This is a sad one - but still has Slim's genuine touch! It gets me every time! I hope you all enjoy this one, as much as I do. Cheers! R.I.P. Slim Dusty
One of my favourite Slim songs. Mack certainly was a wonderful wordsmith. When I lived in a shearers quarters up near the queensland border, many many miles inland, I would play this on the record player and look out over the flat Mitchell grass plains for a long long way at night under a full moon. Gidgee trees threw moon shadows and with the noises of the bush Slim's words were just so appropriate. This song takes me back to a different era in my life, a simpler time of no particular worries and never lonely in the still of the bush.
Please Brian could you send me the lyrics of this beautiful song, because I can't grab all words. My email address is: tkhomavic@gmail.com Many thanks Best regards Slio Butros
This takes me back. As a kid, I used to lay in bed on my grandparents farm staring out the window at the the moonlit fields & bushland and let my imagination wonder. This song reminds me of those times. Thanks again Ol'mate!
Thank you for this beautiful comment. Could you please send me the lyrics of this song? Thank you any way. My email: tkhomavic@gmail.com Regards Slio Butros
I Very Much Enjoy the songs written and sung, or just sung by Slim Dusty. I didn't discover his music till a couple years ago or so. God has sure Blessed me through his music. I drive a school bus now, which is a Blessing as well. And I can't compare the Tractor-Trailer driving I did through the years to what Slim sings about, but I sure enjoy hearing about the lives whom he sings of.
This was my great pops song we used to sing this together butt now it's all memories because his not with us any more but I made sure this was played at his funeral for great memories too come
Discovered slim looking for truck driving music and have found many great songs about Australia and just made me fall in love with the country even more the way he paints a picture with his words is truly amazing..... someday I'll get to finally see the place I feel is home for the first time
SlimDustyMusic - Thanks for posting these great Slim Dusty songs as you have. But I'm wondering, do you have one by him when he he sings about an old aboriginal warrior who's the last of his tribe? I had it on a CD, but now can't find the CD. I'd be gratedul if you have this on because can't find it anywhere on YT. No knowing its name doesn't help either. Thanks in advance...
