    Who would have ever thought that 50 years ago you'd be murdered in a church in the years to come? The world has gone mad. You're as likely to be murdered in Walmart, in a movie house, in an outdoor music concert, in a high school or so despicable... even in a grammar school. A person was shot in the supermarket I frequent just a month ago and the gunman got away. I'm convinced this world will not make it out alive to the next decade.

    As a church security guy, my biggest 'fear' is someone attacking our pastor during the invitation time. Everyone and anyone has free reign/intimate access to the pastor and at those close ranges, if something were to go down it would be too late before I could get there, even with me sitting on the front two rows.
    And as much as I want to see new people in the building, I am relieved every Sunday when all I see are familiar faces....not saying any of them aren't capable of violence....but yeah.

    Q. Why would you not secure the perimeter and body/bag search before the patron comes into the church? What about moving the chairs around creating an obstacle course, making it harder for a direct attack on the pastor talking at the front, if chairs are in the way it makes it harder to reach the front quickly.

    • @roadkillsarge
      @roadkillsarge  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's your discretion. These are just scenarios that we ran. This specific church had parking lot security and indoor. Chairs are fixed to the ground. Searches are case by case basis. That's at their discretion.

    I have been part of my church’s safety ministry for a few years now. We get regular training on deescalation, getting disruptive people out of the pews, administration of narcan, weather and medical emergencies, etc. One thing we have not done is these types of scenarios involving a person who means to do harm during service with everyone knowing their roles based on their strengths. Do you have any information on trainers or personnel that can set up training in this way for my group in Wisconsin? If so please reply and we can some contact info.

    How many rounds does your team get down range monthly on moving targets? I saw a report on a police department that had multiple shooting events and their accuracy was below 30%. In a close setting not getting your round on target could be disastrous. I was just curious how you handle live round training.

    • @roadkillsarge
      @roadkillsarge  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We try for every other month range days. I, as the security team leader, shoot twice or more a month. We have an alloted amount of ammo, and a range membership for the team, to allow us to shoot whenever we'd like. But right now, 50rds a month is the norm. We're always trying to push more, but on a 100% volunteer based ministry, some people just don't have the time.

    I'm wondering, do you only allow cops, ex-cops or ex-military to be part of a church security team? Also, once an active shooter becomes active inside the sanctuary, and the people get up and begin to move about, how do you control that? And what happens if bad guys are also waiting outside the church with long guns? The sheep are then funneled into a kill zone. I've been asking other subject matter creators who post this type of material. Christian Warrior being one of them, and he's good. Our church has a team, but meeting the person running it, he wouldn't add me to their team since I'm not a cop, ex-cop or ex-military. I have a carry conceal, they know that. In a one in a million situation, to be forced to engage if I'm the closest to a shooter, I don't want to be shot in the back and it's a real concern but I'm not gonna sit back and watch someone unload on the congregation. I have a ton of experience, executive protection, CQB, allot of live fire training which I really enjoy but I really can't say for whom and where and of course first aid, I have an enhanced KSK with tons of good stuff. I'm a sheep dog, and that's all I am. And from what I can see, my church has some pretty significant gaps from the parking lot, lighting, etc. to once the attacker(s) enters the church, the children's class rooms are not were they need to be and I can go on.

    • @roadkillsarge
      @roadkillsarge  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Lots of stuff here....
      We do allow cops, ex-military, and similar backgrounds on the team. The OLD belief was "they would go to far, due to their backgrounds". But it's absolutely necessary nowadays, and they have insider info that's useful to us.

    Every church needs to be prepared for some nut that wants to inflict harm to the Pastors or congregation. Especially churches that do not compromise on the Word. As we know, the Word is especially offensive to those that reject it. Hopefully it will never happen, but a shooter will meet his maker sooner than he had planned if he comes to our church. There are dozens of people armed every Sunday at my church. Not only CC people but security and off duty officers as well.

    I’ll continue to just conceal myself. The church my wife and I go to they have a security guy who “conceals in his smedium shirt and prints like crazy. If I was a shooter he’d be the first to go. If you’re going to do it right, everyone who comes to church gets frisked and no one being allowed to carry unless they’re part of the security team. If they don’t like it, go to service somewhere else. You’ll make these scenarios 10x more easier. That one guy shouldn’t have even made it past the lobby. There’s kids that go to church, stop worrying about offending people and be straight. “Sir, our policy is you get frisked once you enter the building, if they act sketchy and have an issue with it, ask them to leave. These are dangerous times and there’s no room for screw ups. Assert right away and you’ll know whose a danger and whose not. I’m sorry, but profiling works. As a paramedic if I go to a trailer park for a 30 year old unresponsive I’m going to assume by the age and the way they live if it’s an overdose or another medical emergency. 90% of the time I’ve been right on my diagnosis’s by “profiling” same applies to any scenario.
    Hate to break it to everyone, but unless you’re frisking everyone that comes to church you’re never going to know who Carry’s. And I’m not trusting “church security” to the safety of myself and wife. I respect the idea, and maybe others feel safe with it, but as for me I’ll be the protector of my wife and 6 month old.

    • @markbraunschweig5227

      So your answer is to infringe on everyone's right to carry so they can worship with you, while you say you'll continue to conceal carry? Good luck with that.

    • @gunlover5564
      @gunlover5564 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@markbraunschweig5227 And if church security frisked me and said I wasn’t allowed to carry unless I wanted to take initiative to join their security team I would respect it or go somewhere else. You’re not entitled at church. Your “rights” don’t apply. You’re not a government agency so it’s not your job to worry about someone’s rights. It’s the same with private businesses if they want firearms in their stores.
      And yeah I will carry because security lacks until it’s too late and this video shows it.
      But you keep running your scenarios and allow them to come into a place of worship where kids are at not knowing their true motives. If they’re truly there to worship they won’t give you a problem, right?. You’re security for a reason, you should know who Carry’s if you’re too scared or too lazy to take initiative to find that out then that’s your lacking. Which is why I won’t place the security of my family to wanna be security guys. Nobody takes initiative to know if I carry so I’ll continue to do so because their security check points are already flawed.
      Best of luck!

      @@gunlover5564 I was on a security team for several years. We trained at the range and you were not getting on the team until you proved yourself on the range. That being said, we also knew that if a bad person wants to do harm, there is only so much you are gonna be able to do until the threat is neutralized. That is a fact. We also made it our business to know all the people well, know who was carrying and so on. We had training scenarios and worked with the church on how to react in a live shooter scenario. That includes telling those that aren't on the security team to keep their weapon holstered unless necessary. In your fantasy world, I frisk someone, they take their weapon back to the car, then when church lets out if a nut case is in the parking lot with a gun...he/she and their family are screwed. Keep living in your paranoid/pissed at inept security you're unwilling to join/fantasy world. You call yourself a gun lover, but want to disarm law abiding citizens on the way in to church?

      @@markbraunschweig5227 if you have a successful security team and do what needs to be done the people coming to church should not have to worry about carrying for an hour or 2. Once again, sounds like you can’t guarantee people’s safety and that’s your problem. I do love firearms, but I’m also not entitled.
      It’s the same with a business. If I own the business I will carry because it’s MY business and if I don’t want complete strangers carrying that’s my right to deny that into my store.
      We’re not talking about an out in town public setting, we’re talking about a place of worship where people get found as easy targets. You want to eliminate and keep a safe environment. Only the people you know and trust carry. People can respect that or go somewhere else. No one is forcing them to go to that certain church.
      You’re not a government official, you have no duty to respect a visitors right to carry, only the right to worship and have EVERY right to deny entry to those who don’t follow the churches rules.
      I worked at a gun store for 6 years my guy. I’ve seen how stupid and careless people are and if shit happens I wouldn’t want every untrained weirdo with a gun popping rounds off in the store or church and taking the risk of my kid or someone else’s kids getting hit because every weirdo wants to be a hero. That is the EXACT reason why you even form security teams to organize and prevent this.
      “Oh yeah… well… well… we’re security, but were just gonna let every weirdo carry in the church because we don’t want to hurt feelings. Why are you even playing the role of security then dude if you have no set rules and standards? Lmao

      @@markbraunschweig5227 and to your comment of them going back to there car and waiting for Church to let out before they do anything, why don’t you have people walking the parking lot as people leave? Make a mental note and know what car they got into and keep a BOLO on church property for that car and Individual till church lets out.
      It’s honestly not rocket science.
      And I hate to break it to you, but if I came into your church you’re not going to know I’m carrying unless you ask me or want to frisk me. I’d bypass your security detail the same that I’ve done at other churches because the simple fact there is no pro active guards that frisk or ask the uncomfortable questions. Which is why I continue to carry. I won’t trust my life and the life of my family to such unorganized security teams.

      Good thinking. Criminals never prey upon the weak and unarmed. The more helpless you are, the safer you become!
