Jack Wagner usually voiced Mickey and Friends until 1988 when Disney Character Voices Inc. was formed and the voice actors Wayne Allwine, Russi Taylor, Tony Anselmo, and Bill Farmer were cast as them.
Glad that you mentioned the Ducktales episode, even if in passing. Russi Taylor got to voice a child aged Donald in the style of the original triplets from the original series, and it was one of her last roles (she died before that version of the character returned a season or so later). I get the feeling Disney had a mandate that they couldn't use the real characters, especially with "Jimminy" turning into a Wendigo and all. Another great nod to classic Duck-lore from those showrunners. Kind of reminds me of a much nicer version of what American Dad did with A Christmas Carol. Exploiting the Ghost of Christmas Past to get rid of Jane Fonda, only to prevent Martin Scorsese from making a certain film with Jodie Foster. One of my favorite deviations from the Christmas Carol formula. Hey. Ever think of doing the Pepper Ann episode "A Valentines Day Tune?"
I think it had more to do with the fact that willie as Christmas present would have broken the shows self-imposed “no humans or human looking” characters rule. And if you can’t use one of them might as well change all of them.
It kinda makes sense for Scrooge to invite himself over. I see him do it often in the dutch Donald Duck magazine comics. Usually because eating somewhere else is free.
The stage sets look terrific! All the characters look really cool too! The story does sound pretty cheesy though. Thank you for your report on this obscure Disneyland Christmas show. I love any good story with Donald Duck, Uncle Scrooge and the nephews. Truly a wonderful edition to your Christmas Carol adaptations review series! I would love to look this one up online!
Great history for Disney versions of A Christmas Carol and according to villains, Frollo is the best example of Ebenezer Scrooge because he is so greedy and when Quasimodo tried to beg him to be nice, he turned around a gave him the most grumpy look a villain can make towards the heroe.
Actually, the Floridian Sparkling Christmas Spectacular premiered in 1984 or 85 and there was no magic box or piggy bank in the end and Scrooge is still all humbugish and invades Santa Goofy's sleigh and everyone is like " YAY! Scrooge is happy!". Like, he literally says, "BAH! I don't care about Christmas!"! Not to mention, the transitions are strange. It wasn't until 1992 or 93 that the piggy bank was added.
Thank you for the correction. I'm not surprised the show went through revisions over the years. There are at least three versions of the Minnie's Country Christmas show I covered a while ago. I guess I just watched the later 90's variation.
I never heard of the Magic Kingdom Yuletide Special before, but I definitely saw Mickey's Nutcracker on TV multiple times as a kid. I still can't help hearing some of those lyrics in my head when I hear the Nutcracker music. XD
I've never heard of this special before. Thanks for the upload. I'm gonna try looking for this. One Christmas Carol to look at is Bugs Bunny's Christmas Carol. P.S. Bravo to the ending👏 👏
Kind of fitting how it does have that feeling of being both a live action Disney Sing-Along tapes, mixed with a live stage show. Plus it now makes it 10 adaptations done by Disney. Some that were made before the short, even a few that had Scrooge McDuck in the role before the short. All you've got left to do of the Disney adaptations is the Robert Zemeckis and Jim Carey version and you'll check all the boxes of the major 3.
Hey Colin i don't know if you listen podcasts one i recommended is called Dis-oder wear three disney watch every Walt Disney Animation Studios in order plus more theirs lots of great trivia in it and can't what for The Black Cauldron episode
See, this is why I love this channel, if Colin can find an excuse to talk about something obscure, he will. It's a lot like me and obscure Mario or Nintendo trivia.
I just love Mickey's Christmas Carol so much. My mom and dad taped it off the tv with a bunch of other Disney Christmas specials I watched it much I wore out my tape, so that should tell you how much I loveit. That ending by the way, genius🤣
The magic kingdom Yuletide special started as sparkling Christmas spectacular in 1982 the next year the show was taken to Disneyland as the magic of Christmas.
Scrouge: The best day of the year is Pay Day! Goofy: Uh, but aren't you the boss? You'd have to be paying! That is a good point, considering Scrouge's greed.
Wait a minute, New Dream Disney Christmas Carol Collection; A Muppet Christmas Carol and A Magic Kingdom Yuletide Special in VHS, Mickey's Magical Christmas; Snowed In at the House of Mouse and A Christmas Carol in DVD-Videos, Winnie the Pooh; Springtime with Roo and Marley in Blu-Rays, and Disney Christmas Carol Books.
There's a lot of Thanksgiving stuff but a lot of it is obscure with only three Thanksgiving movies/specials being popular ("Planes, Trains and Automobiles", "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" and that Macy parade.
There's an episode of Underdog where Simon goes back in time to stop the first Thanksgiving because the Parade got in the way of whatever scheme he was hatching. That's something, right?
@@nicholassims9837 There's a Will Vinton Claymation one everyone forgot about. And of course the Berenstain Bears Easter Surprise and that Peanuts one where Peppermint Patty goes nuts because Marcie's somehow a non-functioning idiot when it comes to cooking eggs.
You forgot the Book and record that Disney did a decade before Mickeys Christmas Carol and was similar except the Ghost of Christmas Past was played by Merlin from Sword in the Stone and the Ghost of Christmas Future was played by the witch from Snow White.
So if your Villain retrospective does cover tv shows not based on a film how would Star vs the forces of evil be handled as by season 3 and 4 many of the heroic characters do very very questionable things
Disney needs to go back to making live shows and TV specials featuring the costumed characters like this. A lot of more recent Disney park shows and parades seem to put style over substance.
@@carminecdinoproductions And also make sure they use ALL of the characters like they did in the past, not just the “popular” ones! Two of those scrooge songs are still used in the christmas fantasy parade at disneyland today

Netflix is releasing a New Christmas Carol movie

Fantastic ending 👌
LOL
That would be an interesting twist ! 🤣
Barnette Ricci was featured in a TV special on the old-school Disney Channel that features a behind-the-scenes look at the Electrical Parade.
Every franchise does a christmas carol eventually
It's like it's etched in our DNA
This channel is a very specific comfort zone for me

5:19 what dystopia are Mickey & friends living in where they only get paid once a year?
Their Luxurious mansions of course! Walt Disney McDuckass Fortune gives his money to all of Mickey's friends after his death.

Pete or The Beagle Boys

Do you have any plans of doing a Villain Retrospective on Bill Sykes from Oliver & Company?
I'm assuming he does, as he's going through all the animated films.
I'm thinking Scrooge likes payday because it's when his debtors have the money to make their payments to him
Why didn’t they get Alan Young?
