Does this provide any audio improvement to the Bose Premium system? Nvm, I see it does not integrate with the car's Bluetooth services, that's a major fail. Shame, the OEM look is nice.
lol just about to comment that too. I've heard that lady on the radio say there's delays on iron workers way too many times for that not to slip past me
Does the bluetooth audio and phone options from the car still work and you can use the steering wheel buttons for that? Or does something not work as before?
This probably the clearest instruction on the installation I've seen. Wondering if you also did the reverse cam? I have managed to install the HUD but need to figure out how to route the wire for the reverse cam on the Mazda 3 2011. Also I see you could control the volume and radio presets from the steering buttons but on mine only the volume buttons work..the other one doesn't do anything.. is there any specific configuration ?
I didn't install the reverse cam when I did that video, I chickened out thinking about how many panels needed to be removed to route wires. When I upgraded to a later EONON unit I did get motivated and I started pulling panels all the way back to the rear of the car, routing the wire along the top of the driver's side doors where the inside wall meets the headliner. I was able to get all the way to the rear pillar, but couldn't figure out a way to go from there to the rear gate, and then I quickly lost confidence in my eventual success and gave up. :) I'm thinking about upgrading again to the full touchscreen model, if I do that i'll probably take another look.
Thanks for your video. It helped me install my GA5163F into my 2012 Mazda3. I have push start button, so when I turn everything off I can't lock my car because it still thinks that my car keys are inside.
Where can I find the input aux cable? Can you please give me the link? I bought a multimedia unit but they didn’t send me that cable, so I can’t use the aux now.
No, the phone control buttons don't work on the steering wheel, and the only thing displayed on the remote screen is an indication of what mode the radio is in... Radio, Navigation, etc. No trip computer.
Is the aux input in the centre console still usable with this new radio installed? Or do you have to use the included imputes which you had drill a whole in the glove box for? Thanks.
Sorry, I can't say... I never used the aux input in the center console and still don't. I did think about running the aux cords to the center console, but in the end decided the glovebox was more accessible for the wiring (and less visible for making the hole...). I expect if the aux in wire was run into the Mazda harness, that it would still be there for the Eonon to use. I don't know if it does though.
Hi Rob. Loved the video! I am wondering if your phone automatically connects when you start the car, like the factory radio does? On a side note, you may want to make mention to disconnect the negative terminal of the battery before starting the install.
Yes, when the radio turns on the phone connects automatically. Honestly, i've never disconnected a battery terminal while swapping a stereo. Just be careful not to let the live positive line hang free anywhere it could short out (or wrap it in electrical tape while it's disconnected). Connect power to the radio last, and all will be good. I won't be re-editing the video at this point, it was done for Eonon and i'll leave it up to them to make the change if they need/want to.
Hi Gennaro,if you look at the lower right corner of the frontplate, there's a removable cover at the bottom of the column of buttons. Feel around the edge and you'll feel a ridge, hook your thumbnail on that and you should be able to pry it out easily. Under it there is an SD slot. To use the default map set you might not need to set up the path, it's probably already defaulted to the right place. If you want to change to iGO or another map program, you'll need to go to the Settings page on the Eonon and find the GPS or Nav Path Setup page. There you'll find a field where you can enter the path to point to the executable for the mapping program.
Hi... A question; do the controls to answer the phone while driving work? Is the functionality of receiving and making calls the same as the previous radio equipment? I ask, since I observe that you turn the volume up and down and change the radio station, you change the mode, but I would like to know about incoming calls and those that one usually makes with the control on the helm.
@@giovannicuadra4826 No, the phone and voice command controls on the steering wheel do not work after installation, just the volume control on the left side. There are controls on the screen of the radio that can be used instead. When a call comes in a popup window offers you "answer" and "decline" buttons, and while you're in the call the popup allows you to access the numeric keypad if you need to tap numbers in.
when you installed the gps antenna above the radio by the vents, was there any interference with any compass apps or navigation? I've seen some mount the gps in the glove box and wondered which might be better.
There isn't a compass built-in to the unit anywhere, just a GPS. It figures out which direction you're going by reading two successive GPS points and telling you which way you went. If you sit at a light, stopped, your compass heading might jump around a bit as the GPS signal wanders slightly and will occasionally think you're a few feet forward, back, or to the side. This is normal with *all* GPS units. The only way around it is for the software to detect when you've stopped moving and stop updating the heading.
Hi snowflake i bought the gm5163 too and i got it with the map but everytime i try to open the gps folder it says set up the gps path but how?! Where the sd card goes? I don t see anything for that
The 2004-2009 interior is slightly different from the 2010-2013 interior so this particular EONON unit will not fit. EONON does make units that do fit the 2004-2009 body. The steps to hook them up are substantially the same, so if you can identify where all the wires are you'll be able to do it.
I have a mazda3 2010 and the upper screen where it tells you the volume and temp etc isn’t turning on. I even took it into Mazda and they didn’t know what was wrong with it. Do you know how to turn that screen on? Also I’m wondering if I should replace the entertainment system as shown in this video to a modern aftermarket system. I just need help with the upper screen that comes with the car.
Is your upper screen the simple one with just outside temp, clock, and audio mode display? ie. radio station or CD track or whatever? That's what mine is, and it works. If you have the built-in SatNav, with the useless tiny GPS screen, I can't help you there... I expect the brains for that are all in the OEM stereo and removing it will make it go dark. Right now I wouldn't suggest a GM5163, they aren't available anymore... This video is really just for installation help. The USB port in the center console is just a power port, I didn't change that. You could certainly connect it up to the radio if you wanted to, it's not hard to remove the cover over the handbrake and run a full USB cable down there. I elected to run it to the glovebox so it would be more easily accessible to the passenger while driving.

I have the 2013 Mazda Skyactive w/ Bose and have the USB/AUX in the center console. Would there be a usb extension connection I connect to instead of running the ipod/usb connections through a hole in the dash? Excellent video thanks!
J Cuz Unfortunately I don't have the Bose system so I don't know how that's wired... I do have a USB jack in the center armrest and it remains powered after the upgrade, but it's not connected to the radio. I don't recall having an Aux in jack there, but I could be forgetting it... Thanks. I plan on using only bluetooth as well but it's nice to charge my phone from there every now and again. Does this unit come with a camera and mic or is that a separate add on?
All of the necessary wiring came with the stereo. FYI, I just upgraded to the latest model, Android based, capacitive touchscreen, etc. and all I had to do was un-plug the wiring harness on this unit and plug in the wiring harness that comes with the new one. It's very plug-and-play.
Hello. It’s really very interesting video. What the name of the adapter, which l saw on your video on 2.39 minutes. Or maybe you have some special number. I can’t find it.
You can wire it to any convenient jack using the RCA plugs. Your local Radio Shack / Source / Fry's / etc. would probably have a 1/8" stereo plug to RCA jack cable that would connect to it. You can route the cable anywhere you like (I put all the input wires for mine in the glove compartment, you'll see later in the video where I drilled a hole to get them in).
Do you have the Stock Bose system? and the cable that handles the rudder controls for this same radio I bought one on eBay but apparently I did not have it and I need it
I just installed GA6151F and everything went smooth until I turned it on and the volume is insanely loud. At volume 1 its easily 80-85 db. Am I missing a setting for volume?
I did not have this issue and didn't need to make any settings for volume. I suspect you may have a wire placed wrong somewhere. I suggest checking your wiring over once more, and if you don't find any issues contact Eonon support via their website. They are usually quick to respond, but keep in mind they are in Asia so an overnight turnaround on emails is likely if you are in North America.
No problem. I thought I had to connect my own radio harness to the Mazda harness, or maybe i'm thinking of my previous Mazda3. Still, Eonon should be able to help. Even more so if all the connectors and such were pre-done.
I fixed it...had to go into factory settings and enter the password "126". Had a volume section in there and the radio was at 10. Lowered it to 0 and now the problem is fixed...
@buz20 I didn't disconnect it. I was very careful with the wires, though... one of the power lines is live even with the key off. Don't short it to the frame.
Attach? I'm not sure what you mean... If I recall, the WiFi antenna plugs into the back of the radio. I didn't mount the antenna anywhere special, I just put it on the "shelf" behind the ventilation ducts up near the GPS antenna. The ducts are plastic, so I don't think they'll attenuate the WiFi signal much, if at all. You can see the WiFi wire hanging out over the top of the radio at the 6:50 mark in the video. Later at 7:20 you can see me stuffing the antenna and coiled wire for the WiFi into the space to the left of the left ventilation duct. This location has worked well for me for the 4 years (wow, has it been that long?) that i've had the radio.
Thank you ROB, that's what I meant ... Write to me, please, if you know ... red short wire in chinch yellow Video in from rearview camera where should it be connected on the radio? (I have GA9163K but it will be the same) Thank you for your response
@@artur741 Sorry I don't have a backup camera so I don't know where that connects... I recall the manual for the radio was very good at identifying all of the ports however. I suggest starting there. If not, you'll have to email Eonon for help. They were very helpful when I had questions, I usually had a reply within 24 hours and I thought that was reasonable given the time difference.
Pretty much. You need to figure out which wires go to which plugs, but the manual is good enough. No cutting/splicing wires was required. You do end up with a large bundle of extra wire in the space behind the radio, and it's a challenge to organize it all so the radio sits flush. If you do have the cutting/splicing skills, you could shorten a lot of the wires and clean that bundle up considerably. But it's not *necessary* to do that.
@@sekalfwonS-99 omg yes i watched your video and installed and my unit is not 100% flush. i have tried to open again and move thr wires around but still a littleee gap, so im taking it that if i keep noving the wiring around it actually will become flush? ill attempt again soon
@@rubyserrano7764 Yes. Persistence in organizing wiring will get it to sit flush. It goes easier if you route the bundles down towards the footwells, and put some cable ties around them to keep them neat and tidy.
Hi, i'am really interesset to know how did you do to connect your steering remot conrol, i have the same car then you, but my but steering remot control does't work at all. Have a nice day.
+laminelela21 I used the box that came with the radio that interprets the steering wheel controls. Note that radio controls work, but the cell phone controls do not. This is a major failing in my mind but there is no better option that I am aware of. Thee cell phone interface on the 2012 series M3 is largely independent of the stereo. I've heard that some people were able to get the stock bluetooth to work with the EONON installed, but nobody has been able to tell me how. I think you have to get the stock bluetooth wired as an "aux in" to the stereo somehow, but I can't find any documentation on it anywhere.
Yes, it has a port for a backup camera, and can react to the transmission shifting into reverse. I did not connect the camera however so I haven't tested that functionality.
killercake90 I have done this many times. However: the audio from the GPS is next to useless, I haven't been able to balance it with either the radio or the Bluetooth. If the GPS is loud enough to hear, the radio will blast you. The on-screen directions work fine though.
I never bothered. I installed iGo Primo for navigation instead of the stock Nav package which wasn't that great. If i'm not following a route I have a small box in the corner that tells me what the speed limit is, but it's not flashing it at me or anything. I think if I go over the limit it just changes colour. If i'm following a route, that box is replaced with "time to destination" or "eta" or whatever I choose instead.
At 5:09 in the video I explain that the hole is for the USB cables. I don't show running them through the hole, it's pretty obvious how to do that once you've gotten this far.
Mine do. The dimmer circuit is hooked up on mine as well, and that works too. If I dim my dashboard lights, the radio dims with them. Not sure how to diagnose your issue... Do the lights on the radio turn *off* when you turn on the headlights?
Hey I don't know if you ever figured out how to get the lights to stay on cuz I was having the same issue and I figured it out! You have to connect the two wires in the back that say illumi together! And it should work! There's four lose wires two say BRAKE and two say ILLUMI idk if you need to connect the brake ones as well but I did anyways and my lioghts on the system turn on when I turn my lights on as well now!
+kamikaza777 No, removing the stock stereo removes all Mazda functions along with it. I saw a post from someone online who claimed that they were able to keep the stock bluetooth system functional when they installed their aftermarket stereo, complete with phone button controls on the steering wheel. I don't know how that was possible, none of the phone/voice buttons on my steering wheel do anything after the upgrade.
Hi Tarek, the Mode and Up/Down tuning buttons still work, but you lose the cell phone controls. They do nothing after the install. I have seen one report from a Mazda3Forum user that claims that it's possible to keep your stock Bluetooth functionality, but they didn't reply to my requests for info how to make that happen.
RV6Tweety Hey thanks for the info, when i was searching the deck it said by the seller the function can work, so they are pretty much lying to us >:( there is another video on youtube i found by user dannyjack, he is going to give a full review, he mention he will post it today or sometime this week. Hopefully he can answer the full question. But thanks for the info.
Tarek Taher I've had the unit for a year now, so it's possible that in that time they've found a way to interface to the telephone controls. I was under the impression that the telephone controls were a separate system in the car, so they may not be accessible on the CANBUS. I could be wrong, and Eonon may not be outright lying. I do recall that they advertised integration with the steering wheel controls, but when you looked closer it only claimed radio controls, not telephone. Again, that may have changed.
Tarek Taher Mine is the GM5163, which is not the Android unit. I just saw today that they now have a GA5163, which is Android. It would be great to upgrade.
I have a mazda 3 2013... it has no cruise control or any other button on the steering wheel besides the volume and seek button. So im guessing if those work then that's good xD
I brought one on my 2012 got it 2 years sun light make appearing lines on the screen was good sad part of eonon they never make update on the firmware I sold it after I got my 2017 300$ can
I agree... There is no audio other than the music, so you can mute it and get just as much out of it. This was an audio track given to me by Eonon to place in the video, so I did what they wanted.
The clock on my Mazda3 is controlled from buttons betwen the two vents located above the radio. If those don't work after you've installed the radio, maybe you've disconnected the cable somewhere while moving the vent panel around?
Hey, my amp is currently broken and i'm looking to replace head unit, would I need to get a new amp too or will this be able to power the four door speakers? Any help much appreciated. I this does come with wiring kit including correct?
It does come with a wiring harness, that can either be spliced into the car's wiring or you can get an adapter that plugs into the car's wiring and splice into that instead (leaving car's wiring intact). This head unit does have the power to drive speakers directly (that's the default configuration), but you will need to figure out how to bypass your amp for your install. My M3 didn't have a separate amp, so I have no experience with that.

Could you show what it looks like at night?
Hi Rob! Do I have to remove the car battery before installing the unit?
@buz20 I didn't disconnect it. I was very careful with the wires, though... one of the power lines is live even with the key off. Don't short it to the frame.
I disconnected mine while installing the unit, just to be on the safe side. I have it for 8 months now.
Hello Rob... Where did you attach the wi-fi antenna???
(I have GA9163K but it will be the same)
Thank you for your response
@@artur741 Sorry I don't have a backup camera so I don't know where that connects... I recall the manual for the radio was very good at identifying all of the ports however. I suggest starting there. If not, you'll have to email Eonon for help. They were very helpful when I had questions, I usually had a reply within 24 hours and I thought that was reasonable given the time difference.
Thank You ... :-)
So is it really just true plug and play? No professional wiring or capping needed? Just plug in and install it into the dash?
Pretty much. You need to figure out which wires go to which plugs, but the manual is good enough. No cutting/splicing wires was required. You do end up with a large bundle of extra wire in the space behind the radio, and it's a challenge to organize it all so the radio sits flush. If you do have the cutting/splicing skills, you could shorten a lot of the wires and clean that bundle up considerably. But it's not *necessary* to do that.
@@sekalfwonS-99 and I'm guessing when buying the radio it comes with everything included?
@@Countryboyems11 Yes.
It goes easier if you route the bundles down towards the footwells, and put some cable ties around them to keep them neat and tidy.
does this head unit work with iphones because i see it stated that its an android product
it works with iphone and samsung.
Can the rear view camera be connected to that screen?
Yes, it has a port for a backup camera, and can react to the transmission shifting into reverse. I did not connect the camera however so I haven't tested that functionality.
I do not recognize the control of the steering wheel. what should I do?
It will recognize the volume, preset, and mode buttons. It will not recognize the phone-related buttons (pickup/hangup) or the voice button.
does all steering wheel functions work? which ones does not?
Carlos GC none of the Bluetooth/cell buttons work after the install. All of the radio controls work as before.
can you use navigation while listening to bluetooth music?
i just got the same unit for my 2013 mazda 3 but i can't figure it out
killercake90 I have done this many times. However: the audio from the GPS is next to useless, I haven't been able to balance it with either the radio or the Bluetooth. If the GPS is loud enough to hear, the radio will blast you. The on-screen directions work fine though.
got it working, but do you know how to disable the over speed limit,I'm driving and it keeps saying over speed limit
+Rob Prior how do I install that?
Do you loose the top screen info at all by changing the stereo ? (Fuel consumption and all that )
Wait what happened with the whole you drilled?
At 5:09 in the video I explain that the hole is for the USB cables. I don't show running them through the hole, it's pretty obvious how to do that once you've gotten this far.
when you turn your lights on at night do the color lights stay on your unit. For some reason, my won't.
Mine do. The dimmer circuit is hooked up on mine as well, and that works too. If I dim my dashboard lights, the radio dims with them. Not sure how to diagnose your issue... Do the lights on the radio turn *off* when you turn on the headlights?
+Rob Prior no they only come on when I first start the car after that they don't stay on even if I turn the headlights.
That is odd. I would go back and check that you have things wired correctly... If there are no errors, it's possible you have a bad head-unit.
Where can I find this mazda3 touch screen to buy?
You can find the latest model at eonon.com
Nice video, can this fit in my 2010 Mazda 3 2.5 sedan?
If the 2010 has the same "second generation" body style as the 2012, then yes.
Indeed it does look the same, thx
where can I find the wiring diagram for the 2014 Mazda 3
Google.
Do you have to unplug the battery when installing this?
You don't "have" to, but it's a good idea. If you cross a wire while plugging things in, you could fry the head unit or your car's electrical system.
How does one unplug battery?
Just removing red and black connections on top of battery or?
hi!hows the sound quality? same as oem or maybe better ?
As good as the OEM. Honestly, with the stock speakers, I think you'd find that *any* half-decent stereo would give you good sound.
Thanks :)
There’s a Tesla LCD I want to install on my car lol. Guess this help
Is it the same by mazda 6 gh?
No idea. I only have a Mazda3. Certainly the dash dissasembly instructions will be different.
hi can i chenge the glass its broken
ho can change the glass for me
Great video, Rob!
Can you still use the car's voice commands with the Eonon unit installed?
+kamikaza777 No, removing the stock stereo removes all Mazda functions along with it. I saw a post from someone online who claimed that they were able to keep the stock bluetooth system functional when they installed their aftermarket stereo, complete with phone button controls on the steering wheel. I don't know how that was possible, none of the phone/voice buttons on my steering wheel do anything after the upgrade.
Thank you for your answer!
nice
Do you have the stock Bose system?
Does the Bluetooth and other functions on the wheel work and is it android 4.4 version ?
Hi Tarek, the Mode and Up/Down tuning buttons still work, but you lose the cell phone controls. They do nothing after the install. I have seen one report from a Mazda3Forum user that claims that it's possible to keep your stock Bluetooth functionality, but they didn't reply to my requests for info how to make that happen.
RV6Tweety
Hey thanks for the info, when i was searching the deck it said by the seller the function can work, so they are pretty much lying to us >:( there is another video on youtube i found by user dannyjack, he is going to give a full review, he mention he will post it today or sometime this week.
RV6Tweety is yours android version 4.2? And how is the performance of your deck does it lag or slow down?
Tarek Taher Mine is the GM5163, which is not the Android unit. I just saw today that they now have a GA5163, which is Android. It would be great to upgrade.
Que tal es la calidad de sonido
Creo que esta bien.
I have a mazda 3 2013... it has no cruise control or any other button on the steering wheel besides the volume and seek button. So im guessing if those work then that's good xD
Yes, volume and tuning should work after the upgrade. Bluetooth controls *do not* work, however, if you have that.
I brought one on my 2012 got it 2 years sun light make appearing lines on the screen was good sad part of eonon they never make update on the firmware I sold it after I got my 2017 300$ can
Thanks for the share...but that music tho...annoying
I agree... There is no audio other than the music, so you can mute it and get just as much out of it. This was an audio track given to me by Eonon to place in the video, so I did what they wanted.
Hi. Once the EONON is installed how do you adjust the time on the car’s original clock?
The clock on my Mazda3 is controlled from buttons betwen the two vents located above the radio. If those don't work after you've installed the radio, maybe you've disconnected the cable somewhere while moving the vent panel around?
@ ours is the 2011 Mazda 6 and it seems the time is controlled on the OEM radio dials. I wonder if there’s a workaround.
@@user-dz2qv9sq7h Ah, can't help you with that... Not sure what the 6 looks like. Maybe reach out to Eonon directly?
Hi, would this be the same method for a 2012 Mazda 12? Thanks
Not sure what a Mazda 12 is. If you mean a Mazda 2, the dash is probably different, and I don't know what wiring will be in there.
nice
