waiting for the Foodi to come up to pressure for the pressure-cooking portion of the cook time? I really like how my Bundt pan works as a vertical roaster for chicken -- but it takes 1 1/2-2 hours for it to cook through. A quicker method of producing juicy yet perfectly browned chicken would be most welcome!

    How do you clean whole machine after using? Loved you used thermometer after cooking chicken. Best to use thermometer with all foods completed in machine; especially meats,poultry and fish. Do not want to possibly end up with ecoli , salmonella or any other bacteria problem from improper. internal temperature after. cooked. Thank you for providing thorough proper instructional information in reviewing this product . God bless you, Tamson

      What did you use for time on the Pressure and then on the Air Fry

  • @DOSBoxMom
    @DOSBoxMom 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    It looks like you gave the chicken slightly more time crisping than the Foodi instructions call for (so I'll try to remember that when I'm cooking chicken in my Foodi). I also like how you were able to cook vegetables for a side dish in the Foodi while the chicken was resting. Did the veggies infuse with some flavor from the chicken juices which had dripped down into the main bowl under the crisper basket?

    • @COOKINGWITHDOUG
      @COOKINGWITHDOUG  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well I dont look at instructions...been air frying and pressure cooking for over 2 years...but yeah if your just starting out plz read your manual :)

    • @DOSBoxMom
      @DOSBoxMom 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      COOKINGWITHDOUG I've made ribs in my Instant Pot several times (different method than the one in the Foodi manual), but haven't cooked much else in it so far, so I will definitely be making use of the Foodi manual, esp. for anything involving the crisping lid, as I have never air-fryed before.

    Making a whole chicken tonight! I finally got some liquid smoke so I'm interested to see how that tastes even though it's not touching the chicken... I'm also on the Keto diet so I found some sugar-free sauces by G Hughes (in Carolina) the teriyaki is good. My chicken is 5+ lbs so I upped the pressure time to 28 because I want it well done, then I'll try 12 mins on crisp. I wonder about the actual roasting feature and if anyone has tried it. I'm not always thrilled about chicken breast in the Foodi, it's never as tender as a slow cook in the oven but if I can roast in the Foodi that would be great! Ok thanks for sharing, love the pic of you & your son.

      I think that’s to prevent accidents. Was watching another TH-camr demoing the emeril pressure cook/air fryer (detachable) and it almost slipped out of her hand. Imagine the burns someone would receive touching the heat element
