I grew up with the Thornton family in Junee and spent a lot of time with Barry's brother Jeff and his wife Marlene Baz was a lot older than me so I never new him personally but seen him on odd occasions as he used to visit Jeff on my dads farm when he was in town, Always have been a fan of Baz and Slim I suppose all the old country music
Had a beer or two with this lovely fella, still got the album autographed by him & son Brian, 1982 in Roma, Qld.
A few of the country's best c and w guitarists. Great tune too.
Three Aussie guitar legends together - wow........and playing, what many consider, one of Australia's finest bush ballads.
I saw Alisha Smith up at the Widgee Muster in Queensland a few weeks ago....she played a number of Bazza's hits .....she nails his style perfectly..... the crowd loved it.
I called into Tamworth on the way home and I gave your bronze statue a pat on the back.
RIP Bazza....you are sadly missed....

I have idolised this man ever since I was a boy.....at Slim Dusty concerts there was only one person on stage.......Barry Thornton.
Barry Thornton - just a magical guitar player - love to listen to him - I did meet him many years ago, with Slim, from memory 1962 in Wagga.
Knew Barry thorton since i was much more then a kid.love u Bazza ole mate.nobody can pick em ole guitars like u ole mate.
We drummers find ourselves in some very sweet and magical places sometimes - BIG Hi to Donal Baylor - Vic Lanyon - Peter Grech ( MD ) - a delightful pianist (whose name has slipped ) - soundman mixer mentor and mind invader Dave Byrnes and Mr Mark Atkins generating comfortable and melodious didge-ridoo. And that was just one stellar performance during a night where the audience were drawn to the stage - and the room became one.

Can someone ask these guys to provide guitar lessons on the good old country songs of Australia, we would NOT get these songs anywhere else. They can provide the old country songs not what we hear today, not country, Please if any of the guys just happen to stumble upon this note please consider providing guitar lessons on how to play guiltar for old country songs soon to be forgotten. Guitar Lessons from the country greatest guitar player. Mr Barry Thornton . Paying guitar lessons, people can pay by Pay Pal or other.
