  • Hey everyone welcome back to another video! Today I am super excited were taking a look at a Class C ToyHauler! This is the 2021 Thor Outlaw 29J! I am so excited because here in Ocala we just picked up this line and I am so excited because it has to be one of the most requested RVs out there! What is so cool about this motorhome is that it is a toyhauler 1 but not only that there is double sofas in here. I love this I wish more manufacturers did this instead of sofa and dinettes.

Hi Matt and Andrea, My husband and I saw this model in person weekend before last, its a pretty cool MC.
    Likes:
    1. Garage and back patio was amazing! Love that the bed can lift out of the way, so the garage space can be used for a variety of uses. Also, the walled patio is close enough to the floor so most small dogs can’t escape.
    2. Spacious living and kitchen areas in spite of the large garage. Nice balance of space.
    3. The overall floor plan felt much larger than a 31’ MC.
    Dislikes:
    1. We saw a different decor (more residential). I don’t care for the color or patterns of this one, mostly the kitchen counter, this pattern looks cheap compared to the white one.
    2. Raised toilet, Im 5’3” and it was troublesome for me. We also like to add a composting toilet and the lifted floor would be a problem. *The rest of the bathroom was really nice and well appointed for toiletries.
We spent over an hour looking at this MC. Overall, we were quite impressed with the size and versatility of this coach for the price. We could easily see customizing this for our solo couple +two small dogs vacationing needs. Note: We thought the two closets could be used as a pantry and linen closet, then add a travel/hanging wardrobe In the garage would turn ample storage into amazing storage.

No dislikes for me. This is my favorite class C toy hauler. Although, I’m not really a fan of jack knife sofas. Now, if Thor offered some kind of 3 or 4 season doors for that party patio, it would be perfect. This way, you don’t have keep raising and lowering the patio the whole time you’re camping and can keep the whole rv cool.

Great review. I like the concept of the Toy hauler but I would like it to be a different option for those that don't want to use the space for toys. I like this model for the patio an actually not so much for bringing toys. Most RVers have dogs an the patio allows more space to layout with them. I don't want to give up the bedroom especially if traveling for a long trips. I know Thor is innovative and can offer more options to its customers. Thanks Matt & Andrea :)

EmilFerr77 There should be a sticker near the bottom of the passenger door on all these with Overall cargo capacity. Each one seems different. But they are between 1850-2000 lbs on the 29j. This, exactly. The E-450 can only carry so much. With all the extras features they’ve crammed in, it’s already marginal BEFORE you figure in the garage part.

      @russfoggan4092 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

@@spidergawd68 The 1000lbs capacity is for the garage only and not the whole RV, still on the low end but more than enough for most to be honest, 3 to 4 dirt bikes, 3 road race bikes, those and the kit for the weekend, Harley's are over weight but you could get two his n her Harleys in there, nice rubber floor so the oil cleans up easy also when they leak also!

My outlaw show 1500 for the garage, 1800 for the deck, 2000lb as a ramp. There is a sticker on the passenger door of all the class c’s that should give the actual over all capacity. Even that will be different than the GVWR. There is alot of playroom here. Dont fill the fresh water tank up, that alone save 330lbs

Good Afternoon RV Review Crew! And Matt, WHERE IS MY GRIP6 BELT! I emailed twice! FUNSTAR!
Hey Matt, your descriptions lists this motorhome with the V10, it’s a V8 right?
Hi RVRC, I’m SUPER EXCITED to offer some comments on the 2021 Thor Outlaw 29J Class-C Toy-hauler Motorhome! I’ve been absent from writing RV review comments for a week or so, just settling in to my 2nd week of retirement! And no more root canal issues!
This is a very interesting coach with many terrific features, a good size, and looks like it could be a big hit! At about $100,000 there are a lot of great ideas packed in here.
    In this coach I like:
+Slide in access to coach is great
+Black sofas and cab seats with red stitching is great, I know Andrea was not a fan of the valences, but that splash of red gives the pattern a western look which I think is SHARP!
+The floor and fridge are great, AND the flip up counter extension in the galley flips up level with the main countertop vs. being below it - NICE DETAIL!
+Good use of the window AC unit in the MBR/garage area, I’ve not seen this before
+CAPS on top of the pedestal table mounts in the floor is a nice feature to keep dirt and debris out of the mountings - I have not seen this before but like that little feature. I suggest Thor include 2x as many covers as there are mounting holes as some will get lost!
+Oven drawer PSYCH! That was funny. Not sure this is a necessary feature, but it doesn’t take anything away from the décor
Now for things that I did not care for, or I have questions about:
    - This is minor; but there is little cabinet storage in the garage/MBR area. Any way to put in a little more?
-Is the garage capacity, 1000 pounds, in addition to the Cargo Capacity of the coach (1700+/-)? Or if you put 1000 pounds in the garage does that only leave 700 pounds for crew and personal gear? I assume it’s “in addition to the 1700”, but if not, this unlike is more applicable
-Again, very minor, but the doggie hook ups are cabinet pulls? You couldn’t do nicer than that? They look like an afterthought
-The TV placement isn’t optimal, but I could make it work!
    Finally:
This is an interesting coach with a lot of features packed in to a 29-foot motorhome. I hope it does well!

Now *THAT'S* an interesting motor home! The price is right, the length is perfect, the twin sofa set-up is sweet, and it has a fairly spacious bathroom. Would like to have seen them build it on the F550 chassis, because it's little light on the cargo carrying capacity, but it still checks a lot of boxes; the biggest of which is that it is fully usable with the slide in. Another ding is that they should have put the TV on a swivel / extension, but that's an easy fix.

Likes: I love the toy-hauler/patio part (but wish the tailgate was motorized or at least had a pulley-system for us bad back people). I like the color-scheme except for the wood cabinets (I'd have to paint them). But the counter-top, couches, chairs, valances and pillows...two thumbs up. It has personality. I like the big awning. And I like the V8 engine. Dislikes: There seems to be a shortage of storage inside and outside with cabinets and drawers not being very deep, either. I don't like the seams on the cab-over bunk (on the outside). I don't like that it doesn't have the Azdel construction. I don't like the TV locations. I don't like that there's no ladder to get on the roof. And I don't like that it isn't at least prepped for solar. And the price...uffda. Overall, there's a lot I like about this unit but the price would send me running for the hills...

There has to be a solid curtain or folding partition between the patio and the cargo/bedroom otherwise you would most likely be raising the patio every night. Too many outside noises, people walking their dogs in the middle of the night kind of stuff. Here in the south you would sweat all night with the patio down. And of course there's the pollen.

NOTE:. Why LED lighting? For outside living it would make more sense to use Amber lighting as it does not attract bugs. Also LED lights are harder on eye health, can damage the retina and disturb sleep rhythm.
One would think an industry that relies on repeat business would be aware.

I agree on the TV placement.
We've had a toy hauler . Sitting sideways to watch TV is a pain.
We spend 4 months in our 5th wheel so we watch a fair amount of TV . A nother thing is the lack of counter space. All of our water hook ups and dump valves are inside . The only thing that's out is out sewer drain. I think less problems.
Other than Thor's poor quality reputation the rest of it looks good. For people that camp where it might freeze, I put water in my tank and unhook my water hose.problem solved with freeze ups. It's also a good idea to use you water pump frequently.
Ive found if I didn't use it for some time it seems to lose it's prime.
I sure would like to drive a class C 7.3 gas motorhome. See how it compares to my old tuned 7.3 diesel pulling a 35' 5th wheel and a 6×10' enclosed trailer.

I agree with Matt; i like the black, white, and red design, and I'm glad they were willing to choose bolder design than the ubiquitous beige. The fake oven drawers were an interesting touch; again, I'm glad they're willing to take design risks. I also was just thinking, until Andrea opened the drawers and we realized there wasn't an oven there, that with a convection microwave and the otherwise scant kitchen storage they should have put drawers down there instead of an oven. And then the actually had. So that was a smart decision. i kinda like the whimsy of it, too.

Pros: 1. I do like the colors and valences, 2. two tvs, 3. party deck, 4. fridge, 5. nice large flat shower. Cons: 1. why not put a hole in floor at kitchen to use one of the tables as prep space? 2. Lower the shower step up. 3. Please either split the garage bed so you can have your stuff on one side and still have an adult bed for one drop down too. Where do you sleep en route if you have your bikes and gear in garage if you cant use a ladder to climb above an atv height?? Basically, two adult length beds are needed where the sofas are, or both come together to make a queen sized bed so you can sleep en route. 4. I agree about one tv as a televator.

I love this RV. I’m new to all of this, but once I came across the toy haulers I figured that’s kind of along what we want. Mainly because that connected outdoor space- aka, the patio, as well as the garage area. The only issue with the toy haulers is obviously the size and the fact that you would need to invest in another vehicle to haul them. This fits the bill perfectly. While we don’t have any toys, my husband and I both work remotely. The garage area will allow us to set up work spaces and as an extra, with access to the outdoors. The only thing missing are the glass doors for the cargo area to make the space 3 seasons. Lastly, I think the RV world needs to really start consider the changes to the workforce into their interior designs. The fact that remote work is more common, it’s allowing for far more flexibility in work locations. Thinking about the fact that we both can spend a couple of months in beautiful locations while still continuing our daily work routines is extremely alluring. This is why I think that RV manufacturers should really start incorporating home office spaces into their interior designs.

The valance patters are strange - but I could live with them (or just exchange them ..)

Please FIND a Thor Outlaw 29S and REVIEW PLEASE! I've been shopping and went from good'ol long-time in the business reputable Winnebago Minnie Winnie 25B in definite mode, then......, and now in 'must have a garage' for fun full-time rv living, no other plain motorhome will do mode. I've scoured up and down California and nationally on reviews and selling price comparison on these motorhome Thor toy haulers and I understand that most all motorhomes these days are not durable enough to withstand fulltime RV living, but since this COVID-19 era altered many things for many people, for which my path ended up here, I find is a disaster but a fine blessing in disguise for more pleasure in life with my grandchildren, I'm ready to supplement this RV Thor Outlaw 29S unit with additional supporting frame, extra insulation, roof durability, power satelite upgrades, and added whatever to ensure LEAK PREVENTION or whatever it takes to make it more durable for longterm "livability" in this unit. One of the main complaints are water LEAKS into the units, BIG QUESTION FOR MANUFACTURERS = What have you done to ensure LEAK prevention and what tests are/have been done that is documented for these common issues that thor motorhome owners have. To have such a high asking price, all motorhomes shoud BE FREE OF ANY NEEDED REPAIRS WITHIN AT LEAST 2-4 YEARS! The damn thing is BRAND-NEW, the cheapest car can last repair free for more than 2YRS!! Yet these owners start voicing the same things within 1YEAR. And YET, due to my situation in life, here I am, willing to do whatever for my future dwelling in these times. Decisions...Decisions...But, it's still a happy and exciting decision, haha:) Thank you Matt and Andrea for all these reviews, they are very helpful and I'm glad you guys have made a breakthrough in changing the rv units in better ways. I wish you could extend your offer location to CALIFORNIA. Thank you!!

I love soooooo much about this RV. I just noticed one thing though: 800 lbs for the bunk….but only 500 for the queen bed. It’s not a problem for us, but I could see how that might be for others. I would love for the bunk to be manual instead of power for two reasons: if it stopped working in the up position, you really have no bed for 2 people….and if it stopped working in the down position while you were at your campsite, you wouldn’t be able to get your full dressed Harley back into the RV…..😱

I liked how when the slide was in it seemed like a RV without slides because there was so much walking space and it looked like the only thing you lost with it in was use of that one TV so thats probably why there are 2 so you still have TV with the slide in but never have 1 in the right position. I agree with Matt on last years color scheme, but I like the side door from last year but love the rear deck now. This really is a great RV.

Office and wet bar in the back? It's a garage. I immediately thought workbench and tool box.
    Likes:
    1) Double sofas. I haven't sat with a group of people and eaten at a table at home since the last time I had a family thanksgiving in 2008. So to me, a dinette is just uncomfortable seating.
    2) Garage. As a solo, I think I would consider this over a typical Class C. I'd sleep in the front bunk, and use the garage for storage of stuff I don't even own yet.
    3) Patio. Something about that is so appealing.
    Dislikes:
    1) The bed size. Sorry, I have to. You have the width of the entire garage space to put a drop down bunk, and once again it's only 74" long? I know it's not on rails, but the front bunk is 96". There is absolutely no reason this couldn't have been 80-84" long. At this point I'm convinced that Thor has a huge stake in the "Odd sized RV mattress" business.
    2) The bed weight capacity. It's the primary bed in the RV (or is at least in that location) and can only hold 500 pounds? Better make sure the kids never jump in bed to wake up mommy and daddy, or a big dog, or be used by two overweight people like me.
    3) Cargo area weight capacity. 1000 pounds doesn't seem like much for something made to hold motorcycles or 4-wheelers or snowmobiles or whatever.

Matt, a couple more negatives... the D rings are not cast iron and I have had them separate as the ends are not welded together. When they broke both my bikes fell causing damage to both bikes and the trailer. They need to be cast iron or there is risk. Also, 1000 lb limit means only one dresser bike or a small 4 wheeler. A quad may exceed the limits. The designers of that garage are not motorcycle riders... sorry for the second post...

Love it! Colors are targeting richer & warmer feel… I think the “whiter” you go (trendy) is asking for things to look dirty and old so for my purpose, this is light but, “user friendly”
    - I do NOT like the RED stitching in the upholstery and doesn’t match at all… would prefer all interior decor to be neutral so you can decorate the way you want
    - do not like the crazy valance material & reminds me of the 80’s
    - would prefer a neutral color scheme option for exterior paint like black, white, tan, browns, gold)
    - would love to have love seat on each side with swivel recliners on each side too… reason being, I hate being on top of people and just want to relax with space & ease of kicking back
    + LOVE THE OUTDOOR DECK
+ LOVE this floor plan but, would have to redecorate… it’s one I would buy with plans to upgrade decor
    - TV’s are too big in bed areas and bad for eyes… would like drop down swivel option
+ SOLID ENGINE AND LOVE IT!
I will be buying something like this to launch my business and use it for traveling to trade shows…I do not want to haul a fifth wheel… just hope the newer versions do not so much much remodel so it doesn’t look like motel upholstery for the 80’s…
    Overall, I love it!

    Likes:
    1. Like the two sofas, but they should both be on slides so that the passenger seat would add to the living room. As it is right now, the swivel passenger seat is waste.
    2. Rear porch
    3. Adjustable shelves in kitchen cabinet.
    Dislikes:
    1. Needs sliding door in the garage. If you are using the AC, then you have to put up the garage door. Makes the bedroom/garage dark.
    2. Color scheme.
    3. High step into shower, I hate that about our current class A.

As the slide went out - Andrea panned the camera and it looked like the camper tilted sideways toward the slide side.
    That was a cool effect.
    I like the overall look.
    It needs a larger engine.
16 in. tires on a toy-hauler is too small. We take these things where car tires cannot go.
The bathroom should be expanded into the garage area a little more to allow for a toilet that not require a ladder.
The price seems right but it will lower as more of this style get into the market.
The tank dump station is a crappy little thing. I don't think those valves will last long.
I would pull one of the sofas and replace it with a nice recliner.
It needs two roof units too.

    2) I love the light finish on the cabinets.
    3) The entire rig is beautiful and spacious.
    Don’t like:
    1) No dinette. A dinette is for more than eating and watching tv; it’s an extension of the food prep space, it’s a place to sew, craft, or work on other projects. It’s an important part of the overall RV experience.
    2) No oven.
    3) The only area in the rig that could have been spaced out a little better is the bathroom. There is inadequate space for knees and elbows.

Matt, there is a reason that this is the only toy hauler class C. The cargo capacity is much too small. If I put a golf cart in back at 1000 pounds, that leaves only 600 pounds for the occupants their equipment, and fresh water. Not enough. This would be better as a super C. Of course it couldn't sell for $100K either. Also Thor does not use Azdel, a severe problem in my book.
