Love this cam....Just got it a week ago. Added it to my kit with the Insta360 x4 and x3. Started selling off my Nikon gear a few months ago. I was hesitant when Pocket 3 came out. I thought it would be to fragile. Handling the 360 camera alleviated that concern. I wish Pocket 3 would allow a longer exposure but it's low light capabilities are more than adequate.

I completely agree with the needing a longer exposure time! I wonder if that’s something they could do with a firmware update 🤔 that would be cool. I catch myself using this camera more than my Canon R8 now

Indeed, I thought that it would be fragile as well. For this reason, I bought the insurance from dji with it. In my opinion, the osmo pocket 3 is valuable because of convenience. It is small enough to be accessible easily, and it's quick startup means that it's easy to be out and shooting in seconds. As a hiker, what comes to mind is my hydration bladder. I use to be in boy scouts and the army, In both of those situations, I was use to carrying for situations that i might encounter. This includes a hydration bladder filled with more water than I should carry.
The convenience of the hydration bladder is not really such. It seems like it's the best choice, but on long hikes I find that I do not fill up my hydration bladder as often as I should (and drinking less than I should) because it is inconvenient to take off the pack and then fish out the hydration bladder to where I can fill it up. Sure, it's convenient when there's water in there and I can just sip. Sure that nice big digital camera is nice, but then reality sets in.
Now many of us carry SmartWater bottles or similar brands, something that is right on hand, easy to access, easy to refill, and no big hassle. With a hydration bladder you get this funky taste from the hose, and you have to clean it out and let it dry. If your water bottle gets too nasty to be cleaned, a new water bottle is available for cheap at almost every store.
I think the Osmo Pocket 3 is more like the water bottle, a bit closer to how a camera should be - Easily incorporated into our lives

That was awesome! The images (obviously with some post) looked stunning. I have just bought the pocket 3, action 3 and the mini 4 pro. Unfortunately still learning all the settings. Thanks for the insight and I’ll definitely be following your channel

have you tried the 2-in-1 K&F ND Filter 2-32 with the 1/4 black mist filter? amazon has it and its similar price to just the 2-32 ND filter, so I'm considering getting the 2-in1 version

@@thebackyardtourist214 yt doesn't allow to share but it's in the UK site, do you think the filter at 1/4 is worth especially if it's a 2 in 1 with ND?

@@vgplay4850 I haven't seen too many black mist filters that have gotten me too excited. But I am happy to venture out and test them out. I'll do some research and try it out! stick around

I don’t know, (V)ND is almost a must if you want to follow 180 degrees shutter rule. But black mist? I believe you have to be _very_ intentional with black mist, it is needed maybe in 5-10% of shoots, otherwise you just end up with ugly looking blooms and low contrast image, why would you want this?
I’m also not sure about 1/4, 1/8 should be more universal IMO

@@victor.ivanov This! I am not a fan of the black mist filters. I can't see any reason I would ever use them? I have seen some folks use them at night with neon lights that looks ok but still not my style. thanks for watching!

I'm having a hell of a time getting solid focus on mine. Might need a firmware update or something.

Have you tried the "single" focus function in manual mode. I was having the same issue with a lot of hunting but switched it to single focus and it works just fine! let me know if it works or not and I will probably make a video on this

I bought the P3 for stills photography and so far I’m very impressed. But not keen on the raw files. Can’t seem to process them as well as the sooc JPEG’s. But editing the jpegs in Snapseed have given me what I consider impressive results. And obviously the gimbal means I can hold at any angle and keep horizon level. 👍🏻

which specific nd filter should I get?

    • @thebackyardtourist214
      @thebackyardtourist214  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I use the K&F variable ND filters. It only comes with two but up to nine stops so plenty of versatility. Also, they fit in the hard case the camera goes in so it’s win win. There is a link in this video if you’re interest

ND Filters seem useful, but I don't know enough about them yet. It would be nice to learn enough about them, to be able to use them with confidence. When you discuss ND filters, do you think you could discuss what setting approximately it's on?
