bypassing HDCP is potentially very useful for streamers, or people who use a capture card, because instead of requiring a TV with HDCP, you can just let this box act as the TV and bypass the HDCP. very useful for things like the PS3 or PS4

I’ve always turned on tv, receiver than Mac mini in that order and never had issues and the sound playing music is perfect playing through Bose speakers 7.1 surround

I have been looking for something like this! One of the monitors on my desktop is hooked up via a HDMI switch to my PC, 2 raspberry PIs and a Mister DE10. Whenever I would switch to an input that isnt my PC windows would detect the monitor had disappeared and move all the open windows on that monitor to one of the other screens. This was very annoying! I saw your video, and wondered if that would solve my issue too - and it has done! I can switch inputs on the HDMI switch, and all my windows stay put. Thank you for bringing this to my attention!

Hello I have a question: does the audio come out both optical and hdmi out are the same time or is it stripped from the latter? Thanks

I am thinking that the AV receiver is the issue not the tv. Try your not working experiment again but have the AV receiver on first, then the Mac, then TV. I believe that the Mac is handshaking with the Av receiver. Then the AV receiver handshakes with the TV. You may not need to have the AV receiver turned on, but instead in standby mode.

    • @camerongray1515
      @camerongray1515  3 ปีที่แล้ว

It may well be the receiver, although during my testing the receiver is in standby mode whenever I'm turning the Mac Mini on so I'd probably still at least need to turn the receiver on which still isn't ideal.

All my 7.2 ATMOS AVR's have bricked out on me ONYKO, Denon... Bought a SONY and sent it back immediately, what a horrid piece of gear, would not even Pass Through 4K at 60hz! So all I have is this little Pyle Audio PFA540BT old tech 5.1 mini AVR... But all it passes is 1080p. I just bought the EZCO SP12H2 4K splitter in hopes I can send my 4K HDMI signal to my 4K TV and send the other split HDMI to this little Pyle 5.1 AVR so I can at least get 5.1 Audio. Do I have the correct EZCO product?

I wonder if this will fix my PC to portable monitor problem because my portable monitor has extra things in to make it work with phones and other stuff and when I plug my PC in it doesn't work and shows "no signal powering off" but it works with my phone and laptop just not my pc.

I almost bought something like this but it was a way more expensive one. nice to know about this. Problem was when I turn on/off my TV or AVR it would simulate disconnecting and reconnecting the HDMI cable multiple times and rapidly, also the EDID would change depending on if the AVR was powered up or not. All that would crash the nvidia card I had in my HTPC. I ended up just going back to the intel integrated since I wasn't using NVENC anymore anyway and it's fine now.

Will chance that the small Feintech repeater didn't work because it is not externally powered. Voltage drop is a real thing.

This definitely seems likely, it has an LED that was flickering while I was using it, this was also an issue using a really short cable so I suppose it may be down to the current available from my receiver's outputs.

I’m confused as to which setting I need . I have Xbox series x on a 4K tv trying to set this up for my Astro a50s. I don’t know what hdr setting to use with the switch thing. Any help would be great

Switch on 3 and 4 and you will get Dolby Vision, HDR and 4K, on the Xbox go to audio and turn Dolby Digital .

You can use it if you want to force 120hz from the laptop to the tv, this adapter allow you to make it pass 4k, HDR, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and 120 hz to any hdmi input.

An update on my use case. Unfortunately EZCOO HDR EDID modes don't signal HLG support - so you can't use anything other than EDID COPY to get Sky Q HLG HDR output. Any of the forced HDR EDID modes don't work. (You get an error message from the Sky Q box when you try to play). (I've started an email chain with EZCOO support - as not flagging one of the two main HDR standards in Rec 2100, when you advertise HDR support, is a bit poor these days)

  • @beer_goggler

Does the copy EDID mode survive power cycle of the EZCOO device? ie does it remember the EDID it copied.

It can also "strip out" HDCP, with first dip to on, what does that actually mean, isnt it removing copyright, how is that possible? is this needed to spdif to work? because extracting audio from hdmi shouldn't work with working HDCP.

You never need to hard power cycle a mac. Just use the keyboard to restart. command + control + diskeject key. Problem is if you don't have a keyboard with the diskeject key.
